Liu Anran wanted to keep the remaining two goats, but worried about disturbing the children, so she picked up a sharp knife and killed the remaining two goats. Looking at the four goats on the ground, Liu Anran smiled. She and her four children would never have to worry about not having meat to eat for a year.
After Liu Anran cooked the meal and ate with Yunlong, she changed the triplets' diapers, fed them, and then started boiling water to remove the hair from the goats. After gutting them, she cleaned out their internal organs and finally hung the four goats up, putting their internal organs in a large basin. By the time she finished all this, it was almost dawn.
Looking at the mutton and wild boar meat hanging up, Liu Anran was very glad that the space had a preservation function, so that the food would retain its original flavor no matter how long it was left.
Liu Anran was worried that Yunlong would be hungry when he woke up in the morning, so she quickly washed the rice, lit the fire to cook porridge, picked two ears of corn from the field, removed the kernels from the corn and put them into the pot to cook with the porridge.
When Yunlong woke up, he looked around the space and saw four pieces of goat meat hanging there. He asked in surprise, "Mom, didn't you sleep last night?"
“Yes! I have to kill the four goats so they won’t keep bleating and disturbing you,” Liu Anran said.
After Yunlong finished washing up, Liu Anran had already cooked the porridge. The mother and son ate breakfast. Liu Anran went to the crib and saw that the triplets were still sleeping. She said to Yunlong, "I'm sleepy and want to take a nap. If Chu Chen and the others wake up, you can wake them up."
"Mom, I understand. Go to sleep!" Yunlong said.
When Liu Anran woke up, she saw Yunlong practicing his superpowers. A gratified smile appeared on her face. Her son was so good; she hadn't spoiled him for nothing.
When Yunlong saw that Liu Anran was awake, he ran to the bedside and asked with a smile, "Mom, you're awake."
Liu An yawned, glanced at the alarm clock on the bedside table, and realized it was already past midnight. He exclaimed, "I slept for so long! Why didn't you wake me up?"
Yunlong said, "Mom, I saw you were sleeping so soundly, so I didn't wake you up."
Liu Anran quickly got up to wash up. There was still a lot of porridge left from the morning's cooking. Liu Anran scooped two ladles of water into the pot, grabbed a handful of peeled bamboo shoots and put them into the pot. She started chopping firewood and started a fire. Looking at Yunlong sitting to the side, she said, "Bamboo shoots must be cooked in cold water, otherwise they will be bitter and not tasty."
Liu Anran cut off a small piece of wild boar pork belly and said to Yunlong, "Yunlong, go to the field and pick two scallions and a piece of ginger, as well as a few eggplants, some green beans, a few chili peppers, a few cherry tomatoes, and two small pumpkins."
Upon hearing Liu Anran's words, Yunlong immediately picked up his basket and skipped off to the field to pick vegetables.
Liu Anran used tongs to hold the pork belly, put it into the stove, and singed the pig skin over the fire. The pig skin turned black and emitted a fragrance. All the pig hair on the skin was singed off. The pork belly was put into a basin, water was added to the basin, and the pig skin was scraped clean with a knife. The water was changed twice to wash the pork belly clean, and then it was placed on the cutting board.
After stirring some of the bamboo shoots cooking in the pot, Liu Anran sliced the pork belly into thin slices. After slicing the pork belly, she scooped out the bamboo shoots, poured out the water from the pot, washed the pot, scooped two ladles of water into the pot, and threw two pieces of firewood into the stove.
Liu Anran called out to Yunlong, who was picking vegetables, "Yunlong, are you done picking the vegetables?"
"All picked," Yunlong replied loudly.
Yunlong approached Liu Anran carrying a vegetable basket. Liu Anran took the basket, washed four eggplants, and threw them into the pot.
Long exclaimed, "Mom, why did you throw the whole eggplant into the pot? Why didn't you cut it up?"
Liu Anran didn't answer Yunlong. Instead, she picked up a small pumpkin, washed it, and smashed it on the cutting board. The pumpkin cracked open. Liu Anran broke the cracked pumpkin apart, threw it into the pot, and then washed a piece of ginger and threw it into the pot as well.
Yunlong stared in disbelief. "Is this even possible? Is it edible?"
Liu Anran sat on the stool, looking at Yunlong's shocked expression, and smiled. While removing the strings from the green beans, breaking them, and throwing them into the bowl, she said, "When cooking vegetarian dishes, you have to put the whole eggplant in to cook. It's best not to cut the small pumpkin with a knife. That way, the vegetarian dishes will taste better."
Liu Anran looked at Yunlong as she spoke and continued, "Green beans are crisp and delicious, with a hint of sweetness. They attract a lot of insects, so we have to spray pesticides every few days. I've seen some farmers spray pesticides tonight and then pick green beans to sell at the market the next morning. I used to rarely buy green beans to eat at home. If I really wanted to eat them, I would buy them and soak them in water for half an hour before I dared to eat them."
Yunlong asked in surprise, "Aren't you afraid of eating people who will die?"
“The pesticides nowadays are all low-toxicity and won’t kill you, but if you eat too much, it can be harmful to your health. Radishes, peas, spinach, eggplants, winter melons, garland chrysanthemums, and cabbages are rarely sprayed with pesticides. I usually prefer to buy these vegetables when I go to the market,” Liu Anran said.
"Mom, why are there no bugs in our vegetables?" Yunlong asked curiously.
Liu Anran said confidently, "It's my space, I'm in charge. I can make all the things I don't like disappear from my space. It's the same with your space. You can make all the people and things you don't like get out of your space."
Liu Anran washed the green beans, took them out and put them in a pot to boil. She flattened the cooked bamboo shoots with the back of a knife and cut them into small sections. She washed the ginger, scallions and garlic, chopped them and set them aside. After the vegetables were cooked, she put them in a large soup bowl, washed the pot, heated the pot, put the pork belly in the pot and fried it until fragrant. Then she added the ginger and garlic, sautéed them until fragrant, then added the bamboo shoots and stir-fried them for a while. She added chopped scallions and soy sauce, and then plated them.
Liu Anran washed the tomatoes and peppers, roasted them on the embers in the stove, and then used chopsticks to pick them up, chopped them on a cutting board, put them in a small bowl, added some scallions, soy sauce, and salt, and looked at Yunlong with a smile, saying, "You can eat now."
