Chapter 66: Sabotage

Chapter 66: Sabotage

When Aunt Ye heard what Father Ye said, she just thought that the leaves were tender and wanted to pick as many as possible so that she could give some to her parents-in-law, so she didn't stop him.

When Dad Ye had picked enough, he opened the fence and Aunt Ye followed him in. They looked around and found that the vegetables were growing really well.

"Would you like some sweet potato vines? We just picked a batch a couple of days ago, so there are still a few left."

Aunt Ye liked it very much. Seeing this, she didn't hesitate and pinched it herself.

Father Ye looked around and found out that Zhao Feng had sent people to take away a lot of vegetables a few days ago. They would have to wait for the next batch of vegetables to mature. Some vegetables had to be replanted, or more varieties had to be planted.

This sloping land covers several acres. Dad Ye thought that Aunt Ye still had to buy vegetables in the city, so he wanted to add some variety.

He remembered that the first few watermelon seedlings that Ye Zi planted when he returned home were growing well. They had already borne fruit the last time he saw them. He hadn't checked on them for a while and didn't know how they were doing now.

There were a few pumpkins growing in the corner of the slope. The pumpkin vines were very domineering, spreading and climbing from the corners. Many pumpkin flowers bloomed and many tender vines sprouted. I picked out the tender tips with my hands and pinched a bunch, thinking that the pumpkin vines were enough and the pumpkin flowers were also delicious.

I bent down to pick flowers again, and just as I pulled aside the pumpkin leaves, I was met with a pair of big round eyes.

This creature is fat and short, with a short and pointed mouth and a round back covered with spikes.

As if startled, it shrank back into the grass nest, revealing the little thing clinging tightly to its back and under its body.

Wow, this hedgehog family has moved back again?

The last time, Dad Ye encountered a hedgehog when he was weeding and clearing land. Later, when the vegetables were ripe, many wild rabbits dug holes and ate the vegetables. He started to stare at the fields every day and found two big hedgehogs again.

Dad Ye carefully built a nest for them and moved them to another place. It’s only been a short time and these little cubs are already born!

He came back with his family.

The big hedgehog curled up, no longer afraid of people, and ate the snails he caught with both hands.

Hey, this little thing, Dad Ye thought about it and decided not to move the hedgehog away. There were plenty of insects and crickets in the field anyway, so there was enough food.

After covering it with grass leaves again, Dad Ye stood up and tied up the pumpkin vines with something, planning to go to the other side to check on the okra planting.

There were not many ripe okra when we harvested them last time, but there should be quite a few in the next few days.

The okra had grown very tall and had large leaves. Dad Ye was picking the ripe ones. When he was about to change direction, he inadvertently glanced at the wolfberry fence next to him, and instantly a burst of anger rushed from his heart to his forehead.

Who is this wicked person?

I saw that behind the okra and a row of beans, not only had all the wolfberry leaves been picked, but even the seedlings had been pulled out and thrown aside. The leaves had wilted, leaving a big gap.

I don't know when it was done, I really didn't notice it at all.

Ye's father went forward to check, cursing. The wolfberries had been planted not long ago, and the roots had just taken hold of the soil and the sprouts had just grown. But they were planted too densely, and the grown leaves could have blocked out the wild things. But he didn't expect that while he could protect against animals, he couldn't protect against human hearts.

This is obviously man-made!

Or it's intentional, just to cause trouble and disgust people.

Father Ye was so angry that he couldn't hold back his anger and a string of curse words came out of his mouth.

He said, the fence was obviously tightly tied, so how could the hedgehog get in?

So that's how it is. Now it seems that not only hedgehogs, but even cows can come in and eat!

The person who did this obviously had bad intentions. He secretly destroyed the fence in a dead corner where no one could see. Not only could wild animals get in, but if cows from the village walked in, the vegetables would either be eaten or, in worse cases, trampled.

What about the contract? These vegetables still need to be delivered on time.

Aunt Ye heard the noise coming from Father Ye's side, and walked closer towards the sound, and saw the damaged fence at a glance.

His face suddenly became serious, and his brows were tightly knitted:

"When did this kind of person appear in our village? Do you know who did this?"

"I don't know. There's no trace at all. It's blocked by the bean racks. You can't see it unless you look closely." Dad Ye shook his head.

"This person is so evil. He really can't stand seeing others doing well!"

"How about we install a few surveillance cameras here?" Aunt Ye suggested.

She grew up here since she was a child. Although there were sometimes minor frictions and things were lost in the village, she had never seen anything like this.

What a sinister person! What is he trying to do? Is it easy for her brother to grow some vegetables and sell them?
