Zhen Tian sat motionless at the table, holding chopsticks, her fists clenched against the edge of the table, waiting expectantly for Ji Yuzhi to come over.
She was very hungry.
If it weren't for her large belly, she really wouldn't have felt any signs of pregnancy.
It's no different from before.
Ji Yu went upstairs, quickly took a shower, and then changed into clean clothes before going downstairs.
He threw the old clothes he had just worn back into the washing machine to disinfect them.
We need to be extra careful in this situation.
"Zhizhi~~~" Zhen Tian watched him come down, walk closer to her, wrap her arms around his waist, and rest her chin on his waist and abdomen in a coquettish manner.
"You're such a pain." Ji Yuzhi indulged her as she swayed back and forth while hugging him, his hand gently kneading the top of her head.
"Why aren't you eating properly? What are you doing clinging to Yu Zhi again!" Lu Ti brought out the soup and saw her daughter clinging to Ji Yu Zhi like a big, limp dog. She couldn't bear to look.
"What's wrong with hugging my own husband?" Zhen Tian tightened her grip, burying her face completely in his stomach, not showing a single feature.
"How embarrassing!" Lu Ti looked at her with disdain.
"Mom, it's okay. She just likes to make a fuss." Ji Yuzhi smiled and shook his head at Lu Ti.
"That means she's her own husband, and she can hug him for as long as she wants." Liu Ye smiled as she carried a plate with four full bowls of rice on it.
"You just spoil her. You've spoiled her like this since she was little." Lu Ti put down the soup bowl, took off her cotton gloves and threw them aside: "She's a mother now, how long can you keep spoiling her like this?"
"Hehehe..." Zhen Tian turned her head and stuck out her tongue at Lu Ti, then buried her face back down.
"Are you asking for a beating?!" Lu Ti glared at the fluffy back of the head.
"Don't upset Mom." Ji Yuzhi changed his address to "Mom" the day he received the marriage certificate. Although he had called her Aunt Lu for over ten years, he changed it without any psychological burden. Unlike the girl in his family, who struggled for a long time before changing her address.
He softened his movements, removing the arm that was wrapped around his waist and taking both of her hands in his own: "Let's eat."
"Then feed me." It had been a long time since Zhizhi had come home this early, and it wasn't unreasonable for her to want to cling to him. She just wanted to be close to him.
After saying that, she added, "It's not that I want you to feed me, it's that the baby wants to."
She pointed to her belly.
"You've become arrogant because you're spoiled." Lu Ti's words were filled with disdain for her own daughter.
"Why are you meddling in their business? Let's eat." Liu Ye turned Lu Ti's head away from her children and shoved a spoon into her hand: "Drink the soup, it's especially delicious today."
Ji Yuzhi ruffled Zhen Tian's hair again, then picked up the bowl: "What do you want to eat?"
"Um, tofu." Zhen Tian raised her head and opened her mouth, waiting to be fed.
Ji Yuzhi scooped up a spoonful and then covered it with some rice.
Zhen Tian opened her mouth wide and stuffed the entire spoonful into it.
"I want this next bite," she said, pointing to the shrimp and corn that was closest to her.
Ji Yuzhi then filled a spoon with the same ingredients as above, and finally topped it with a piece of meat.
Lu Ti and Liu Ye, sitting opposite each other, suddenly missed their husbands at home.
Zhen Tian had almost finished her small bowl of rice when she remembered that Zhi Zhi hadn't eaten a single bite. She picked up a spoon and, imitating Ji Yuzhi's method, scooped up a spoonful and handed it to him.
He looked down at the spoon, hesitated for a moment, and then ate.
The dinner ended like this, with each of us feeding the other a spoonful.
Zhen Tian drank half a bowl more soup than usual.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Zhen Tian slumped in her chair while Lu Ti and Liu Ye went to clear the table.
Ji Yuzhi wanted to go with them, but his two mothers stopped him.
Lu Ti looked like she had a headache: "You can go take care of that ancestor outside, we don't need you here."
After Ji Yuzhi left, she was still saying to Liu Ye, "If I had acted like this in the Zhen family back then, I reckon Zhen Lei's mother would have wanted to kick me out as her daughter-in-law."
"I don't know if the old lady of the Zhen family will kick you out, but I will absolutely not kick Tian Tian out," Liu Ye joked with Lu Ti.
After so many years, they know each other all too well.
Liu Ye genuinely likes Zhen Tian, but after all, she's not her biological daughter. It wouldn't be good if one day this mother-in-law developed resentment towards Tian Tian.
Lu Ti's subtle mention of this matter was merely a test of Liu Ye's attitude.
Liu Ye naturally understood, and the two of them got the answer they both wanted to know by teasing each other.
When Ji Yuzhi walked out, Zhen Tian was still sprawled on the chair, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Are you tired?
"Not tired."
Even after hearing her say that, Ji Yuzhi still picked her up and laid her flat on the sofa.
"What are you doing?" Zhen Tian started to blush and struggled to sit up: "The mothers are all here."
Ji Yuzhi extended his right index finger and pressed her back down with just one finger: "Lie down."
Then he squatted down in front of the sofa, rubbed his palms together to warm them, and kneaded her calves.
Does this area hurt?
Zhen Tian blinked.
Ji Yuzhi patted his forehead; he was really busy: "Even if you can't feel it, you should still press it often to promote blood circulation."
Zhen Tian was lucky; she was lucky that she didn't suffer the same torment as other pregnant women. But no one can avoid leg swelling.
"My moms often give me massages," Zhen Tian answered honestly.
"Hmm." Ji Yuzhi pressed for a while: "This should be my job."
"What, is Zhizhi's name tattooed on my leg?" Zhen Tian knew he felt guilty, so she deliberately lifted her leg playfully: "Let me see, where is Zhizhi's name?"
"Stop fooling around." Ji Yuzhi was amused by her: "Remember that you are pregnant. Don't do sudden things all the time."
“You feel it’s sudden, but my brain has already taken control of my legs, so I don’t feel it’s sudden at all,” she teased him.
"You..." Ji Yuzhi couldn't do anything about her.
The two mothers, having finished washing the dishes, witnessed this heartwarming scene and, without disturbing it, quietly returned to their rooms.
After closing the door, Lu Ti clasped her hands together in prayer towards the window.
She felt her life had been smooth sailing, from going to school, getting married, getting pregnant, and having children. She had always been happy.
But she felt that the happiest and best decision she ever made was buying the house in H City and bringing a lonely little boy to live with her after discovering that there was one living across the street.
Night fell, and it was already dark.
The silence outside was like that of an anime, calm and still, while the lights inside the house shone brightly under the thick darkness of night.
Ji Yuzhi massaged Zhen Tian for a full hour.
Zhen Tian lay there comfortably, half asleep.
Since becoming pregnant, she has been sleeping very well, often getting plenty of sleep at night and taking several naps during the day.
