Chapter 49: Gathering and Separation

Chapter 49: Gathering and Separation

Song Yuqing's first reaction was to chase after her and look for Sister Qin.

She hadn't forgotten that in this parallel world, there was another self, and naturally, another Sister Qin. However, something was unusual: the clothes Sister Qin wore in this world were the same ones she had worn when they first met.

If the person Song Yuqing saw was Sister Qin from this world, then based on the aesthetic standards of this world, that piece of clothing would definitely not appear.

Although she and Sister Qin had only dealt with each other once and didn't have a strong relationship, Song Yuqing admired her from the bottom of her heart. She didn't want to believe that Sister Qin was simply swallowed up by Lin Han and disappeared. For Sister Qin, that ending was too hasty, like a child's play.

Song Yuqing searched hard among the crowd, but he didn't see Sister Qin whom he hadn't seen for a long time.

Just when Song Yuqing was about to give up, a group of seven or eight-year-old children, surrounded by Sister Qin, came out from the alley across the street.

"Sister Qin, Sister Qin, let's go shopping and go back later!"

"That's right! I finally got to come out!"

The children were chattering, but Sister Qin remained calm.

"No, we made an agreement before we came out. We have to go back at the appointed time."

The children complained a lot, but no one really disobeyed Sister Qin. They all followed Sister Qin obediently into a shabby van.

Song Yuqing didn't care about the traffic and ran forward. The moment Sister Qin closed the car door, he grabbed the car window.

The moment her eyes met Sister Qin's, Song Yuqing regretted her impulsiveness. What if the Sister Qin in front of her was not the Sister Qin she knew? Would she get into big trouble again?

However, Song Yuqing saw shock, excitement, and restraint in Sister Qin's eyes. Sister Qin did not look at her like a stranger.

Sister Qin, I know her.

"Who are you? What's the matter?" Sister Qin frowned.

"I, I want a ride."

Sister Qin looked at the children behind her, then at the obviously nervous Song Yuqing, and slowly said, "Come up."

Song Yuqing shamelessly squeezed onto the bus, wedged between the children. Her eyes unconsciously looked at Sister Qin, but she was afraid that she would notice, so she looked out the window guiltily. Song Yuqing wanted to get straight to the point and confirm Sister Qin's identity, but she was worried about breaking some unspoken rule from Master Fu, so she decided to test the waters first.

"Where are you going?" Sister Qin observed Song Yuqing in the rearview mirror.

"Well, where are you going?"

"Outdoors, in an orphanage."

"Wow, what a coincidence, I'm going there too." Song Yuqing gripped the ground with her toes, she could even feel the deliberateness of her words.

Song Yuqing added: "Really."

"Auntie, why are you going there?" The child sitting next to Song Yuqing scratched his head and looked at her in confusion. The suburbs were different from the world in the city. One was in the sky, the other was underground. Why would anyone want to go to the suburbs?

"Call me sister." Song Yuqing blurted out.

"Auntie." The child did not change his words.

"What are you doing there? You look like you're not a local, are you?" Sister Qin narrowed her eyes warily.

"I'm from somewhere else. I want to look for my friend, Qin. She disappeared last month..."

Sister Qin slammed on the brakes and everyone in the car fell forward.

"Sister Qin! Drive carefully!" a little girl in the car exclaimed.

"I'm sorry." Sister Qin didn't say much, but just continued driving.

Song Yuqing was almost certain that the Sister Qin before her was the Sister Qin from her own world. Song Yuqing was filled with doubts and grew increasingly restless. Seeing Song Yuqing's shuffling, the children nearby, thinking he was being squeezed, considerately moved aside.

The suburbs are not far from the city, but the road becomes more bumpy the further you go to the suburbs. Sitting in the car, it is bumpy and swaying like a sedan.

"There is actually such a place here?" Song Yuqing looked at the dilapidated buildings outside the car window and felt desolate.

"Yeah." Sister Qin stared at the road ahead, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "This car has a history, so it's not very bumpy. Just bear with it."

Song Yuqing had thought this parallel world was perfect, but it turned out she simply hadn't seen the Land of Shadows. That's right, perfection doesn't exist.

The van drove along a muddy road. The road was very narrow and the branches on both sides of the road were scraping against the body of the car.

The car stopped in front of a two-story house. Song Yuqing got out of the car and noticed that there was a stone tablet next to the house with the words "Shelter for People with No Special Abilities" written on it.

"Is this, an orphanage?"

"Let's talk later." Sister Qin took the children into the building, and Song Yuqing followed.

There are classrooms, practice rooms, kitchens and dormitories in the building. Although it is simple, it has everything you need.

Sister Qin asked the older children to practice kung fu with the younger children, then she took Song Yuqing to an office and locked the door.

"Song Yuqing, why are you here?!" Sister Qin turned to face Song Yuqing, her body trembling slightly, and her eyes red.

Yes, that’s right, the Sister Qin in front of me is the Sister Qin who added the metal frame to God’s Supermarket.

The two women looked at each other and smiled. Song Yuqing's smile was full of joy, while Sister Qin's smile was bitter.

"Sister Qin! I heard that you were swallowed by Lin Han into the black hole. I thought you had already..."

"Lin Han...ha...it's a long story." Sister Qin pulled Song Yuqing to sit on the chair, calmed herself down, and then began to tell her story.

That day, Sister Qin was out with the zombie hunter team hunting zombies. Other psychics ostracized her, and she disdained to join them, so she went out on her own. Unexpectedly, she ran into Lin Han on the way. She didn't know Lin Han, nor did she know his identity. She was just passing by when she saw him stop his car and scold someone nearby. Sister Qin wanted to walk away quietly, but when she heard Lin Han mention Song Yuqing, his words filled with disdain, Sister Qin wanted to confront him, and so they started arguing, verbally and physically.

Lin Han and the people around him were no match for Sister Qin. Just as they were about to be defeated by Sister Qin, Lin Han suddenly created a black hole and swallowed Sister Qin.

"I thought I was dead, but when I opened my eyes I found myself here." Sister Qin smiled bitterly. "I don't know how to go back, so I have no choice but to survive here."

"I'll take you back!" Song Yuqing had momentarily forgotten that her own space was inaccessible to living people, except for zombies and animals. After she finished speaking, she realized this and could only click her tongue.

"Can you go back?" Sister Qin thought she had traveled through time and space here.

"Yes, I came here through space to buy supplies."

Sister Qin was silent, her eyes flickering.

"I won't go back."

Song Yuqing heard the laughter of children coming from next door.

"Is it because of those children? But Liu Xiaona is still..."

"Liu Xiaona is an adult and can take care of herself, but they are minors." No matter in which world, Sister Qin always cares about her like an old mother.

Song Yuqing felt something was wrong. Sister Qin was actually willing to give up returning to her own world and abandon her old friend just for a child she had known for less than a month.

"Are there no other adults here?"

"No, it's just me, raising them."

A hundred years after the apocalypse, ordinary people without special powers are considered inferior, and children without special powers will be abandoned as soon as they are born.

"Are you sure?" If Sister Qin was determined to stay, Song Yuqing would never try to persuade her again. Everyone has their own choices. Besides, no matter how bad the shelter in this world was, it was still much better than the world they were in. At least there were no zombies and no abnormal weather.

"If you really want to stay, I respect your choice. However, you should be careful about running into yourself in this world."

"Yeah." Sister Qin avoided my gaze, which was very abnormal.

"Have you encountered this before?"
