Chapter 264 Wedding

Time flies like an arrow. It seems like only yesterday that Li Yao's wedding day arrived.

Ancient weddings still respected the sense of ceremony and ancestral rules, and no part of the ceremony could be omitted.

The ceremony includes setting up the house, offering sacrifices to ancestors, questioning the bride, urging her to get ready, the groom dismounting, blocking the carriage, passing the banquet, sitting on the saddle, entering the tent and scattering the tent, sharing a meal, drinking from the same cup, removing the fan, paying respects to the parents-in-law, and finally kowtowing to express gratitude for the emperor's grace.

Before dawn, Li Yao was woken up by palace maids to wash, bathe, change clothes, have her face sculpted, and do her makeup. Other familiar young ladies or female relatives would also add to her dowry by giving her gifts with auspicious meanings to be included in her dowry.

Then she waited in the palace for her husband to come and fetch her.

Li Yao heard that there would also be tall and imposing women holding specially made wooden staffs in front of the palace gates to "show the prince consort his power."

Li Yao couldn't see any of this. After she finished dressing, she was told to sit still and not to eat or drink, otherwise it would ruin her makeup.

When she said goodbye to the Empress, she was given a small booklet, which the Empress specifically told her was kept in a trunk.

A quick scan with her spiritual power confirmed that, as expected, it was a fire-avoidance diagram.

Li Yao: "..."

After being carried onto the bridal sedan chair by her elder brother, the Crown Prince, the group moved to the Princess's residence. After the wedding ceremony, they expressed their gratitude to the Emperor, and Li Yao was then led to the bridal chamber.

She was led by a nanny the whole way, walking as she was told, and everything went smoothly.

By the afternoon, Li Yao was starving. Hearing only maids and servants guarding outside, she controlled her veil to fly up, took a cup of spiritual spring water from her spatial storage, drank it to replenish her strength, and then took out a mutated banana, fried chicken, and cola.

After finishing eating, I quickly sprayed some air freshener, used mouthwash and chewing gum, and then put the lid back on as it was.

As evening approached, younger relatives came to make a ruckus in the bridal chamber. Then the groom lifted the veil, tied a love knot with his hair, drank nuptial wine, and ate raw dumplings. Finally, the nanny, seeing that it was getting late, led the crowd of onlookers to the banquet in the front yard.

Next comes the phrase "A moment of spring night is worth a thousand pieces of gold," followed by the stirring of red waves.

Li Yao had to admit that she did have some good judgment; this was indeed a very good man.

The next morning, recalling the night before, when his slightly trembling lips gently kissed her, Li Yao still blushed a little.

When Yang Shengrui got up in the morning, he had already gone to the martial arts training ground to practice. The emperor had given him a three-day leave.

Li Yao drank a cup of spiritual spring water, estimated the time when Yang Shengrui would return, and then went to her own space to practice her supernatural abilities and exercise her body.

Fortunately, both of them were martial arts practitioners, so they were able to get up normally the next day. If either of them were an ordinary person, they would have had to lie in bed for three days.

Thinking about last night's battle, Li Yao felt a little excited. Sure enough, the happiness of adults is the most comfortable happiness. No wonder men can't live without women once they have money and power. Tsk tsk.

After breakfast, Yang Shengrui accepted tea from Li Yao's five male favorites. Li Yao's attitude was very proper, and these men listened to Yang Shengrui in all matters.

She also thought that in the future, she would only let them perform their talents to relieve boredom, and she would never touch them, otherwise she would feel a little guilty about her 1v1 heart.

And so, Li Yao began her married life. Except for her three days off, she didn't go to sleep until dawn every night, and could only catch up on sleep during the day.

At other times, Yang Shengrui would go to the palace to work or to the camp in the suburbs of Beijing during the day, while Li Yao would practice the zither, draw some ancient-style comics, or learn medical skills from the old imperial physician in the mansion. When Yang Shengrui finished his shift, he would come to accompany her for meals and walks, and occasionally they could go shopping during their rest.

When Li Yao goes shopping alone, she will choose some things she likes and buy more to stock up.
