Li Yao first made a plan: if the air conditioner and other appliances were working properly, the room would be heated by the air conditioner, a small heater, and an electric blanket.
If the air conditioner is frozen and the appliances can't be used, then you have to use a big iron stove, the kind that many people saw when they were kids, with a chimney that goes outside the house. You can boil water and cook food on the stove inside, and burn honeycomb briquettes or firewood underneath.
Li Yao had bought several of these large stoves when she was preparing supplies, so she could use them at any time. As for the chimney, Li Yao looked around the room and found that the mountain hotel had a fireplace. She slapped her forehead and realized that a fireplace would work too. How could she have forgotten about that?
A fireplace means there's already a stove and chimney.
After these two things were prepared, the next step was the glass doors to the observation deck. There were four doors and four glass walls. Li Yao thought of the thick curtains that were common in the north.
She searched her online space and found it: the mall's back office, which had 32 of them. The size was also suitable; it seemed to have been used by the mall to block the wind.
With the glass door in place, everything else becomes much more convenient. If the air conditioner breaks down, you can simply cover the air vents with this thick curtain.
But it's alright, if the electric motor breaks down, there are still gasoline and diesel engines. These are backup plans.
With the indoor temperature comfortable, Li Yao decided to clear out the zombie animals and strange beasts outside.
When it gets cold, herbivores have no food, and carnivores will hunt frantically. Once the herbivores are all gone, the carnivores will definitely set their sights on Li Yao.
So let's clean up a bit first, then we can go up the mountain every day to get some exercise, otherwise she'll suffocate inside.
Let's get right to it.
Li Yao first had Da Zhuang clean the chimney and fireplace. She then took out some flammable charcoal and chopped firewood (which she had bought pre-chopped when she bought it). After lighting it, she tested the fireplace and found that it worked normally and the temperature was good. The chimney was not blocked. Li Yao also had plenty of firewood in her space, so she went to install the door curtain.
These thickened door curtains are usually made of thick canvas with cotton or felt. There are two transparent square frames sealed with thick plastic at the top, which are used as peepholes to see people outside. The curtains have strong magnetic strips on three sides, which can be attached together to prevent wind. There are buttonholes at the top for hanging.
Li Yao found a few iron hooks and had Da Zhuang weld them onto the upper door frame with a hand welding gun. The glass wall had alloy door and window frames, and naturally, a row of hooks was welded onto the upper part of the window frame to match the buttonholes of the curtain.
After everything was done, Li Yao had Da Zhuang hang up the curtains and try them out. They fit perfectly, so she left them behind and didn't put them away.
Li Yao wasn't sure when the temperature would drop, but with it dropping so quickly, she wasn't sure if it would be below zero by tomorrow morning, so she decided to leave it for now, since it wouldn't cause any problems.
After installing the curtains, Li Yao took out several large pots, the kind of hot water buckets usually used in canteens, and also brought out 10 water jugs. She asked Da Zhuang and the 10 special-grade robots to boil the water. After the water boiled, she poured it into the water jugs, covered them, and then put them into her spatial storage. This way, she wouldn't have to go through the trouble of boiling water later.
After completing these preparations, Li Yao took another look at the generator and the miniature controlled nuclear fusion reactor. Li Yao also specially arranged for a special-grade robot to be there so that if the generator was damaged by freezing, the miniature controlled nuclear fusion reactor could be rescued first.
After setting the air conditioner to 30 degrees Celsius, Li Yao sat in the living room waiting for the robot to boil water. Once all ten buckets of water were filled, Li Yao put on her quick-drying clothes, then put on a constant-temperature, cold-proof, and stab-proof suit, and went out with her helmet and infrared imager. She was going hunting today.
