Chapter 209 Grown Up

Zheng An, with a crab leg in his mouth, stood there dumbfounded when he heard Feng Li's nonsensical remark.

He understood in a moment.

"No need for thanks between brothers." Zheng An slapped Feng Li hard on the back: "I'm still waiting for you to stay with me and change my bed sheets!"

Feng Li slapped him away in disgust: "It's been three years, and you still don't know how to put on a duvet cover!"

"Isn't it because you guys are helping me?" Zheng An used his oily hands to pull Feng Li towards the center of the food.

Ji Yuzhi breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the two playfully bickering.

Zhen Tian stepped out of the crowd, walked up to Ji Yuzhi, and grabbed his hand: "What's wrong?"

"It's okay." He patted her head. "Shall we go home?"

"OK."

Zhen Tian took off her disposable gloves and picked up the backpack that was placed in the corner.

"Eat more, order more if you're still hungry. After you eat, go relax a bit." Ji Yuzhi, holding Zhen Tian's hand, said to everyone, "We'll reimburse you when we get back."

"Thanks, boss!"

"Wow, thank you, boss!"

The two left amidst cheers.

On the way to the parking lot, Zhen Tian stole many glances at Ji Yuzhi, until just before getting into the car, Zhen Tian grabbed Ji Yuzhi's hand as he was about to open the car door.

She leaned against the car door, wrapped Ji Yuzhi's hands around her waist, and put her arms around his neck: "You're not happy."

Zhen Tian's tone was very certain.

He remained silent for a while: "It's nothing, just a feeling of helplessness and disappointment."

If he were even more capable, could he have bypassed the selection process and taken everyone away?

Ji Yuzhi told Zhen Tian about Zheng An's concession during the assessment.

She listened and nodded, and when he finished speaking, she asked him, "And then?"

"That's all." He explained his feelings.

Zhen Tian looked at his head up and down, seemingly puzzled. This amused Ji Yuzhi.

"What's wrong?"

"Oh? It's nothing." Zhen Tian smiled and squeezed his handsome face. "I just feel like my Zhizhi is different."

"What's different?" he chuckled.

"It's like there's a human touch now..." Zhen Tian chuckled, "You didn't care so much before, but now you care too much."

She released her mischievous hands, leaving two red marks on Ji Yuzhi's face, which looked particularly comical on both sides of his cheeks.

Zhen Tian chuckled: "Whether it's the selection process or the internship, these are all extra benefits that everyone gets from you. If you hadn't performed well enough, the person in charge wouldn't have given you three spots. So everyone has been taking advantage of you all along. How can someone who's already taken advantage of you expect to get even more?"

Ji Yuzhi scrutinized his little girl for a while before smiling and saying, "You've grown up."

"Tch." Sweetie pursed her lips and smiled again.

"Going home?" She tilted her head coquettishly.

"Return."

Ji Yuzhi opened the car door for her, fastened her seatbelt, and then walked around to the driver's seat. The car slowly started moving and drove away from the parking lot.

...

The date for my trip to the United Nations has been set; it's in a week.

But life is full of unpredictable events, and no one could have foreseen that Zhao Zeyuan would run into trouble during the school selection process, missing out on a spot at the United Nations.

Everyone in the studio looked astonished when they heard the news.

"What? Zhao Zeyuan didn't pass?" Wen Jiujiu was stunned for a moment, then looked at Zhao Zeyuan with shock in her eyes.

The man remained expressionless, showing no emotion. But Wen Jiujiu didn't know why, but she sensed Zhao Zeyuan's sadness.

Ji Yuzhi sighed softly: "Zeyuan had a minor accident."

During the on-site translation, his contact lens suddenly slipped out, and due to his severe myopia, he couldn't see the text clearly, causing him to pause. This resulted in significant point deductions and contributed to the failure.

Feng Li and Zheng An, as roommates, were speechless at this moment. Apart from Ji Yuzhi, Zhao Zeyuan was the only person they had never worried about in the dormitory.

"Um...that..." Zhen Tian wanted to break the silence, but didn't know what to say. She was never good at comforting people.

"fine."

Instead, Zhao Zeyuan spoke, his cold and clear voice clearly echoing throughout every corner of the room.

"You guys go ahead, I can stay and manage the studio. Just come back and talk to me."

“Zeyuan…” Zheng An felt a tightness in his chest.

He assumed that all four of them in his dorm would definitely go together.

"I'm sorry." Feng Li patted Zhao Zeyuan on the shoulder, as if he felt apologetic for going to the United Nations despite not being qualified.

"Alright. Stop looking so sad. There will be other opportunities in the future." Wen Jiujiu waved her hand casually.

"Yes, everyone's busy. Those who are going abroad should take care of their things, and the others should continue with their work."

"Yes, boss."

"Okay, boss."

Zhen Tian wanted to say something more, but after opening her mouth, she couldn't say anything.

Ji Yuzhi pulled her away, and Zhen Tian looked back at Zhao Zeyuan with concern.

The office door closed, and Ji Yuzhi sat back down at his desk, glanced at her, and asked somewhat irritably, "Haven't you seen enough yet?"

"Huh?" Zhen Tian looked at him, then suddenly seemed to realize something and ran behind him, turning his head around: "Zhizhi, are you jealous?"

"What do you think?" He glanced at her sideways.

"Hehehe, isn't that your brother? I feel like he's a little sad." Zhen Tian pried his arm off the table and snuggled into Ji Yuzhi's arms, sitting on his lap.

Ji Yuzhi tightened his left arm, lifting her up slightly until she sat deep on his lap: "That's none of your business."

"Tch, stingy." Zhen Tian snorted twice.

"Say it again?"

"You stingy little thing," Zhen Tian said, looking at him defiantly.

A moment later, her lips were captured.

...

Outside Ji Yuzhi's office, everyone in the office area was busy with their own things.

Zhao Zeyuan held the translation materials in his hand, but didn't turn the page for a long time.

"Hey." Wen Jiujiu, carrying a bag of things, tiptoed to Zhao Zeyuan's side. To avoid being discovered, she crouched down and nudged Zhao Zeyuan's calf.

Zhao Zeyuan didn't speak, but looked down and raised one eyebrow in confusion.

"Here, take this." Wen Jiujiu held up the small paper bag in her hand and slowly lifted it onto his workbench. "Eat this and feel better. Don't be sad."

Zhao Zeyuan remained silent, simply looking at her.

Wen Jiujiu gave him a hard punch: "Silent gourd."

“Me?” Zhao Zeyuan pointed to himself.

"Otherwise, it would be me." Wen Jiujiu pouted. "Although this opportunity is a bit of a pity, we can take it slow. There should be better opportunities in the future if we follow the boss."

Zhao Zeyuan finally managed to utter a complete sentence: "You really trust the boss?"

"Of course, don't you believe me?" Wen Jiujiu said matter-of-factly.

He curled the corners of his lips into a smile: "I believe it too."

"That settles it then." Wen Jiujiu punched him again: "Let's go, my legs are numb."

Zhao Zeyuan looked at the bag and moved his fingers.
