“I didn’t want it to be this fast.” Ji Yuzhi spoke slowly, his deep and clear voice, like a cello being played, echoing in the room: “But I’m worried about you entering university soon. There are many temptations in university, and many boys who are good at talking and charming. So I can only feel at ease if I settle things with you in advance.”
Ji Yuzhi opened the box in his hand, and what came into view was not a diamond ring, but a ring he had specially commissioned, made of 52 tiny pearls forming a band, with a smooth pink pearl arching at the center. It wasn't as grand as a diamond ring, but it still held special meaning.
“Sweetie, I’ve planned everything for you.” He pulled a piece of paper from his inner pocket and unfolded it in front of Zhen Tian: “This is a property I bought near the studio, and it’s in your name. You can live in the dormitory or here. Wherever you are, I want to prepare a home for you.”
Zhen Tian covered her mouth, staring at everything in disbelief, her teary eyes unable to see anything clearly.
Ji Yuzhi continued, "Sweetie, will you marry me and become my fiancée? We'll get married as soon as you graduate."
"Are you willing?"
Zhen Tian covered her mouth with both hands, tears streaming down her face, but she nodded repeatedly without hesitation.
"Ohoho..."
"Wow..." The three of them pulled out a cannon from somewhere and exploded next to the two.
"Heh..." Zhen Tian was both amused and exasperated, wiping away tears while unable to suppress her laughter.
Ji Yuzhi took her hand and put the ring on the middle finger of her left hand.
The size was just right, and the ring shone much brighter than when it was in the box.
Zhen Tian stared at him for a while before bursting into laughter and looking up at Ji Yuzhi: "You're so annoying, when did you prepare this?"
“It was probably a very, very long time ago,” Zheng An interjected.
Zhen Tian looked at Ji Yuzhi, and her surprise at his nod lingered for a long time.
“Yu Zhi thinks he’s kept it from us very well,” Feng Li said with a smile. “But we already knew.”
"No wonder." Ji Yuzhi covered his forehead and chuckled. "No wonder you wouldn't leave no matter how much I chased you away this morning. I was so angry that I was already considering firing you."
"We just wanted to give you a little push," Zheng An said, still acting unseriously. "Such a big event as a proposal would be so lonely with just the two of you."
"I'll let you off this time." Ji Yuzhi shoved the men in the chest.
Zhen Tian was still immersed in joy, her fingers unable to stop touching the ring. She sniffed and said, "Thank you everyone."
"Don't mention it, it's nothing." Feng Li smiled.
“Yes, that’s right,” Zhao Zeyuan echoed.
Zheng An suddenly chimed in, "It's your sister-in-law's birthday and the day she accepted the proposal, shouldn't we go out and celebrate with her?"
"How should we celebrate?"
"Of course, it's a one-stop shop for eating, drinking, and having fun!"
Zheng An grinned mischievously.
When the party ended, Zhen Tian got quite drunk under Ji Yuzhi's indulgence.
She didn't even have time to reply to the birthday wishes messages and phone calls she received on her phone.
...
After his birthday, Ji Yuzhi took Zhen Tian to play in City B for a few days.
So much so that when Wen Jiujiu learned about Ji Yuzhi's marriage proposal from Zheng An and the others, she was still filled with regret for not being there. But that's a story for another time.
I don't know who said that prolonged indulgence is just endless busyness.
Ji Yuzhi is just like that.
Zhen Tian was so busy with him that she didn't even realize her vacation had slipped away.
September 1st, Art University.
Zhen Tian returned to H City at the end of August.
She rested at home for two days before starting to busy herself with preparations for the start of school.
After shopping until she was exhausted, Zhen Tian realized for the first time how hard her mother worked and how much she needed in life.
Lu Kai recently returned to China and, upon learning that Zhen Tian was about to start school, stayed at Zhen's house for a few days.
Seeing his sister and niece busy at work, he glanced up between typing on his computer and said casually, "Preparing so much to send over is less efficient than buying it when it arrives."
"I know, but I'm still worried." Lu Ti sat down next to Lu Kai, rubbing her temples wearily.
“What’s there to worry about? Ji Yuzhi is still here.” Lu Kai closed his laptop and tapped his fingers twice. “I’ll drive Tian Tian there. We can buy whatever we need in S City.”
“I think it’s a good idea. My roommate might need to buy something too, so we can go together.” Zhen Tian slumped on the carpet, fiddling with the remote control in the room.
She also experienced what it felt like when Ye Qingyan and the others went shopping with her.
I'm so, so, so tired.
"So it's settled then?" Lu Ti asked hesitantly, but she had already made up her mind.
I'm too old to keep up with all that. Sigh.
"It's settled then."
Zhen Tian rushed back to her bedroom, and only when she lay down on the bed did she feel as if her soul had possessed her.
She picked up her ringing phone, which displayed a message: "[Ye Qingyan invites you to a video call.]"
“Hello…” She pressed the answer button directly.
"Sweetie, what are you doing? Want to go shopping?" Ye Qingyan glanced at the scene around her, which looked exactly like a shopping mall.
"No, no, no, I'd rather not." Zhen Tian's entire face screamed refusal.
"What's wrong with you, little brother? You don't even want to go shopping anymore?" Ye Qingyan zoomed in on the camera, revealing her exquisitely made-up face.
With a look of utter despair, Zhen Tian turned the camera around, revealing a bedroom floor piled high with brand-name bags of all sizes.
"What the heck? Did you rob a shopping mall?" Ye Qingyan exclaimed in astonishment.
"No, my mom and I have been shopping every day these past few days to buy these for school." Zhen Tian sighed helplessly.
"Why don't we buy it at school?" Ye Qingyan shook the card in her hand: "I'll just bring one card with me."
"We just decided to buy it when we arrive; it's too difficult to carry all this stuff."
"Oh dear..." Ye Qingyan was walking backwards to show Zhen Tian the view when she accidentally bumped into the person behind her.
The man reacted extremely quickly, catching Ye Qingyan. Then he released her just as fast, still holding his phone and talking on the phone, without even glancing at Ye Qingyan once.
"Okay, I won't go back yet. I'm going to S City; I have some work there..."
The man's words faded into the distance, and Ye Qingyan stomped her foot in frustration: "He didn't even apologize to me."
"Didn't you bump into them? They even helped you up," Zhen Tian said truthfully.
"Hmph, it's his honor if such a beautiful and generous fairy like me bumps into him." Ye Qingyan tossed her hair: "Alright, I'll go take a look around by myself. I'll hang up now."
