Chapter 124 Never Encountering a Murderous Psychopath

After rushing out of McDonald's, Zhen Tian stood at the door, somewhat bewildered. For a moment, she had forgotten why she had rushed out in the first place.

I rummaged through my backpack for my phone, but found a small red booklet in a compartment inside the bag.

After a while, she waved and hailed a taxi.

"Driver, to the airport."

I used this bag when I went on a trip with my parents in my first year of high school. It was quite big, so I could carry all the things we bought. I hadn't used it since, but I put it back in use this time to carry my exam papers.

I arrived at the airport just after lunch break, bought my ticket to S City, and the plane was scheduled to land around 5 p.m.

Zhen Tian considered the time in her mind and decided to wait until she arrived in S City before telling her parents that she was going to find Zhizhi.

She sat quietly in a corner of the airport waiting room, waiting.

City S.

Ji Yuzhi was receiving the head of an international conference. His office door was tightly closed.

Zhao Anran, carrying a coffee tray with four cups of coffee on it, knocked on Ji Yuzhi's office door.

"Sorry to bother you." She put the coffee down and left the office, thoughtfully closing the door behind her.

"How's it going? Are you still negotiating?" Feng Li asked.

"Hmm. It doesn't seem to be going very smoothly." Zhao Anran pursed her lips and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Everyone, don't cause trouble for Yuzhi. Just focus on your own things."

Her tone was gentle and soft, reminiscent of the Wu dialect, because she came from the water towns of Jiangnan. However, due to her years of education and natural talent for languages, she didn't have the typical Jiangnan accent or intonation, making her very pleasant to listen to.

"Alright, alright, we definitely won't cause any trouble for our leader." Zheng An smiled and said, "Senior, you don't need to bother with anything else."

"Okay." Zhao Anran's lips curled into a perfect smile.

Wen Jiujiu sat at her workstation in the technical operations department, curling her lip in utter disdain: "You guys shouldn't make things worse."

She mimicked Zhao Anran in a sarcastic tone, then chuckled twice: "Men are really blind."

Zhao Anran is a third-year student at the Capital University of Foreign Studies. She was recruited because of her excellent skills, especially her talent in simultaneous interpretation, which she learned quickly. Wen Jiujiu, on the other hand, is a computer science student from the university across the street. She was recruited specifically for website operation and daily technical maintenance.

They were both girls, so they should have gotten along well. But Wen Jiujiu was the kind of straightforward girl who didn't have any guile. The first time she saw Zhao Anran, she was given goosebumps by Zhao Anran's tone of voice. But she thought she couldn't dislike someone just because of a bad first impression.

So she met Zhao Anran a few times, but in the end she just couldn't stand her double-dealing attitude.

She unilaterally ignored Zhao Anran, even showing disgust towards her. But which of the single young men in the room could tolerate a girl like Zhao Anran, who all acted like lapdogs? It made everyone feel like they were bullying Zhao Anran, which made her want to vomit.

He typed away on the keyboard with the smell of warm wine wafting through the air.

"You're the only one who doesn't cause trouble, the ultimate green tea b*tch in the universe!" She vented her anger by writing code.

"I wonder how things are going on the boss's side? I hope the phone vibrating won't interfere with their conversation." Zheng An regretted putting his boss on a dating website.

"Now you know fear." Zhao Zeyuan glanced at him, as if he had avenged Zheng An's previous scheme against them.

"Don't worry, the boss is smart. He's definitely on silent." Feng Liren was very gentle. Although she was angry that Zheng An had dragged her into this before, she was no longer angry after so long.

But if that were the case, Zheng An might not have been scolded by Ji Yu.

But what happened next almost made Ji Yuzhi skin him alive.

"What, are we leaving get off work today?" Everyone looked at each other. It was already six o'clock in the evening, and Ji Yuzhi still hadn't come out of the office. Although they didn't have a set time for leaving and getting off work, everyone had a strange obsession with leaving on time, as if it were some kind of ritual.

"Let's wait a bit longer. If their representative comes out and sees that no one is in our studio, they might not have a good impression of us," Feng Li said.

“Yes, yes, you’ve thought of everything.” Zheng An agreed.

Zhao Anran sat at her workstation, her gaze constantly sweeping towards the office door.

Wen Jiujiu got up and got a glass of water, and snorted loudly as she passed Zheng Anran.

Pretentious women are really annoying.

Zheng Anran smiled at Wen Jiujiu as if she were a child.

"Jiu Jiu, did you bully An Ran again?" No one wanted to tease her.

"Get lost! Which eye of yours saw me bullying her?" Wen Jiujiu was about to explode again.

...

After Zhen Tian got off the plane, although it wasn't her first time in S City, she hadn't been there many times.

She was still a little dizzy when she came out of the airport.

It was quite a struggle to find a taxi stand.

"Where are you going, little girl?" People from the capital speak the most standard Mandarin, but it still has a unique accent.

Zhen Tian wasn't in the mood to analyze the difference, and said dejectedly, "Go to the Capital University of Foreign Languages."

"Okay."

The driver stepped on the gas and drove off.

As Zhen Tian sat in the back seat, watching the unfamiliar scenery rush past, a sense of fear slowly rose in her heart.

She took out her phone and dialed Ji Yuzhi's number.

The driver glanced at her in the rearview mirror: "Young lady, are you contacting your family? It's alright, this is the capital, don't worry, all the taxi drivers here are safe. You won't run into that pervert who'll kill you to silence you."

"Huh?" Zhen Tian was even more frightened by what he said.

"Didn't you call your family and send me your license plate number or something?"

"No..."

"Hey, do you think I'm just talking nonsense? Don't worry, I'll definitely get you safely to the Capital Foreign Ministry."

Zhen Tian became even more worried after hearing what he said.

The phone rang repeatedly, but Ji Yuzhi never answered.

As darkness fell, Zhen Tian's fingers trembled slightly as she gripped her phone. The fear in her heart grew infinitely with the darkness of night.

Fortunately, the car stopped quickly.

"We've arrived, young lady." The driver stopped the car. After frightening the little girl earlier, he didn't dare to speak much, afraid of scaring her again.

"Thanks."

After Zhen Tian scanned the QR code to pay, she got off the bus.

The first place is the university park, with four universities in this area alone. So even when it gets dark, there are still many people coming and going around here.

She stood outside the gate of the university, watching the diverse crowds coming and going, clutching her phone, looking petite and pitiful all alone.

She had been standing at the door for almost an hour. It was getting dark, and the surrounding lights were coming on one after another. She dared not continue making calls; in her haste to leave, her phone battery was down to only 10% after a whole day.
