Zhen Tian knew that everyone was concerned about her, but if she told them why she ran away, they would probably think she had gone crazy.
She glanced at Ye Qingyan furtively, then pursed her lips and said, "I don't want to talk about it."
"If you don't want to talk about it, then don't." Zhen Lei stroked his daughter's head. "Your parents won't press you, but you must remember to take good care of yourself, no matter what. Don't worry everyone, okay?"
"I'm sorry. I know I was being willful. It won't happen again." Zhen Tian was always obedient, and her expression was always written on her face, so Zhen Lei wasn't worried at all that his daughter would do anything wrong. Since she didn't want to talk about it, he naturally didn't press her.
However, if this situation were to occur a few more times, he feared his heart wouldn't be able to handle it.
It seems that this matter has been put behind us.
Everyone tactfully refrained from mentioning it again.
At night, because Tian Tian woke up, only Ji Yuzhi stayed behind.
This was Zhen Tian's request.
"Go to sleep."
After wiping her cheeks with warm water, Ji Yuzhi sat down beside the hospital bed and looked at her.
"Zhizhi, don't you want to ask me?" Zhen Tian blinked her big eyes, showing no signs of sleepiness.
"If you want to talk, I'll listen; if you don't want to talk, I don't want to listen." Ji Yuzhi sighed softly, "It's good that you're doing well."
"Come here."
Zhen Tian waved to him, then carefully moved to the side and patted the spot next to her.
"It's been such a long, long time since you held me while I slept. Come up and tell me a story."
"Sweetie," Ji Yuzhi looked at her helplessly, "you've grown up."
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. Come here quickly, it's cold with the blanket off." Zhen Tian's eyes were clear and pure, without a trace of impurity.
Ji Yuzhi, who thinks too much, even despises himself.
"Come up here and I'll tell you a secret."
Unable to resist her, Ji Yuzhi took off his shoes and lay down. Before he could even settle down, Zhen Tian moved closer to him and squeezed into his arms.
Sniffing the familiar scent, Zhen Tian puffed out her cheeks: "This is my Zhizhi."
Ji Yuzhi didn't dare to hug her too tightly, afraid of touching any of her wounds. He could only hold her loosely to prevent her from falling off. It was still a bit of a struggle for two people to lie down on a single bed.
"What kind of story do you want to hear?" Ji Yuzhi asked in a low voice.
"Let me tell you a story first." Zhen Tian took two more breaths of Ji Yuzhi's scent, feeling a sense of peace and security in her heart.
She told him everything about her orphanage background and the truth about how she ended up in the comic book. The little girl's voice was soft and gentle, and she told the story vividly.
Ji Yuzhi was initially drawn to her story, but by the end he realized it wasn't a story at all; it was a fact.
He looked down and could only see the top of Zhen Tian's fluffy little head.
"Look up." Ji Yuzhi wanted to see if she was hiding and crying.
But unexpectedly, Zhen Tian had a smile on her face when she looked up.
He felt an overwhelming pang of heartache and gently rubbed the back of her neck with his hand: "You must have been terrified."
Zhen Tian nodded vigorously.
Having studied science for so many years, Ji Yuzhi found it hard to believe stories like transmigrating into a book. However, since Zhen Tian had said it, his body accepted the fact before his mind could.
He suddenly remembered when he was nine years old and had just moved here; Zhen Tian had indeed changed.
At first, the girl across from him would happily greet him.
And from some unknown day onwards, the little girl would hide whenever she saw him, as if she were afraid of him.
After this incident, he realized that Zhen Tian had probably been replaced by a different person back then.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, you are Zhen Tian, a child I know."
She snuggled against Ji Yuzhi's chest and said, "I really don't want to go back to being an orphan without a father, mother, or you."
"No, no."
I won't let you leave, I definitely won't. Ji Yuzhi thought to himself.
I had a good night's sleep.
Zhen Tian stayed in the hospital for a week, and after all her physiological indicators returned to normal, the doctor allowed her to be discharged.
After another week of doing nothing at home, Zhen Tian was finally allowed to go to school after much pleading.
After communicating with the school, Zhen's father was allowed to drive the car into the school. Once downstairs in the teaching building, Zhen Tian was carried into her classroom. She initially insisted that she could use crutches, but Ji Yuzhi refused.
When they arrived at the classroom door, Ji Yuzhi watched Zhen Tian walk inside. Then he waved to Shao Junli and Yang Feiguang.
"What's wrong, Senior Ji?"
The two were taken to a corner by Ji Yuzhi and released before the school bell rang.
It is unknown what Ji Yuzhi and the other two said, but all that is known is that in the days that followed, Shao Junli and Yang Feiguang treated Zhen Tian like a precious treasure, taking meticulous care of her.
Ji Yuzhi's smile only faded as he walked back to his classroom.
His personality could be described as aloof, yet he was gentler than anyone else when facing Zhen Tian; while he could be described as mild-mannered, he still maintained a considerable distance from others. He himself knew that he was actually a person without much emotion, not because he was born without it, but because he was too lazy to possess it.
When someone who maintains a distance from you shows you even a little kindness, you might instantly lose your head.
Shao Junli and Yang Feiguang were the two people who had lost their minds.
With Ji Yuzhi's intelligence, winning over two simple-minded teenagers would be incredibly easy.
Because it was inconvenient for Zhen Tian to walk back and forth with crutches, Teacher Yang specially moved her seat to the back of the class so that it would not affect her or the other students.
Ye Qingyan volunteered to go over, and the two continued to sit together.
"Why do they keep handing out these test papers?" Ye Qingyan took the Chinese test paper and casually stuffed it into her desk drawer.
Zhen Tian's desk was piled up almost like a small mountain because she hadn't been to class for a long time.
She picked up the sheets one by one, smoothed them out, folded them neatly, and stuffed them away.
"There's no way I can finish it." Ye Qingyan took out yesterday's homework and copied it from the classmates who had finished. "I'm suddenly a little envious of you taking the day off."
Zhen Tian smiled but didn't say anything.
She took a thick notebook out of her backpack, opened it, and quietly lay down on the table.
Ye Qingyan finished copying the homework before it was collected, and she slumped against the back of her chair with a sigh of relief.
"What are you doing? Why are you so quiet?" Ye Qingyan peered over the books in the middle and peeked at Zhen Tian's notebook.
"What's this? It's so cute." Ye Qingyan looked at the cartoon characters in the notebook with delight. "Don't tell me you drew this?"
"yes."
"My goodness, you're so talented!" Ye Qingyan took the notebook from Zhen Tian and flipped through it page by page. "My girlish heart is fluttering! This is just too cute!"
She kept emphasizing it, and Zhen Tian laughed happily along with her.
