The afternoon sunlight shifted its angle at will, creating a cinematic interplay of light and shadow in the café.
Ye Qingyan looked dejected: "I'm only 20. My dad wants to arrange a family marriage for me. What the hell?"
"A marriage alliance?" Zhen Tian was taken aback.
"Yeah, doesn't it sound melodramatic? Like a domineering CEO novel?" Ye Qingyan scoffed.
Zhen Tian didn't think that much about it. But when she heard about the arranged marriage, she remembered that the main character in the comic book who stole Ye Qingyan's family fortune was the person she was to be married into.
"So you just hung up on your fiancé?" Yang Tao was incredibly surprised. She was just an ordinary person and had never heard of such a scene before.
"No, it's my dad." Ye Qingyan rolled her eyes. "He keeps saying I don't like this one and wants to find another one. The problem is, do I dislike that person? I dislike the whole idea of an arranged marriage."
"yes."
Zhen Tian's sudden voice startled Ye Qingyan: "What is it?"
"It's because you don't like him." Zhen Tian said innocently, "If it were a guy who met all your requirements in terms of looks and physique, you would definitely agree, and you wouldn't care about any marriage alliance."
"How is that possible?"
"Why not?" That's exactly what the book says.
Looks matter!
Ye Qingyan felt a little guilty after Zhen Tian's words, but she still tried her best to make one last attempt: "That's right, I haven't been interested in men lately."
“That’s even more terrifying,” Yang Tao said meaningfully.
"Do you want to see what a red exclamation mark looks like?" Ye Qingyan asked with a stern face.
"Okay, okay, I won't say anything." Yang Tao wisely shut up.
"Anyway, I've made up my mind. I'm going to move out of my family home." Ye Qingyan drew circles on the table with her sunglasses. "I don't believe he can make arrangements for me if I don't go back for the holidays."
"So where are you planning to rent a place?"
"Why rent a house? Buy one!"
"Buy?" Yang Tao choked on her saliva.
Ye Qingyan replied frankly, "That's right, otherwise why would I stay in a house that someone else has lived in? I would find it disgusting."
"Wow! Awesome." Yang Tao was completely impressed.
"So you guys come with me to look at apartments these next few days, I've already picked out the locations." She opened the real estate agency app on her phone: "These few all look pretty good. And they're all already renovated, so I don't have to worry about anything."
Yang Tao leaned closer and exclaimed, "Holy crap, this is all a villa area!"
"Yeah, what else?"
"..."
...
As Lu Lin predicted, they suffered a defeat in the Summer Split, but it was even worse than he had anticipated. They failed to reach the semifinals.
The atmosphere in the team these past few days has been touching.
A gloomy mood lingered at the team's base.
Lu Lin, on the other hand, acted as if nothing was wrong, continuing his training and eating as usual. This caused everyone's emotions to worsen, eventually leading to an outburst.
"Lu Lin, do you have no heart?" The team's most hot-tempered support slammed his keyboard down and glared at Lu Lin.
He played the game nonchalantly: "I think I should have it."
"What's the point of fighting? What's the use of fighting anymore?" The assistant unplugged his mouse and keyboard. In the struggle, the mouse cable also broke.
People nearby quickly stepped in to stop them: "What are you doing! Why are you getting angry with the gods?"
That's enough for you.
Lu Lin looked at his empty hands and took a deep breath.
"Does the team have any spare mice and keyboards?" he asked the team manager.
"have."
"Give me a set, this is my promotion match."
"Oh, okay." The manager was taken aback by his calm demeanor.
The support player wanted to come up and grab him to say something, but Lu Lin stopped him with a look.
Lu Lin said expressionlessly, "Know when to stop."
He tugged at the chair, turned around, and even though he was in a lower position and being looked down upon, his imposing manner was not suppressed in the slightest.
"Was it my fault for making mistakes in the Spring Split? Was it my problem for not listening to instructions? Or was it my impulsiveness that led me astray?"
"I've raised the team's problems more than once, but who among you has listened to me?"
"Defeat is inevitable, so what's there to be angry about? If everyone continues like this, forget about the World Championship, it's not impossible for us to be relegated to the relegation zone."
"God, that's a bit much." The others hadn't had it easy either; they were also angry at Lu Lin's nonchalant attitude. But they were more composed than he was.
"That's not an exaggeration at all. If the team doesn't make changes, they should prepare for relegation in the next competition."
Lu Lin stood up and walked towards the bedroom on the third floor.
"God, aren't you going to play in the promotion match?" The manager ran back panting and saw Lu Lin's back.
"I'm not playing anymore."
The manager glanced at the screen; it was a King of Glory promotion match. Could he just cancel it like that?
He glanced at the few people who were still angry.
He sighed, "You all only see the anger in front of you. But who among you has seriously looked at what Lu Lin did after his defeat?"
He said all he had to say, shook his head, put down the keyboard and mouse, and left.
Lu Lin returned to his dorm and made a phone call to Li Chengqian. They discussed something, but both were satisfied.
A week has passed.
Ji Yuzhi led a few members of his team to Haishi.
On that day, Zhen Tian saw him off at the airport.
"You have to come back soon." Zhen Tian tugged at his clothes and rubbed them reluctantly.
"I'll be back in a few days." Ji Yuzhi patted her head. "Feng Li and Zheng An aren't going with me this time. You're familiar with them, so contact them directly if you need anything. Oh, and Wen Jiujiu too. You can go to her studio to find her if you're bored."
"I know."
"Okay, alright. It's not the first time we've been apart." Ji Yuzhi chuckled at her expression and pinched her cheek. "I'll be back soon, and then I'll take you on a trip?"
"Okay. Let's go to the ancient town."
I promise you.
"It's almost time to board," Zhao Zeyuan reminded Ji Yuzhi.
"Then go ahead."
Zhen Tian pouted, reluctantly saying goodbye to Ji Yuzhi.
"Wait, you guys, wait a minute." Wen Jiujiu suddenly appeared from somewhere: "Why didn't you tell me you were coming to see me off when you left?"
"Why should I tell you?" Zheng An was among those seeing people off at the airport, and he retorted directly.
"None of your business." Wen Ji took a moment to catch his breath and handed the bag of candy he was carrying to Zhao Zeyuan: "Here, have some if you get airsick."
Zhao Zeyuan took it, a slight smile in his eyes.
"No, wait a minute." Zheng An turned his head and reached out to stop him.
"What's going on with you guys? Why aren't you giving the boss candy? And where are the others?" Zheng An shouted, making Wen Jiujiu blush.
Zheng An was chased and beaten by her.
Zhao Zeyuan, however, said decisively, "We're together."
"ah?"
"What?"
"When?"
"Really?"
Everyone, including Zhen Tian and Ji Yuzhi, looked completely bewildered.
