Chapter 156 Eating dog food is the best

"Hey, what's all this commotion about?" Wen Jiujiu yawned as she walked into the studio.

"Oh no, the boss caught us late." The guys in the tech department are usually closest to us when we drink warm wine, and they're always the most enthusiastic when it comes to joining in the fun.

"What? The boss is here?" Wen Jiujiu shrank back guiltily, looking around.

"So you guys are so relaxed about work when I'm not around?" Ji Yuzhi teased Wen Jiujiu, noticing her guilty look through the crowd.

"Hahaha... Boss." Wen Jiujiu straightened up, glanced at Zhen Tian next to Ji Yuzhi, and muttered softly, "I thought you would spend some time with your sister-in-law. Who knew you would be so dedicated?"

"Is it my fault?" Ji Yuzhi raised an eyebrow.

"No, no, no, I was wrong. I'll work an extra hour. Hehehe..." Wen Jiujiu avoided Ji Yuzhi's gaze and slipped to her workstation.

"Alright, everyone disperse." Ji Yuzhi waved his hand and led Zhen Tian to his office.

"What's wrong, boss? You seem to be in a good mood." The man next to Wen Jiujiu said, stepping over the partition between them, "You didn't say anything when you were late."

Wen Jiujiu yawned again and glanced at the man casually: "Isn't that obvious? Do you think your sister-in-law is just standing next to him for nothing?"

"You mean the boss is so easy to talk to because his wife is around?"

Can't you tell?

"I didn't realize our boss was such a love-struck fool."

"Young man, you still have a lot to learn." Wen Jiujiu yawned again: "If I had known that the boss was this dedicated, I wouldn't have played so many games last night. I was so sleepy."

"You can stay here. If you get sleepy, take a nap." Ji Yuzhi settled Zhen Tian on the only sofa in his office and then sat down behind his desk.

"Don't worry about me, just do your thing."

Ji Yuzhi looked up at her and said, "If you're bored, go out for a stroll."

"Okay, I know. But I haven't seen your roommates."

He glanced at his watch: "He went out to a meeting and hasn't come back."

"Oh." Zhen Tian stopped talking. She yawned, hugged the cushion she was holding on the sofa, but couldn't fall asleep.

She took out her graphics tablet from her backpack and started writing and drawing on it.

Seeing that she had calmed down, Ji Yuzhi finally focused on the documents in front of him.

The air in the office seemed to stop flowing as the two fell silent, with only the scratching sound of pens pressing against paper filling the room.

"Ta-da! Yuzhi, this is..."

A knock sounded on the door, and the two people inside looked up at the same time. Their gazes met briefly in the air before settling on the woman who appeared behind the door.

Zhao Anran wasn't in the office yesterday; she was out attending a meeting, so she naturally didn't know Zhen Tian had come.

She was taken aback when she opened the door and saw that there was another person inside.

Seeing that Zhao Anran's gaze lingered on her for a few seconds, Zhen Tian raised her hand and waved to her: "Hello."

Zhao Anran gripped the documents tightly, her fingers digging into the paper, and managed a smile as she suppressed her turbulent emotions: "Hello."

Then she turned to look at Ji Yuzhi behind the desk, who was laughing at Zhen Tian's little actions. Her lowered eyelashes concealed the emotions in her eyes.

"Yuzhi, here are the meeting materials and post-meeting summary from yesterday."

"Okay, put it down."

Ji Yuzhi put down the documents in his hand, picked up the things Zhao Anran had brought in, and carefully examined them page by page.

Seeing that there was nothing for her to do, Zhen Tian lowered her head again to color the character she had finished drawing.

"Not bad." Ji Yuzhi quickly glanced through the document. "I have great confidence in your work ability. Recently, quite a few people have approached the studio specifically requesting you to do translations. If you are more careful and meticulous, you won't make any mistakes."

"I will try my best." Zhao Anran smiled and said that Ji Yuzhi's praise of her in front of Zhen Tian made her feel proud.

"Um."

Ji Yuzhi handed the items back to Zhao Anran and continued looking down at the documents on the table.

One minute later.

He looked up: "Is there anything else?"

Zhao Anran stared at his face, lost in thought, until he spoke, snapping her out of it. As she anxiously tried to find an excuse, she suddenly noticed the wall clock: "It's lunchtime..."

She deliberately softened her voice: "Can we let everyone go eat now?"

"Lunchtime?" Ji Yuzhi glanced at his watch. "It's so late."

"Yes, I'll treat you and Zhen Tian..."

"Let's have a meal together." Ji Yuzhi didn't even look at her, and waved to the girl on the sofa whose eyes lit up at the mention of food: "Why didn't you say you were hungry?"

Zhen Tian put down her tablet and ran to his side, skipping and jumping. She put her little hand into Ji Yuzhi's outstretched palm, and waited for him to close it before speaking: "I can bear with it, you're busy."

"How much trouble have you caused when you're busy?" Ji Yuzhi tapped her forehead.

"So I shouldn't learn to be sensible?" Zhen Tian was led to her feet by him.

"You don't need to be sensible..."

He led her to the office area: "Lunch gathering."

"Wow..." Everyone cheered for a while, but then their attention was drawn to Ji Yuzhi's gentle appearance, and they seemed to be speechless.

"What would you like to eat?" Ji Yuzhi asked softly.

"I'm all set, whatever you want." Zhen Tian smiled shyly.

"Don't worry about them, what can't a bunch of men eat..."

"Yeah, we'll eat anything, but dog food is the best!"

Someone in the crowd started jeering, and everyone burst into laughter.

"Then let's have hot pot..." Zhen Tian resisted the urge to hide and thought seriously before speaking: "Hot pot should be something that everyone can eat."

“Okay, hot pot it is. My dear sister-in-law, you really understand me. I was just thinking about whether we should have hot pot for lunch.” Wen Jiujiu squeezed out of the crowd to support Zhen Tian.

"Okay, okay, let's have hot pot. Which place?"

"There's a private hot pot restaurant on Dongxi Road... the taste is absolutely amazing."

"It's definitely Haidilao, the classic flavor."

"I think there's a good old shop..."

Everyone was chattering away, and Zhen Tian was caught up in the lively atmosphere, her eyes crinkling with laughter.

Zhao Anran stood behind the two of them, and their harmonious appearance stung her eyes.

Ever since Ji Yuzhi entered the school, she had her eye on this boy. Zhao Anran was the undisputed beauty of the bilingual college, adored by everyone. But she only had eyes for Ji Yuzhi. During school hours, he didn't participate in any clubs or student council activities, so she had no chance to get close to him. The few times they did meet were during competitions.

She finally learned that he had opened a studio, and she had to pull many strings to be recommended for the position.

She thought that being close to the water tower would give her an advantage, but who could have imagined that this man already had a childhood sweetheart he cherished?

She was unwilling to be defeated by time.
