Chapter Fourteen: I Still Have a Good Dad, Pshaw!

"I picked this out when I went to H country last time, and I only finished assembling it these past two days." She handed the little pendant she bought from the Lego store to Ji Yuzhi. After it was assembled, it looked like a little dinosaur: "You should tie it to your backpack."

"Okay." Ji Yuzhi put away the green dinosaur and glanced at her balcony. Snack wrappers she had eaten were scattered everywhere, and comic books she had read were also lying on the floor.

He habitually shook his head and rolled up his sleeves to tidy her up.

"Zhizhi, you're so good to me." Zhen Tian hugged the large crocodile plush toy on the bed and rolled around a couple of times.

"What a mess! Who's going to clean this up for you now?" Ji Yuzhi quickly stuffed the snack bags into the trash can and then tidied up the comic books.

"You," Zhen Tian blinked, staring at his busy back, "you'll take care of me for the rest of your life anyway."

Ji Yuzhi paused for a moment, his back to her concealing the slight upturn of his lips: "I won't."

“You can, I say you can, so you can.” Zhen Tian started to act unreasonably.

Even though she wasn't sleepy before, she started to feel sleepy after tossing and turning in bed for a bit, and her eyelids started to droop.

Ji Yuzhi turned around and saw this scene. He covered her with the blanket and said, "Go to sleep."

"No..." She struggled for a couple of moments and then stopped moving: "I haven't taken a shower yet."

"It's okay, we'll wash it tomorrow morning. Go to sleep, sweetie."

"Hmm... Goodnight, just for you."

"Good night."

He tucked the blanket around her again and adjusted the angle of her pillow so that she wouldn't have neck pain when she woke up tomorrow.

As he reached the door, Ji Yuzhi turned back and glanced at her. He turned off the light, the darkness concealing his smile. He closed the door and left, leaving only the faint glow of the aromatherapy diffuser that Zhen's father had brought back.

"Where is that girl?" Lu Ti asked as she came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands.

"She's asleep. I'm going back now, Auntie. Where's Uncle?" Ji Yuzhi picked up his backpack.

“He went to play with his Lego enthusiasts,” Lu Ti joked.

Ji Yuzhi smiled and said, "Good night."

"Goodnight, my darling." Lu Ti patted his shoulder and saw him to the door.

Ji Yuzhi felt a warmth in his heart. He opened the door and disappeared from Lu Ti's sight.

…………

"Ha~"

Zhen Tian yawned and rubbed her eyes as she walked into the classroom.

"Here, here." Ye Qingyan waved to her: "Good morning, sweetie."

"Good morning, Qingyan." Zhen Tian took off her backpack and lazily lay on the table: "How come you're so energetic so early in the morning?"

"Didn't you sleep well?" Ye Qingyan took out two rice balls and some soy milk from her desk drawer: "Here."

"I've already eaten, this will do." Zhen Tian took the soy milk and lazily put it in her mouth. "I just took a shower this morning."

Ye Qingyan, chewing on a rice ball, mumbled, "Are you taking the start of school that seriously? You even burned incense and took a bath?"

"No, I fell asleep last night and didn't wash."

"Oh." Ye Qingyan quickly finished her breakfast. "I wonder what our teachers are like. I hope I don't run into the worst ones. I've had far too many terrible teachers in all my years of schooling..."

In the short time it took to talk, the classroom was full of people, and the room was filled with noisy chatter.

At this moment, the homeroom teacher walked in, and the sound of her voice gradually faded away.

"Good morning, everyone. From now on, I will be your class teacher for the next three years. I hope we can all work hard together and make the most of these three years, so that we can all get into a good university and start a new chapter in our lives."

Sparse applause rose from below, and Zhen Tian sat up straight and clapped along.

"Judging from the way the homeroom teacher is, I think she's alright," Ye Qingyan whispered, while winking at Zhen Tian.

"My surname is Yang. Besides being our homeroom teacher, I'm also our Chinese language teacher. Today's first class is Chinese, which coincides with our morning self-study time, so let's get to know each other. Let's start from the left. One student at a time, please stand up and introduce yourselves. You can say anything you like. It's best to have something unique that everyone will remember. Let's begin."

"There are so many people, it's impossible to remember them all." Ye Qingyan scratched her head and nudged Zhen Tian, who was watching intently from the side, with her elbow: "Have you remembered them all?"

"Hey, Zhen Tian..."

"Um?"

"What? You're spacing out?" Ye Qingyan covered her mouth and chuckled. "I remember there are over 60 people in this class, it's giving me a headache."

"Take your time to memorize it, you'll eventually remember it."

"That's true, hey... your pendant is quite pretty." Ye Qingyan picked up the pink dinosaur that Zhen Tian had hung on the zipper of her backpack: "Is it Lego?"

"Yes, I bought it with my parents in H country after the high school entrance exam."

"That's wonderful." Ye Qingyan's expression turned envious again. "Do you and your family often go on trips?"

Zhen Tian thought for a moment: "I don't go there all the time, but I'll go out for a stroll when I have time."

Ye Qingyan nodded without saying anything.

Time always flies when you're chatting.

In the blink of an eye, the boy sitting in front of Zhen Tian stood up and began to introduce himself.

"It's your turn." Ye Qingyan teased Zhen Tian again.

"Um."

"Next student," Teacher Yang called out.

"Hello everyone, my name is Zhen Tian. Please take care of me in the future."

After saying that, Zhen Tian sat down.

"You haven't said enough."

"Okay, next one."

Ye Qingyan stood up: "Hello everyone, hello teacher, my name is Ye Qingyan, which means 'beauty that can topple cities.' I think my name is quite fitting for me. Hahahaha."

She successfully made everyone in the class laugh.

"Yes, beautiful."

"Yes, beautiful lady."

A bunch of boys in the class started to jeer.

"Thank you, thank you. Keep it low-key." Ye Qingyan stretched out her hands and pressed them down, pretending to sit down.

"What a beauty!" Zhen Tian looked at her with a smile.

"Fine, you're making fun of me." Ye Qingyan reached out and pinched her cheek.

"No, I'm really serious," Zhen Tian said with a smile, dodging her hand.

It's been a while.

“My name is Mile, Mi as in rice and Le as in music.” The girl who didn’t get along with Zhen Tian and Ye Qingyan stood up and introduced herself: “You can call me Lele, or Xiaomi.”

"I don't have many hobbies, just playing the piano and practicing calligraphy."

Her face radiated undisguised arrogance: "It's a pleasure to meet you all. Please feel free to come to me with anything you need. I'll definitely help if I can, and even if I can't, my father can. Thank you."

Applause erupted.

Miler's pride was even more evident on his face.

"I usually enjoy playing the piano and practicing calligraphy. Oh, and I have a great dad." Ye Qingyan mimicked her speech playfully: "Pah, she really thinks she's a rich girl."

"That's an insult to the word."
