Chapter 25 The Farce of the Shen Guoliang Family (Part 1)

Shen Mu Ning has been enjoying a leisurely and enviable time on the train these past few days, while Shen Guo Liang's family is not so lucky.

On the morning of July 6th, the He family, who had originally bought the courtyard house from Shen Mu Ning, arrived at the gate. Having already learned about Shen Mu Ning's family situation, the entire family—those who could take shifts, and those who could take leave—came to collect the keys. Their main reason was to see as soon as possible whether the 1500 yuan courtyard house was worth it, and also to deter the Shen Guo Liang family from denying their rights and refusing to leave; their large group's presence would serve as a deterrent.

He Jie, the patriarch of the He family, and Qian Juhua gestured for their eldest son, He Mu, to knock on the door. They had arrived early; Shen Guoliang and Li Hongmei hadn't gone to work yet. Hearing the knock, Li Hongmei quickly swallowed the food in her mouth and hurriedly opened the door.

"Who is it?" Li Hongmei asked, puzzled. Who would be knocking on her door so early in the morning? Her relatives from both her maternal and in-law families lived in the countryside. Her brother was closer to her family, but they only came to her seeking favors, which she usually gave them depending on her mood. As for her in-laws, the only close relatives of Shen Guoliang were a few cousins from her uncles' families. But they usually didn't arrive from the countryside until noon, so it was really hard to guess who had come to her house so early in the morning.

Before anyone outside could answer, Li Hongmei opened the courtyard gate and immediately saw He Jie and Qian Juhua, who were dressed neatly and looked serious. Behind them stood their three tall and strong sons and a familiar young woman.

"Who are you looking for?" Li Hongmei was confused by the commotion outside. She only recognized the young woman, who she guessed worked at the textile factory, but she didn't recognize anyone else.

"We're here to talk to you, aren't you going to let us in?" Seeing that it was Li Hongmei who opened the door, Qian Juhua readily took on the social responsibility. She didn't want to stand outside any longer; getting them to move out later wouldn't be easy, and they might even have a quarrel. People passing by on their way to work would probably look at them like they were monkeys.

Although Li Hongmei didn't know where the people came from, she couldn't leave them waiting outside. It was obvious they were looking for her family, so she decided to let them in and find out what was going on. So she opened the door and let them into the yard.

The He family members looked around the courtyard before entering. They realized it was a worthwhile purchase. Previously, the three brothers had been somewhat suspicious that their mother had spent 1500 yuan on a courtyard that couldn't be viewed beforehand and that they couldn't take possession until several days later, fearing she had been cheated. However, their mother held considerable authority in the household, and none of them dared to object.

It seems experience truly pays off. Looking at the spacious courtyard, the square house, and the two plots of land planted with seasonal vegetables, even before entering the house, the spaciousness and condition of the courtyard were enough to satisfy them. Moreover, they could easily add more buildings in the future when the family grew, so the courtyard wouldn't feel small.

Shen Guoliang watched as Li Hongmei led the people into the courtyard and then out of the restaurant, looking at the He family with a bewildered expression. Although he knew that He Jie was the group leader of another group in their machinery factory, and that his eldest son, He Mu, also worked at the machinery factory, he was only vaguely familiar with them and had no real interaction with them. Why was this whole family at his house?

He Jie and He Mu had naturally met Shen Guoliang before, so He Jie went straight to the point and explained his purpose to Shen Guoliang: "Hello, Comrade Shen Guoliang, our family is here today to inform you that we have bought this house and we would like to ask you to move out within three days."
