Since Li Yao went swimming with Tan Xinxin's cousins, they have become much closer. So, during the summer vacation, they made plans to go to Fragrant Hills together. Tan Xinxin said that the Tan family has a courtyard there, and they can go hiking, have a barbecue, and enjoy the scenery together.
Since Li Yao had nothing else to do, she readily agreed to this fun activity. She offered to prepare some snacks and fruit, saying that she had some fruit from the south at home and would bring it over for everyone to try.
Everyone understood Li Yao's personality and didn't stand on ceremony with her. Since they would be staying for a few days, Tan Guangyao reminded everyone to pack a bag with toiletries and a change of clothes.
The next morning, Li Yao put on a short-sleeved, fitted Peter Pan collar t-shirt, loose-fitting thin cargo pants, and sneakers. She also tied her hair in a bun, applied some sunscreen, and started packing her luggage.
She took three styrofoam boxes from home, filled them with ice packs and some lychees, mangoes, rambutans, and durians that she had bought in Lingnan the previous afternoon. She also packed some snacks made by the family chef in a food box. Her cousins and Tan Xinxin all liked these, so Li Yao packed some for each of them.
Then I packed some toiletries, a summer tracksuit, a skirt, a versatile T-shirt, shorts, a swimsuit, a raincoat, slippers, and sandals.
Li Yao packed a small suitcase. She was mainly worried that if she shared a room with Tan Xinxin, Tan Xinxin's presence would be exposed, so she simply brought a suitcase since she had a car.
Li Yao remembered that Tan Xinxin said there would be 12 people in total: Tan Xinxin's three cousins and several friends they brought, all from Beijing, mostly students, so they would keep each other company.
After Li Yao finished breakfast, she heard Tan Guangyao and Tan Xinxin knocking on the door. When they came in, they carried Li Yao's luggage, fruit, and food box into the car.
When Tan Guangyao saw Li Yao standing in the courtyard, her skin glowing white, her slender waist, her perfectly developed figure, her delicate and long neck, and her beautiful collarbone, he felt a sudden pang of heart palpitations.
Li Yao secretly noticed Tan Guangyao's flustered breathing, looked up at him with a smile, and finally Tan Guangyao couldn't resist and urged Li Yao to get in the car quickly with his ears turning red.
Li Yao found it amusing. It's only because men of this era hadn't been poisoned by domineering CEO novels. If this happened after 2020, this type of man would probably grab Li Yao's waist and say, "Woman, you're setting me on fire."
Li Yao couldn't stop laughing at the thought. Tan Guangyao looked at Li Yao, who was laughing uncontrollably in the passenger seat, and felt helpless. He reminded her not to laugh so hard that she would catch her breath and fastened her seatbelt.
Tan Guangyao's car contained Tan Xinxin and Li Yao, so they went straight down the mountain to meet up with the others.
Tan Xinxin's other two cousins are Tan Guangyi, a 21-year-old medical student, and Tan Guangyan, a 19-year-old student at Peking University, along with some of their classmates, most of whom are in their early twenties and the same age as Tan Xinxin. So when they meet, they all call Li Yaoyao "Sister Yaoyao".
The Tan family had deliberately leaked the news beforehand, so the older generation knew that Li Yao was a child of the Cui family, and they had also told the younger generation about it. Thanks to the good relationships of Cui's maternal grandmother and mother, Li Yao had never been mistreated. The children who came today were all polite and well-behaved kids who could play together.
However, Li Yao truly learned a lot; the kind of arrogant and domineering rich kids depicted in novels are very rare in reality.
In families of this social class, it's customary to show courtesy upon meeting someone, and to treat guests with a smile rather than retaliate. Unless there is a deep-seated feud between the two families, they generally won't deliberately make things difficult for each other, nor will they try to curry favor with each other.
If you can have fun together, then spend more time together; if you can't, then just be casual acquaintances. That's the norm.
