Chapter Seventeen: So Many People Need to Go to Pick Up the Book

"It's only the beginning of the semester, and she's already flirting with boys."

"How shameless. I would feel ashamed if I were their parents."

After class in the afternoon, Zhen Tian sat in her seat chatting and laughing with Ye Qingyan.

Miler's supporters walked past the two of them, making sarcastic remarks in not-so-loud voices.

"What's wrong with you?" Ye Qingyan rolled her eyes.

Zhen Tian shoved a big bag of potato chips into her arms and then smiled at her.

Ye Qingyan wanted to complain even more: "Your tendency to appease everyone is really bad. I'm holding my anger in here..."

She clenched her fist and punched the air a couple of times: "Ugh... this is really uncomfortable."

"There's no need for that." She's always been good-tempered, and she's never encountered anything that really makes her angry, so whether you call her a coward or a pushover, she doesn't care.

"Alright, alright, everyone, sit back down."

During evening self-study, Teacher Yang carried her belongings back to the classroom.

"It's a bit much to make you study on your own on the first day of school. So, we need to elect some class officers. It'll be voluntary election, and the students will vote. The positions to be elected are class monitor, academic representative, arts and culture representative, sports representative, and life representative. As for subject representatives, that's your subject teachers' job. The Chinese class representative will be the top two students in our class in Chinese. No objections, right?"

"No!" came the unanimous reply.

"That's settled then. Come on, raise your hand if you want to run for class monitor."

Zhen Tian was still sitting there looking around, watching the excitement, while Ye Qingyan next to her had already raised her hand high.

She turned around and almost bumped into her arm.

"Are you running for office?" Zhen Tian asked quietly.

“Yes. I was the class monitor in junior high.” Ye Qingyan nodded: “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.”

"Oh."

Throughout the entire class period, the class held multiple rounds of speeches and elections.

In the end, Ye Qingyan won the position of class monitor with a high number of votes. After all, she had caused quite a stir during her self-introduction that morning.

Miler actively participated and ultimately won by one vote to be elected as the arts and culture representative. The sports representative and academic representative were taken by two boys in the class, while the girl who lost to Miler settled for the position of life representative.

The curriculum for first-year high school students isn't as intense or demanding. Therefore, school ends after evening self-study. However, third-year students have two longer classes after evening self-study.

About a week into the new semester, Zhen Tian gradually adapted to high school life. After all, there were many more classes than in junior high.

In the pursuit of higher college entrance rates, schools are secretly competing with each other, even going so far as to lecture students during breaks.

Ye Qingyan slumped onto the table, utterly dejected: "I feel like my head is going to explode."

Zhen Tian also slumped onto the table and sighed.

Just then, there was a knock on the front door of the classroom.

"Tell your class monitor to organize people to go to the library to pick up the textbooks."

Ye Qingyan jumped up from her seat immediately: "Okay, I got it."

She patted Zhen Tian's head: "Although I really want to take you out, moving books is really not suitable for you. You should just focus on your studies."

"Hey guys in the class, who wants to move the books? Raise your hand!" Ye Qingyan shouted from the podium.

Based on her experience as class monitor, there would definitely be a lot of people going to collect the books at this time, and everyone would be in chaos, with so many books to count. It would take at least one class period to get back.

"I'll go."

"Me! Me! Me!"

Having been students for so many years, everyone knows what's going on with this kind of thing. A whole bunch of the usually active boys in class all raised their hands.

"You...you...you..." Ye Qingyan pointed at a few boys with a rather imposing air: "I'll call the other brothers next time."

"Let's go."

"yes."

Zhen Tian was a little bewildered by Ye Qingyan's domineering manner. What was with this gangster boss's imposing aura?

Seeing them swaggering off from class, Zhen Tian couldn't help but feel a little envious.

She looked at her notes from the past week.

*%@#¥

I don't understand it at all!

"Sit down, everyone, class is starting."

The math teacher was a young woman, but Zhen Tian disliked her. She simply disliked her because of her harsh-looking face, and this dislike extended to her dislike of math class as well.

In junior high, her favorite subject was math. Therefore, although she barely made it into the top high school in the high school entrance exam, she would have had no chance if it weren't for her perfect score in math, given her grades in the other subjects.

"Why are so many people missing?" The math teacher frowned deeply. "It's only the first day of school and you're already so unruly. Have you wasted all those years learning at school?"

She started cursing without any regard for the consequences.

"Teacher, they've gone to get the books," one of the bolder boys in the class said.

"Get the books? So many people are going to get the books? Bring the whole library back. You just want to skip class." I don't know what's wrong with her today, her face is all droopy.

The classroom fell silent instantly, a deathly silence, as no one wanted to provoke her.

"Have you all done your homework? Ask a few of you to write your answers on the blackboard."

Zhen Tian's brow twitched. Oh no, she didn't know how to do it.

I secretly took Ye Qingyan's notebook to learn from it, but when I looked at it, it was even cleaner than hers.

"Question 1: Zhou Zhou; Question 2: Zhang Meng; Question 3: Zhen Tian; Question 4:..."

Zhen Tian facepalmed. Oh no!

She dawdled toward the blackboard with her workbook in hand, glancing at other people's desks as she passed by.

The class representative, Shao Junli, immediately saw through her request and scurried the notebook toward the aisle.

Zhen Tian had only managed to read two lines when she was interrupted by her math teacher.

"What are you dawdling for? Hurry up!"

Zhen Tian was so frightened that she ran to the blackboard in a flash. Seeing everyone standing there scratching their heads, she felt much relieved.

He wrote down the two lines he had seen from Shao Junli, and then followed his train of thought to write something that was almost identical to what he had said.

Liu Zhen stood next to these students, and seeing their crooked handwriting and incorrect content, she was so angry that she wanted to slap the children awake.

"Go back to your seats. Look at the garbage you wrote on such a simple question."

Another shouting session ensued, and the students, like little chicks, wanted nothing more than to bury their heads in their desks.

"Who wrote this question!" Liu Zhen slammed the ruler on the blackboard.

Upon seeing this, Zhen Tian guiltily raised her hand.

"Careless! Careless!" She threw a piece of chalk at Zhen Tian: "You wrote everything correctly before, how could you make a mistake in the calculation? If this were the college entrance exam, one wrong calculation could prevent you from getting into university."

After saying that, Liu Zhen moved on to scolding the next student doing the problems. Those whose names weren't called on sat below, feeling fortunate.

Zhen Tian breathed a sigh of relief and exchanged a glance with Shao Junli.
