Chapter 8 The Prince Comes for a Private Meeting
"I won't divorce her." Xiao Lingyu paused and said calmly, "I don't love Bizhu, but I will respect her."
Shen Junheng learned from the original owner's memory that Shen Biju loved Xiao Lingyu deeply. Even though she knew that he didn't love her, she felt very happy as long as she could stay with him.
She doesn't agree with being in love, but she respects it.
She originally wanted to find out what he meant, but she didn't expect him to answer like that, which made her unable to help but look at him again.
Perhaps it was because the book deliberately portrayed him as stupid, or perhaps it was because he was reborn, but Shen Junheng felt that he was quite likable.
Shen Junheng asked sincerely: "So, even without the relationship with the Shen Mansion, you will still treat her well, right?"
"She is your sister, I will naturally treat her well." Xiao Lingyu laughed, not knowing whether he was laughing at her for asking a question she already knew the answer to, or at himself.
Xiao Lingyu originally wanted to marry the original owner, but she ended up marrying He Pingzhi. The Shen family forced Shen Bizhu on him, and he married Shen Bizhu because of the original owner. He knew that the original owner and Shen Bizhu had a deep sisterly bond, and with this bond, even if she had no feelings for him, she couldn't completely ignore him.
Shen Junheng understood it all, but with his statement, he naturally felt more at ease.
"I've finished what I want to say. You can go now." Shen Junheng stretched out a hand and made a "please" gesture.
"It's not easy for me to come and see you, and you're sending me away now?" Xiao Lingyu said as he slowly stood up.
"Goodbye, I won't see you off." Shen Junheng had a blank expression on his face.
Xiao Lingyu suddenly leaned over and attacked her, almost face to face with her. He whispered in her ear, "Does it still hurt?"
His sudden approach caught Shen Junheng off guard, her heart skipping a beat. His warm breath brushed against her ear, causing her to blush and momentarily lose consciousness.
What was he asking? Oh, asking if her face hurt.
She quickly stretched out her hands to push him away, but although he looked a bit effeminate, he was very strong and she couldn't move him at all.
"It doesn't hurt." Shen Junheng pushed him again and whispered, "Go away, or don't blame me for screaming molest."
"Go ahead and yell, then I won't have to leave." Xiao Lingyu moved his upper body slightly back, holding Shen Junheng's cheeks with both hands as if holding a priceless treasure, and murmured, "Tell me, if I use the position of crown prince in exchange for you, will Xiao Linghe be happy to make this deal?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Junheng's eyes widened immediately.
He would give up his kingdom to please you, and for her, he would give up the position of crown prince.
It sounds so infatuated and romantic.
But the truth was, even if he voluntarily gave up the crown prince position and Xiao Linghe promised her to him after ascending the throne, there would be no good outcome for them. Since ancient times, victors have been kings and losers have been bandits. Could Xiao Linghe really let him go?
Not to mention that she has no feelings for him, even if they are in love with each other, how can she live a peaceful life with a deposed prince who missed the throne?
"You are stupid, don't drag me down with you! I don't want to!" Shen Junheng pushed him hard again with a cold face, and this time, he finally pushed him.
Xiao Lingyu stood up, his pupils dim, like a wounded little animal, but a stubborn smile still lingered on the corners of his mouth: "Shen Junheng, do you like He Pingzhi so much?"
Shen Junheng sighed softly and looked up at him: "I don't like him, but I don't like you either. I don't want to get involved in party disputes. I just want to be the second lady of the Shen family and live a comfortable and happy life."
"You said you don't like He Pingzhi?" Xiao Lingyu's smile suddenly spread to his eyebrows and eyes, "Then how do you know you don't like me?"
Shen Junheng laughed dryly and rolled his eyes at him: "Xiao Lingyu, are you annoying?"
"Okay, I'll leave now. You just be a loyal minister and leave your things to me. The Corgi in your yard is mine. If you miss me, just tell him." Xiao Lingyu did not hide the reluctance in his eyes, but after saying this, he jumped nimbly and landed on the beam. He picked off a few tiles on the roof, and when a small hole was exposed, he jumped up from the small hole.
He waved down at her, then put the tiles back in place, moving quickly and quietly without making any noise.
Shen Junheng looked at the roof for a long time, and only lay down to sleep again after making sure that he had left.
The next day, Zheng Caiyi came to pay her respects at dawn.
"Miss, are you here?" Liu Xiaodie walked in carrying toiletries.
She had already said that she didn't need to pay her respects, but now she came here eagerly. She must have come here for no reason.
Shen Junheng sat up, stretched, and said, "See you. Let her wait outside first. Come here."
"Yes." Liu Xiaodie walked in front of Shen Junheng, and Shen Junheng whispered a few words in her ear. Although she was confused, she did not ask any more questions and just nodded. After she finished her instructions, she went out to reply to Zheng Caiyi.
Shen Junheng remembered that Zheng Caiyi was just an insignificant supporting character, a tool in the family fight. There was not much description about her, and she couldn't figure out why she came to her. Could it be for the family fight?
She only remembered that her ending was quite tragic. After the original owner died, she wanted to become He Pingzhi's legal wife, which angered Xiao Linghe. She was driven out of the He Mansion and then caught by the bad guys, sold to a brothel, and tortured to death.
When Shen Junheng saw her ending, he couldn't help but complain that the author was too vicious. If he didn't like this minor supporting character, he could have just written her out of the He Mansion and left it at that. Why did he also write about her being sold to a brothel and tortured to death? In his eyes, are supporting characters not human beings?
After Shen Junheng finished washing up, she sat in the main seat, slightly adjusted her skirt, and asked Liu Xiaodie to invite her in.
"I pay my respects to the mistress." Zheng Caiyi came over gracefully, bowed to her politely and served her tea. She was very polite, with lowered brows and a pleasant look, unlike the complacent look she had that night in bed.
Shen Junheng took the tea she offered, took a sip and put it on the table, signaling the maid with her eyes to let her sit down.
She had only seen the etiquette and manners of ancient high-ranking officials and noble ladies on TV and mobile phones before, and didn't quite understand them. In order to prevent others from noticing the clues, she locked herself in the room and practiced hard for a long time according to the original owner's memory. Now she has mastered it naturally.
With the experience of attending the banquet in the palace yesterday, she was able to control this body very well, and her every move was elegant and dignified.
Zheng Caiyi sat down. After Shen Junheng exchanged a few pleasantries with her, she naturally turned the topic to Xiao Linghe, saying in a casual tone, "His Royal Highness the Prince of Yan seemed to be quite caring towards our master yesterday."
Shen Junheng understood that she had come to her to find out something.
Although Xiao Linghe and He Pingzhi did not have any deliberate communication yesterday, even when He Pingzhi was caught, Xiao Linghe knew how to act when saving him. If Shen Junheng had not read the book, he might not have been able to tell that there was something fishy going on between them.
I didn't expect Zheng Caiyi to be so sharp-minded that she could see the ambiguity between them.
Shen Junheng said calmly, "Be careful with your words. He Pingzhi is not involved in the party dispute."
Shen Junheng did not deny it. Zheng Caiyi was not stupid. She immediately understood that her guess was true, and a hint of sadness appeared in her eyes.
