Zhen Tian followed the instructions step by step, taking the menu from her uncle and handing it to Yang Tao next to her: "Order whatever you like to eat."
Yang Tao looked at the menu handed to her and, unable to refuse, opened it.
"Hiss." She took a deep breath.
Although the menu didn't feature dishes with exorbitant prices of four figures, the fact that almost all the dishes were in the three-figure range made it difficult for her to decide what to order.
One of the fish dishes was priced in the three-digit range (starting with a 3), and it looked both appealing and inexpensive. Yang Tao made the choice without hesitation.
"I want this one."
The waiter glanced down and smiled, "This Golden Sauce Fish is 399 per tael. How much would you like?"
Yang Tao was shocked. She looked down repeatedly. How the hell did she know that there was such a thing as weighing by weight?
Lu Kai glanced at the number of people and said, "Let's start with two jin."
"OK."
Yang Tao was stunned and quickly tossed the menu to Jin Yaya; she dared not order anything. People would think she was overcharging, and how could she make such a blunder so early in the semester?
"It's okay." Zhen Tian noticed her annoyance, secretly squeezed her palm, and winked at her: "My uncle is still very good at making money."
"I'm sorry," Yang Tao said dejectedly.
"No, we asked you to order. It doesn't matter what you order." Zhen Tian shook her hand: "Aren't you supposed to be a woman who sleeps with men for four years straight?"
She returned the favor with the words of Yang Tao.
Yang Tao felt a warm feeling in her heart.
Seeing that Yang Tao was being so impolite, Jin Yaya didn't want to order. But Jiang Wei took the menu and casually ordered a few dishes.
Jin Yaya suddenly remembered that before Zhen Tian arrived, Jiang Wei's clothes and belongings weren't cheap either. They had been remarking on this before Zhen Tian's arrival, thinking that only she and Yang Tao were poor.
She didn't feel confident enough to order such expensive food, so she just picked one randomly.
Lu Kai didn't even glance at the price; he simply nodded to the waiter.
Zheng An was the first to break the silence: "I thought I'd be set for life following the boss, but it seems I'll have to cling to my sister-in-law's coattails from now on."
The group exchanged a few casual jokes.
The dishes were served one after another, but no one touched their chopsticks. Zhen Tian picked up a piece of pumpkin pastry, stuffed it in her mouth, and glanced at everyone, saying, "Hey...you guys eat."
It was Lu Kai, who seemed to have the most authority, who spoke up: "Let's all start eating, and wait while we eat."
Only then did the group begin to eat.
At noon on the plane, Zhen Tian didn't like the airplane food and didn't touch it at all.
So now she's the hungriest, and she keeps stuffing things into her mouth.
"Slow down." Jin Ze handed over a glass of orange juice: "Chew slowly, or your stomach will hurt."
"Okay, okay." Zhen Tian used orange juice to suppress the food in her mouth before looking at her roommates: "You guys eat more. This is my first time eating at this hotel, and it tastes great."
"I've never taken you there?" Lu Kai asked in surprise.
No.
Lu Kai chuckled lightly: "Uncle will be more careful in the future. How could I forget to bring Tian Tian?"
"You not only forgot your niece, but you also forgot your nephew." Lu Lin swirled his wine glass, managing to make the drink taste like red wine.
“No, you should say when your uncle took us under his wing.” Lu Yiran was not about to humiliate himself.
"Look at this familiar double standard." Lu Lin downed his drink in one gulp: "I should eat my third uncle out of house and home today."
"Then you can give it a try." Lu Kai chuckled again, but this time it wasn't gentle towards Zhen Tian; it was provocative.
"It's my fault, it's my fault, I had a bad mouth." Lu Lin shut up.
"Little sister-in-law, the boss is on the phone." Zheng An, who had been eating in silence, handed over his phone.
"Hmm?" Zhen Tian asked in confusion, then answered the phone with a "hello".
Ji Yuzhi stood on the outdoor balcony, leaning against the railing, as the sea breeze brought wave after wave of cool air.
Why aren't you answering the phone?
"Did you call me?" Zhen Tian rummaged through her small bag. "Zhizhi, my phone seems to be dead."
She pouted and said in a naturally coquettish tone, "I was so bored on the plane that I watched some variety shows and then my phone died. My phone is so useless."
Ji Yuzhi chuckled: "Yes, it's all the phone's fault. I'll get you a new one when we get back."
"No need to get a new one, this one was only bought recently," Zhen Tian chuckled.
Ji Yuzhi knew perfectly well that this was a sign of her guilt, but he didn't expose her: "What are you doing?"
"I'm having dinner with my brothers and new roommates." Zhen Tian looked around; her roommates were all staring at her with curious eyes. She was a little embarrassed: "Have you had dinner yet?"
"not yet."
Zhen Tian took her phone away from her ear and glanced at the time: "It's almost six o'clock, why aren't you eating?"
"I'll eat right away, work is just finished."
"Then go and eat quickly, I'll wait for you to come back."
"Okay. Call me if you can't sleep tonight."
"Okay."
"Let's go back and take you home."
No one knew what Ji Yuzhi said, but they did see Zhen Tian's cheeks suddenly turn bright red.
Lu Kai and Jin Ze were both displeased, and their combined aura was enough to make those around them feel the temperature in the room drop.
"Sweetie, let's hang up and eat." Lu Kai said casually, but who knows how much anger was burning inside.
Adults have very powerful imaginations.
"Okay. I'm hanging up now. Eat properly, and don't skimp on your food."
"Okay, whatever you say."
After hanging up the phone, the only sound in the room was the clinking of bowls and chopsticks.
Seeing that everyone had almost finished eating, Lu Kai picked up his drink and said to everyone, "Tian Tian has been spoiled by our whole family at home and has developed a bit of a temper. I hope you will all be more tolerant if she does anything wrong in the future."
Lu Yiran also raised his glass: "Please take good care of Tian Tian from now on."
"Of course, of course," Yang Tao responded first.
Everyone raised their glasses and took a sip. Seeing this, a sudden emotion flashed through Zhen Tian's mind.
It seems that from this moment on, she will step into adult social interactions, and will she no longer be able to be as willful as she is now?
But then she thought of Zhizhi's words and put those feelings behind her. It was Zhizhi who told her that things could stay like this forever.
It was just past seven o'clock, and for the capital city, the nightlife was just beginning; the shopping malls here don't close until 11 o'clock.
Lu Kai checked the time again: "Let's go, let's take your roommate home first, then we'll take you to buy daily necessities and those little things you like, like perfumes."
"No need, I can buy it myself tomorrow." Zhen Tian waved her hand: "You guys should go back now. Uncle still has work, and so does Brother Ze."
"It won't make a difference to take a little more time."
Anyone could say that, but not Lu Kai. Of all the people in his family, only his every moment is valuable.
"I can do it myself, but everyone else probably has things they're lacking too."
"Yes, yes, we can go with Tian Tian."
