Chapter 10 Black Market Transactions (Part Two)

After selling all fifty jin of cornmeal, Shen Mu Ning earned twenty yuan. Although she had earned more than half a month's salary in such a short time, Shen Mu Ning didn't want to sell like this anymore. She could only carry fifty to one hundred jin at a time to sell, and if she went too often, she would easily attract attention.

Why not take a risk and go directly to the black market owner and supply him with goods? This way, we can quickly exchange grain for money and also get some ration coupons. Ordinary people don't have many coupons, but the black market definitely has plenty. We can also get him to procure some cotton, watches, bicycles, and the like, otherwise it would be too conspicuous to buy them from the supply and marketing cooperative ourselves.

Just as Shen Mu Ning was about to use her mental power to locate the black market boss, a man who had previously bought cornmeal from her walked over, and Shen Mu Ning tensed up instantly.

"Young man, my surname is He, and I'm known as He Lao Er. I'm the second-in-command of this black market. Don't be nervous. I'm just asking if you have any more cornmeal of this quality. If you do, you can supply us directly. I guarantee you won't suffer any losses." The man noticed Shen Mu Ning's nervousness and asked directly.

After thinking for a moment, Shen Mu Ning told him directly that she didn't have much stock.

When He Lao Er heard that there was still stock, he didn't care whether it was a little less or a little less, since it was the same quality as the special supply, so he would take it even if it was a little less.

The two walked together towards the black market's hideout. Shen Mu Ning wasn't worried about any problems; she was prepared to cooperate with the black market anyway, and she was currently in a dominant position. As for any danger, with her current abilities, taking down several people wouldn't be a problem.

The two entered a small courtyard in the black market. Three people were patrolling the courtyard, and a square-faced man with a scar on his face was sitting in the courtyard drinking tea.

Shen Mu Ning could tell at a glance that this person was the owner of the black market. His imposing aura was something that could only be cultivated by someone who had been in a high position for a long time.

Sure enough, as soon as He Lao Er came in, he introduced her: "Young brother, this is our boss, Gu Yong." After speaking, he stood behind Gu Yong.

Gu Yong poured a cup of tea, placed it opposite him, and said, "Young man, please sit down."

Shen Mu Ning sat down opposite him as instructed and took a sip of tea.

Seeing this, Gu Yong asked directly, "May I ask your surname, young brother?"

"No need for formalities, my surname is Chen."

"Brother Shen, how much stock do you still have on hand?"

Seeing that Gu Yong wasn't a procrastinator, Shen Mu Ning also told him the quantity of goods she was going to sell, since she was planning to sell off the bulk of her grain at once.

“I still have a thousand catties of cornmeal, a thousand catties of flour, and three thousand catties of rice on hand, all of good quality. You can take a look at the samples.” After saying that, Shen Mu Ning took out a catty of flour and a catty of rice for Gu Yong to inspect, using the cornmeal bag that was still in the basket as a cover.

After seeing the quality of the flour and rice, Gu Yong was even more eager to complete this order. These were specially supplied quality grains, and although the quantity was small, they could be used as gifts.

"Brother Shen, what price are you looking to sell all this grain for? If the price is right, I'll buy it all."

"Cornmeal costs 40 cents a pound, while rice and flour cost 50 cents a pound."

Upon hearing this, Gu Yong realized the price wasn't too high. Even mediocre rice sold for 40 cents on the black market, so buying it at this price would still yield a profit even if resold. Besides, these kinds of things were rare and hard to come by, so he readily agreed to the deal.

"Brother Chen, when and where would you like to make the transaction? Do you want all the payment in cash?"

The two then agreed on a meeting place, in an abandoned courtyard that Shen Mu Ning had seen on her way from the north of the city, an hour later. Shen Mu Ning wanted money, receipts, a bicycle, a watch, and twenty kilograms of cotton as payment.

After discussing it, Shen Mu Ning left first, taking the opportunity to set up the abandoned courtyard.
