Chapter 77 Being Hung Up By the Redwood

After collecting the crystal cores and watching the zombie boar turn into a pile of black ash, Li Yao removed the firebreak, sprinkled some water on the surrounding soil, and then planned to return to the invisible house.

Today's forest exploration went quite well, and I learned a bit. As it got hotter and hotter around noon, Li Yao decided to stop suffering and go back to enjoy the air conditioning and watermelon.

She and the group of robots turned around and walked back. As they walked, Li Yao used her mental power to scan her surroundings and discovered that the tree from which she had given the crystal core was still sneaking behind them.

Li Yao hadn't paid any attention at first, but they were almost at the edge of the forest, and the tree was using its roots as legs to walk steadily like a machine. What was going on?

After Li Yao signaled the group to stop, she walked up to the redwood tree and said, "I'm going home. Why are you following me?"

The redwood tree pretended to be dead and didn't move. Li Yao glanced at it twice and continued walking back, but the tree still followed. She got angry and said, "Everyone, speed up!" She herself teleported back every two steps, determined not to believe that the tree could keep up.

When Li Yao returned to the invisible house, she glanced back and, seeing no trees, thought smugly, "Little brat, can you keep up with me? Humph!"

System: [...I can't bear to look, the host is so childish]

Once inside, the air conditioning was on, making the whole room very cool. Li Yao changed out of her protective suit, went back to the [Spirit Spring Space] to wash up, and then returned to the Invisible Room wearing a vest and shorts. It was a bit hot today, with the temperature around 42°-48°.

She flipped through the menu for a while and decided to have liangpi (cold skin noodles) today. Liangpi in the Northwest is different from that in the South. It is thicker and softer. With sesame sauce, garlic juice, white vinegar, chili oil, Sichuan peppercorn water, a little cucumber shreds, and a little fried peanuts, it smells delicious. This kind of cold dish is perfect for hot summer days.

Li Yao used her ice-type superpower to freeze the bowl until it was icy cold, making it even more refreshing to eat. She then had some sugar-coated tomatoes and cucumber salad, a plate of cold pig ears dipped in garlic and vinegar sauce, and two large bowls of liangpi (cold skin noodles). After finishing them, Li Yao felt completely satisfied. She took a moment to cool down and then had a slightly icy cola. Burp, perfect.

Li Yao was about to take a nap when Da Zhuang suddenly approached her. Li Yao asked what was wrong.

Dazhuang stretched out his arm and pulled hard through the gap, pulling out a section of tree root, followed by a small twig about the length of a palm, with a green tip.

Just as she was about to say something, she noticed the branch was moving.

Li Yao examined it carefully and discovered that it was a miniature redwood tree, and a living one at that.

It's kind of cute.

Dazhuang noticed Li Yao's question and said, "Master, after I came back, I found it hidden behind Special 90. This is the redwood tree that followed us."

Li Yao poked the mini redwood with her finger. It was so cute. She wondered if it was because of the crystal core that it was trying to stick to her.

I wonder if raising such a thing is expensive in terms of food.

After thinking for a moment, Li Yao asked Little Redwood, "Are you sure you want to come with me?"

The redwood tree nodded.

Very good, Li Yao realized that it could probably understand human speech.

"Then you have to follow the rules. You can't hurt the robot or me. If I find out you're up to no good, I'll chop you up and burn you for firewood," Li Yao said solemnly to Little Red Fir.

The redwood nodded, hugging its young self tightly, unsure if it was wrong to want to cling to a powerful figure.

After searching for a while, Li Yao found a cute little flowerpot, the kind used for growing succulents. She put some soil in it and poured some spiritual spring water into it. Then she saw the little redwood eagerly jump into the flowerpot and bury its roots firmly inside.

Li Yao sprayed some spiritual spring water on its leaves, then said goodbye to Little Redwood and Dazhuang to take a nap.

Lying in bed, Li Yao asked the system, "[6834, why has this redwood tree become so small?]"

System: [Host, this redwood tree has mutated. It possesses a level 2+ wood-type ability and is a mutation-type ability. It can change its size, becoming either large or small.]

Li Yao thought that was a good idea. "Keep an eye on 6834. If there's any unusual activity, use spatial absorption."

The system replied: "Okay, host."

Li Yao woke up from her afternoon nap around 2 or 3 pm. She didn't feel like moving around today, perhaps because the temperature was higher than the previous few days.

So in the afternoon, Li Yao didn't go out. She stayed home wearing a tank top and shorts, lying on the sofa, enjoying the air conditioning and eating watermelon.

She chilled the watermelon with her ice-type superpower, and specially chose a thin-skinned, seedless watermelon. While eating the watermelon, she watched a palace drama on the large TV that came with the house.

One of her favorite concubines couldn't compete with the other concubines. Li Yao felt sorry for her misfortune and angry at her lack of ambition. Then she ate a few more bites of watermelon. This drama made her want to smash the TV. Oh well, she picked a foreign variety show to watch for a while instead.

After eating a bellyful of icy watermelon, Li Yao returned to the [Spiritual Spring Space] and played with Li Da and Li Er for a while.

These dogs have grown a lot and are very lively, running around in the space all day. When they see Li Yao, they rush up and lick her face. Li Yao dodges while petting the dogs, plays frisbee with them for a while, and gives each dog a hot spring bath. The afternoon passes by just like that.
