After seeing Zhen Tian off, Yang Tao asked Ye Qingyan, "Tian Tian still doesn't seem to have figured it out. What should we do?"
Zhen Tian left, but the two of them stayed.
"What should we do?" Ye Qingyan took out her phone without worry: "Do you know what the best thing to do is when we have no other options?"
"What?"
"Looking for Brother Ji!"
Yang Tao looked at Ye Qingyan with a look of sudden realization as she dialed Ji Yuzhi's number.
...
As darkness fell, Ji Yuzhi turned on the light in the study.
He held the book with both hands, quickly skimming each page. The anticipation of the pictures on the next page subtly accelerated his reading speed, though it somewhat affected the overall effect.
He sat there motionless for the entire afternoon. His smile, like his body, remained perpetually on his lips.
The cell phone suddenly rang loudly in the quiet room.
Ji Yuzhi looked away from the book, and Ye Qingyan's name suddenly appeared on the screen.
He pressed the answer button.
The other person didn't mince words: "Brother Ji, this is Qingyan. To make a long story short, Tiantian is facing the uncertainty of graduation again and doesn't know what to do. Could you give her some guidance? Talking to Taozi didn't help."
"knew."
The call lasted only a dozen seconds.
After hanging up the phone, Ji Yuzhi stopped while the phone was still connected.
"Confused..." he murmured the two words.
"I've graduated..."
Ji Yuzhi had an impulsive idea in his head, but he didn't intend to stop himself.
He closed the book, his smile widening.
The villa gate creaked open, and Ji Yuzhi twirled his phone in his hand before it landed in his palm. He stood at the window and glanced at it.
It means the kids in the family have come home.
Zhen Tian walked listlessly to the front door, stood there for a few seconds seemingly lost in thought, then took a deep breath, put on a smile, and was about to open the door.
The villa's gate was opened from the inside.
"Zhizhi, I'm back." Zhen Tian giggled.
He said nothing, pinched the tip of her nose, and led her inside.
Once inside, he finally asked, "Did you have fun?"
"I'm so happy. I ate something delicious." Zhen Tian smiled.
Ji Yuzhi didn't want to see her forced smile, so he changed the subject and asked, "Do you remember the year my mother brought you a stone?"
“A stone? I remember, Mom told me to keep it safe.” Zhen Tian’s attention was indeed drawn.
"Yes, that's it. I need it. Go home and get it?" Ji Yuzhi wanted her to go back to H City, firstly to retrieve something, and secondly to clear her mind.
"Can I leave?" Zhen Tian asked, bewildered.
"Okay. As long as I don't leave, it's fine." Ji Yuzhi patted her head.
"You can't leave me, and I can't go anywhere." Zhen Tian hugged his waist. "I'll stay with you."
He loved the way Zhen Tian depended on him the most; his heartbeat softened, and he held her head tightly, gently smoothing her hair. "Don't be afraid, I'll be alright."
"Just...just..." With just those words, tears streamed down her face. She buried her face in his waist, not wanting him to see her cry, but the damp hem of her clothes already betrayed her: "You'll definitely be alright. I don't want anything to happen to you."
"Don't worry." Ji Yuzhi pursed his lips. He had hurt her again because of his choice. "At worst, I'll quit after this, and we can go back to the studio, okay?"
"Resign?" Zhen Tian's muffled voice came through: "Why resign? Everything's over, why resign now?"
"Because this profession always makes you live in fear, I feel sorry for you."
Ji Yuzhi lifted Zhen Tian's head, and sure enough, there were still tear stains on her little face.
He tenderly wiped the water from her cheeks, bent down and gently kissed her lips: "The princess I've protected as she grows up is always getting hurt. I hate this useless version of myself."
"Zhizhi~" Zhen Tian pouted, her lips trembling, and finally couldn't hold back her tears: "I'm afraid you'll go to jail, afraid I'll never see you again."
"I'm sorry, it's my fault."
Ji Yuzhi's heart ached. He gently patted her back with his hand, his eyes filled with pain: "Don't cry, don't cry. Be good!"
Sometimes people just need to cry to feel better. After Zhen Tian cried, the tightness in her chest seemed to open up, and even her breathing became much easier.
She sniffled, choking back sobs, "I still can't protect you. I keep telling myself not to cry."
"No, you did very well." Ji Yuzhi patted her back: "Why don't you go home and relax? I might be fine by the time you come back."
"No, I want to stay with you."
No matter how much Ren Jiyu tried to persuade her, Zhen Tian just wouldn't agree.
He sighed helplessly, "Fine, I won't go, I won't go."
"Hmm..." Zhen Tian hugged him again, choking back tears for a long time: "What...why do you want that stone?"
"You'll see later." Ji Yuzhi patted the back of her head: "Get up and wash your face. You're all covered in grime."
He led Zhen Tian to the bathroom and wiped her face a few times.
"Your phone seems to have rung." Zhen Tian wiped her face with a towel, ruffling the fine hairs around her forehead, making her little head look especially cute with its fluffy texture.
"Hmm." Ji Yuzhi returned unhurriedly.
"Boss!!!"
Zheng An's loud voice came from inside.
Ji Yuzhi tilted his head and hid far away.
"how?"
"You heartless man!" Zheng An began his one-man show: "You unfaithful bastard, you said you came back a few times after leaving the studio. They say you only hear the laughter of the new lover, never the tears of the old, and you've just abandoned us old flames, haven't you?!"
“Speak properly.” Ji Yuzhi frowned.
Zhen Tian, however, was amused by Zheng An's words. Ji Yuzhi immediately forgave Zheng An in his heart.
"Get up, I'll talk."
After a fierce argument, Feng Li finally answered the phone.
“Island”.
"Um."
"It's nothing, it's just that the China Translation Cup National Interpreting Competition sent an invitation to our studio before, wanting you to be a judge. But I declined at that time." Feng Li was much more reliable than Zheng An, getting straight to the point: "But they sent another invitation yesterday, wanting you to be a judge for the consecutive interpreting finals and the simultaneous interpreting invitational tournament. I thought it was only two events, so it shouldn't take up too much of your time. I wanted to ask if you'd like to go!"
"The Chinese Translation Cup?" Ji Yuzhi immediately recalled the scene of the competition. He seemed to have participated in the competition in his freshman year, so it goes without saying that he would definitely win first place.
This competition is quite prestigious and is a large-scale event.
Every year, several promising talents emerge from among them.
