Chapter 408: Siege, Absolute Advantage

Rockets have their own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that they are light and simple, and their firing speed and density far exceed those of red-haired artillery.

The disadvantage is that it lacks destructive power and is not powerful enough to penetrate the deck and side hulls. At most, it can only fall on the deck and explode or burn.

Moreover, like artillery, rockets suffer from the drawback of low accuracy. However, rockets can still be regarded as a powerful weapon in warfare, at least at the time, and they were quite shocking.

Too many! Each battleship has at least thirty or forty rocket launchers, which adds up to thousands.

The key is that it does not have much recoil. Unlike heavy artillery, even small ships can be loaded and used as a launching platform.

There are so many rockets that they can cover the sky and the sun, and they have a very high launch speed. After a round of launch, they are transported to the launch pad and can be ignited and launched with a little adjustment.

Rockets flew densely towards the red-haired barbarians' warships. Most of them fell into the sea, stirring up small columns of water; some exploded in the air, emitting dazzling flames and black smoke; some burst into flames in the air, scattering pieces of flames.

A few rockets hit their targets, exploding and burning on the decks of enemy ships, causing casualties and chaos.

Boom, boom, boom... Almost at the same time, flames flashed on the warships of both sides, and the artillery roared, pushing the heavy shells into the air and smashing towards each other.

The Dutch reacted quickly, although they were quite shocked to encounter a large fleet of the Ming Dynasty navy here and to be attacked fiercely and seemingly premeditatedly.

The Ming army had perhaps ten times as many ships as theirs, though in size and artillery loadout, no Ming warship seemed to surpass any of theirs.

Even so, the Dutch were unwilling and afraid to fight against such a large number of enemies.

So they fired back while turning the rudder and retreating.

The sails of the two warships were ignited by the fireballs shot out by the explosive rockets, and the fierce incendiary oil attached to them, and the flames rose. This was not like the deck, where fire-fighting measures could be taken.

The Dutch on the warship could only panic and drop the sails, causing them to fall onto the deck before putting out the fire.

Obviously, the two ships had lost their sails and could not escape under the siege of the superior Ming army. Their resistance was just a desperate struggle.

Blue gritted his teeth, but was helpless.

It was impossible to rush forward and engage in a melee with the enemy. Not to mention the number of enemy ships and firepower, the large number of small fireships in the enemy fleet alone were enough to stop them.

"Why would the Ming be like this?" Blue wondered as he gave his orders. "Why would they brazenly become our enemy? The last two times, they used courtesy before force..."

Boom! A rocket hit the deck, and the sharp iron spikes made it stay there, and then it burst into a dazzling flame and a cloud of black smoke.

Amid the shrapnel, the Dutch soldiers fell down screaming, and their bright red blood flowed, making the deck slippery.

"Turn the rudder, turn the sail." Blue shouted loudly, ordering the sailors to operate the sails.

Boom, boom... There was a heavy roar under my feet. The artillery on the lower deck was still firing back. While turning the rudder, I could just unleash the power of the other side's cannon.

In Blue's sight, the enemy ships also opened up their distance and advanced forward in a fan-shaped formation, with a tendency to pursue and besiege.

"Enemy ship, enemy ship." A sailor on the mast shouted in panic, waving a flag in the direction of retreat.

Blue's heart sank and he turned around to look. A black spot appeared on the sea surface, quickly expanding and revealing masts and sails.

He raised the telescope and this time saw more clearly, and his heart sank to the bottom.

A large field of sails appeared in the field of vision, and dozens of large and small ships, flying the flags of the Ming army, formed a formation and rushed towards them.
