Chapter 119 Palm Garden, Hundred Flowers Garden

After leaving the shade-loving botanical garden, Li Yao went to the palm garden.

Before the apocalypse, Palm Garden was a park with a rich variety of palm species, beautiful scenery, and strong tropical atmosphere.

The garden covers an area of approximately 140 acres and has collected about 400 species of palm trees from all over the world.

It preserves species listed as national protected plants such as the Chinese palm, dwarf Chinese palm, Dong palm, and Long palm, as well as the Chinese palm, which is endemic to my country.

It also collects and preserves palm fruits native to the Malay Peninsula and Java, such as snake fruit and peach palm, one of the four major economic palm plants.

We introduced and cultivated blue-grey vine and slender-branch vine from the Philippines, which have economic development potential.

In addition, a palm vine collection area has been specially set up in the palm garden, covering an area of 30 acres, collecting 35 species of vine palms, belonging to the genera *Gnaphalium*, *Gnaphalium*, and *Gnaphalium*.

High-quality vines introduced and collected include Yunnan vine, multi-spike white vine, small vine, and southern Yunnan vine.

The palm garden has artificially created a wetland environment, forming a stream encircling an island. The islands are situated in the water, and different types of palm trees are planted at varying heights and densities on the islands.

The wetland is surrounded by palm trees, and the planting of wetland plants and wetland palms creates a palm plant growth environment similar to that in nature.

Together with the Pandanus Pavilion, Areca Pavilion, Listening to the Rain Pavilion, and Nanxun Pavilion, the island and pavilions are connected by winding bridges and paths, allowing visitors to stop on the winding bridges or rest in the pavilions to enjoy the scenery from different angles.

In particular, stopping at the Nanxun Pavilion allows visitors to enjoy a panoramic view of the palm garden and appreciate the strong tropical scenery of palm trees and wetlands.

After the pattern was established, the palm trees here mutated, growing thicker and taller.

The former wetland streams are now obscured by various aquatic plants, and the original pavilions and towers of the Palm Garden are covered by vines. The plants in the entire Palm Garden are growing wildly.

In some fruit-growing areas, there are reddish-brown fruits about the size of watermelons with thorny rinds. It took Li Yao a long time to recognize them as snake fruit.

Snake fruit may be common for people in the south, but it is rare in the north.

The flesh of the snake fruit is beneficial to human skin and can be eaten as a beauty fruit.

This fruit is high in potassium and pectin, making it especially suitable for people who use their brains extensively. It is beneficial to the brain and is also known as the "fruit of memory."

Of course, snake fruit is a cooling fruit, so pregnant women should eat less or avoid it altogether. The flesh is also relatively high in calories. Coughs caused by internal heat should be avoided by patients with snake fruit.

The mutated snake fruit was determined by the system to be non-toxic, so Li Yao used [Spatial Control] to pick one.

This fruit originally had scaly patterns on its skin, hence the name "snake fruit." After the mutation, it grew tiny sharp thorns instead.

Li Yao controlled the peel to fall off, and took a bite of the flesh. It was sweet and juicy, with a texture similar to lychee, and tasted quite good. Moreover, this fruit could also replenish her supernatural abilities.

Li Yao stored all the mutated snake fruit in the orchard into her spatial storage, and also transplanted more than a dozen fruit-bearing branches.

She then looked at the palm trees. Palm trees actually have high economic value, but they are not very useful to Li Yao. She still followed her own ideas and cut down the level 4 and level 5 palm trees, harvesting 18 crystal cores.

After leaving the palm grove, the next stop is naturally the flower garden.

The pre-apocalyptic garden covers an area of 353 acres and collects, preserves, and displays 645 species (varieties) of tropical flowers and plants.

The plant landscape of the Hundred Flowers Garden mainly adopts a variety of methods, including solitary planting, large-scale planting of pure forests, centralized collection of multiple varieties of the same type, specialized preservation, and display of climbing and aquatic flowering plants.

It also strives to cleverly integrate with the terrain and waterways to create different viewing spaces and produce landscape effects such as "celestial maidens scattering flowers", "layers of forests dyed in vibrant colors", "colorful scenery" and "flowers blooming and falling".

Leveraging the abundance of flowers and plants within the area, the park explores the connections between flowers and people's daily lives, beliefs, and emotions, as well as the legends, poems, and other literary works created by literati throughout history using flowers and plants. These are displayed in the form of couplets, calligraphy, paintings, and plaques.

It fully showcases the scientific and cultural significance of flowers and plants.

The entire park is embraced by the morning mist of distant mountains, surrounded by the gurgling Luosuo River, and teeming with butterflies and wild birds. Every step reveals a different view, and the flowers bloom without ever fading, allowing visitors to truly experience the magical charm of this "tropical paradise."

The garden after the apocalypse is a riot of color, each more beautiful than the last.

Because different flowers exhibit different mutations and compete for nutrients, and because many flowers are planted together according to their species, this place has become a paradise for flowers.

Some flowers grow larger and begin to expand outwards, crowding out smaller plants around them. Other flowers change their scent, creating a vacuum with a strong fragrance that keeps other plants at bay.
