Liu Anran smiled and looked at Qin Ruixu, "Qin Ruixu, I feel bad for bothering you with the child, so I made a few dishes to express my gratitude. Please try them and see if you like them."
Qin Ruixu looked slightly surprised as he saw the aroma emanating from the dishes on the table. "I didn't know you could cook."
Liu Anran smiled and said modestly, "These are just everyday dishes, you can just stir-fry them and anyone can do them."
Qin Ruixu picked up his chopsticks, looked at Yunlong and the others, and his expression softened considerably.
"Sometimes I come back very late. If you're hungry, you can eat first and don't have to wait for me to come back."
Yunlong grunted in acknowledgment, indicating that they understood.
Liu Anran served food to the four children, telling them to eat slowly and not to choke.
Qin Ruixu watched the four children eat quietly and said with a smile, "An Ran, you've raised these four children very well."
Looking at Yunlong and the others, Liu Anran said with relief, "The children are so sensible; they don't give me much to worry about."
The child's obedience was also a result of his mother's teaching. Qin Ruixu knew that Liu Anran was being modest. Seeing that the four children were eating with great relish, he also picked up a piece of pine mushroom with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth. His eyes lit up; it tasted better than he had imagined.
Liu Anran was very happy to see that Qin Ruixu enjoyed the dishes she had made.
After finishing her meal, Liu Anran poured two bowls of rice into the dog bowl, then poured all the leftover vegetables into the dog bowl as well. She then said to Yunlong, "Yunlong, take your younger brother and sister to play in the yard to digest their food, and feed Heipi while you're at it."
"Okay, Mom." Yunlong picked up the dog bowl and led Chu Feng and the others out of the restaurant.
Liu Anran was clearing away the dishes and chopsticks, washing them clean, and tidying up the kitchen. Just as she was about to go to the yard to check on the four children, she saw Qin Ruixu sitting on the sofa in the living room, so she walked over and sat down next to him.
"Have you spotted Bai Lu and the zombie horde?" Liu Anran asked.
Qin Ruixu glanced at Liu Anran sitting next to him, a hint of worry flashing in his deep eyes. "Although there are more zombies outside the wall than usual, there hasn't been a large-scale zombie attack, and we haven't seen Bailu either."
"Perhaps Bai Lu plans to wait until night to launch a surprise attack on the base," Liu Anran guessed.
Qin Ruixu said, "That's possible. I've already instructed my men to take extra precautions."
Liu Anran recalled Qin Ruixu's punishment of Bai Lu and those gossipers, and looked at Qin Ruixu with gratitude in her eyes, "Thank you for punishing Bai Lu and those who spread rumors, and for standing up for me."
"It was nothing, you don't need to worry about it," Qin Ruixu said frankly.
Qin Ruixu knew to speak up for her, but Chu Yunxiao turned a blind eye, showing no regard for her and Yunlong's feelings. Liu Anran felt a pang of sadness when she thought of this. She sighed softly and said bitterly, "I once had high hopes for Chu Yunxiao, thinking he would stop those rumors, but he disappointed me and Yunlong."
"Yunxiao has his own unavoidable difficulties," Qin Ruixu said.
Liu Anran leaned back on the sofa, a look of sadness on her face, and said, "I know he has his reasons, so I forgave him and I won't stop him from succeeding. But I didn't know that in his heart I am not a good daughter-in-law or a good wife."
"I believe he likes you; he just wants you by his side," Qin Ruixu said fairly.
Liu Anran gave a bitter smile. "I also want to stay by his side, but I can't trust him, and Yunlong is unwilling to move into the Chu family."
Qin Ruixu asked, "Do you still love Yunxiao?"
"Does it matter?" Liu Anran asked back.
Qin Ruixu turned to look at Liu Anran, "You and Yunxiao have four children, so you're destined to be entangled with him."
“I know, let nature take its course!” Liu Anran said.
All she wants to do now is raise her child; she'll leave everything else to fate.
Qin Ruixu stood up, looked at Liu Anran and said, "I have secretly sent people around the villa to protect your safety. You can stay here with peace of mind and don't need to worry about the child's safety."
"Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness!" Liu Anran said sincerely.
"No need to thank me. I still have to patrol the base later. Let me go upstairs and rest for a bit. Make yourself at home here," Qin Ruixu said, preparing to go upstairs.
"Qin Ruixu, wait a moment." Liu Anran said, taking out a bag of rice and handing it to Qin Ruixu.
Qin Ruixu did not take the rice from Liu Anran's hand, but said, "I can't cook, why are you giving me rice?"
Liu Anran stood up and stuffed Nuomi into Qin Ruixu's arms. "I saw Bailu on the mountain during the day. She was not afraid of the light at all, but she jumped very high. I suspect she is a combination of a zombie and a zombie. Nuomi can cure zombie poison. Also, the vital point of a zombie is its heart."
Qin Ruixu frowned upon hearing Liu An's words. Was Bai Lu a combination of a zombie and a ghoul?
A combination of intelligent beings; it seems dealing with Bailu will be a bit troublesome.
Thinking of this, Qin Ruixu's face turned serious. "An Ran, thank you for coming to inform us, and thank you for telling me all this." As he spoke, Qin Ruixu put the rice into his storage space.
Liu Anran was stunned for a moment. Qin Ruixu also had a space? Was a space as common as cabbage?
Seeing Liu Anran's surprised look, Qin Ruixu smiled and said, "The base has developed a storage space, but it's very small. If you like, I can give you one."
Liu Anran was overjoyed. She held up four fingers and said with a beaming smile, "Four, one for each of my four children. I'll trade you vegetables and grains."
"Okay, I'll bring it to you later," Qin Ruixu said.
Liu Anran's smile deepened. "I'm going to steam some glutinous rice now. You can eat the glutinous rice before you go to work."
Qin Ruixu softly replied "okay" and went upstairs to rest.
Liu Anran went back to the kitchen to steam the glutinous rice, then came to the yard and watched the four children playing happily there.
Qin Ruixu stood by the window, listening to the laughter and chatter in the courtyard, and looking at the mother and her five children. The children were lively and adorable, and the mother was gentle and beautiful, like a beautiful painting. He felt a pang of jealousy towards Chu Yunxiao.
