Ji Yuzhi was really busy; he was so busy that he didn't even return to H City to enjoy his winter break, instead staying in S City. Just as Feng Li had said before, setting up a studio wasn't as easy as he had imagined.
But it wasn't as difficult as I had imagined.
Taking advantage of the holiday, he had time to look for a location for his studio and apply for various permits.
This busy schedule lasted until the Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival at Zhen Tian's family is always lively, after all, there are many family members, and they all get along very harmoniously. The older generation is still alive, so every year on New Year's Eve, the Zhen family will hold a gala party, and everyone has to perform a talent show. Even a successful and aloof man like Lu Kai has to perform on stage. In the end, everyone votes, and the person with the most votes gets a big red envelope for the New Year.
Since the Ji family moved across the street from the Zhen family, they have also joined the Zhen family's New Year's Eve celebrations. Many years have passed in the blink of an eye.
As expected, Zhen Tian won the Best Performance award of the night and also received the New Year's lucky red envelope, a prize pooled together by everyone. Every year, this red envelope ends up in Zhen Tian's hands; after all, she's the only well-behaved little girl in the family. How could they not spoil her?
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Ji Yuzhi and his parents returned to the Ji family home to visit the elders and relatives.
Compared to the Zhen family, the relationships within the Ji family appeared much colder. While cold, this didn't mean they were emotionally distant; their mutual concern was masked by calm facades.
After years in business, almost all the descendants of the Ji family have been like this. Only Ji Quanzhou is different, because he took a different path.
"It would be great if you were willing to take over the family business," said Ji Si, Ji Yuzhi's cousin.
The two stood side by side on the balcony of the old house, gazing into the distance.
"Didn't you do a good job?"
Ji Yuzhi leaned lazily against the wall, his expression unlike his usual energetic self. He had stayed up too late at the Zhen family's house last night; the whole family had stayed up until midnight, then played cards and mahjong, making a ruckus until the wee hours before finally getting some rest. When he arrived at the Ji residence this morning, not a single member of the Zhen family was awake.
"I'm tired." Ji Si followed his example and climbed onto the wall opposite Ji Yuzhi. "Business is tough these days. E-commerce platforms have a huge impact on those of us who do manufacturing. Businesses like ours that do foreign trade are a little better off. But we've had far fewer orders in the last few years."
Ji Yuzhi shrugged, not wanting to talk much about areas he wasn't familiar with: "Perhaps you could share your thoughts with your great-uncle."
"Sigh, forget it." Ji Si waved his hand: "It's good that you don't get involved in this troublesome matter. The Mi family is a disorganized mess now. There are rumors that they are planning to leave H City. I didn't expect that the trouble would even involve our family. Now, no matter how bad things are for us, the Mi family has no right to interfere."
"Hmm," Ji Yuzhi responded coldly.
"Tsk, this is the first time you've ever asked your older brother for a favor." Ji Si grinned mischievously and leaned closer. "I didn't expect our talented son to be involved in some kind of nurturing game. When are you going to bring him back for us to see?"
"after."
"Okay. How's your studio coming along? Do you need any help?"
Ji Yuzhi and his cousin had a good relationship, so Ji Si was aware of Ji Yuzhi's thoughts.
“Not for now.” Ji Yuzhi turned to look behind him. “Let’s go, Grandpa’s calling.”
Grandpa Ji Yuzhi was a very serious old man. After all, he had built the family business from scratch, and the air of authority of a superior always surrounded him. Everyone was discussing how the Ji family could have such a dissolute and unruly descendant as Ji Quanzhou, wondering who he took after. Fortunately, Ji Quanzhou was an upright and devoted man at heart, which is why he wasn't beaten to death by Grandpa Ji.
Every time they returned here, all the descendants of the Ji family, young and old, would come to the old man for instruction. Fortunately, the Ji family was not large.
Chatter and fuss, a busy and chaotic day has passed.
During the remaining few days of the holiday, Zhen Tian stayed by Ji Yuzhi's side at all times. Once she went back to school, Ji Yuzhi would have to leave again.
The seven-day holiday passed in a flash, and the festive atmosphere faded. When I went back to school on the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, there was no festive feeling at all; it was just like going to school on any other day.
"The Spring Split is about to begin again this year."
"Yes, you know what? MG team's God used to be a student at our school."
"Really?"
"Really, you don't know this since you transferred schools. If the god were still in school, he would be in his senior year of high school."
"Holy crap, I'm a fan of his! He's the hottest solo queue player this year, and now he's the MG mid laner daddy."
"If I had known our school had such a genius, I would have gone and asked for ten or eight autographs long ago..."
Zhen Tian and her classmates were bored during PE class and wandered around the playground. Along the way, they heard many boys discussing this year's Spring Tournament, and Lu Lin was the player they mentioned the most.
"Looks like Brother Lu has really become popular." Yang Feiguang clicked his tongue: "We witnessed his popularity when we went to participate in the regular season last time, but we didn't expect it to spread like this throughout our school so quickly."
"Isn't that normal?" Ye Qingyan said, linking her left arm with Zhen Tian and her right arm with Yuan Yuan. "Just think about Lu Ge's looks and his skills. He's only been in the team for less than a year, and he's already won the regular season championship. He's a hot favorite."
Yuan Yuan nodded.
“Yeah, that’s true.” Yang Feiguang scratched his head: “If Brother Lu wins the LPL championship in the future, our school will probably explode.”
"Are you happy?" Shao Junli noticed that Zhen Tian was smiling.
"I'm so happy." Zhen Tian held the popcorn bucket and smiled a little sheepishly. "My family didn't approve of my brother playing games at first, but now that he's achieved such results, his aunt and uncle must be very happy."
"Don't worry, Brother Lu is obviously no ordinary person. He'll definitely win one championship after another in the future."
Ye Qingyan put her arm around Zhen Tian's shoulder.
The whistle blew.
Several people turned around at the same time and looked at the physical education teacher.
"We've assembled."
"Your homeroom teacher said that you can go home right after class today." The PE teacher clapped his hands to signal everyone to pay attention to him: "If you need to go back to get something, go back to get it; if you don't need it, you can go home right now. Remember to lock the classroom door."
"I need to go back and get my backpack," Zhen Tian said, blinking.
“I’m going too.” Ye Qingyan raised her hand: “I didn’t bring my phone or anything.”
"I want to go back too."
In the end, the only one who didn't need to retrieve anything was Yuanyuan.
"Then I won't wait for you, I'll go home first." Anyway, we're not going the same way, waiting for us would be a waste of time.
"Okay, take care of yourself. See you tomorrow."
Yuan Yuan nodded, picked up her backpack from the flower bed, and walked out of the school.
She didn't quite understand some of what was said in class today, and she was still pondering it as she walked out of the school.
As soon as she stepped out of the school gate, she was grabbed by two men. She wanted to scream, but the man with the devilish voice covered her mouth.
