Chapter 1 Rebirth and Awakening
“Gurgle…”
Early in the morning, Lu Qing woke up to the sound of his stomach growling.
Feeling the hunger in his stomach, he sighed and touched his belly.
"It's no use for you to yell. Where can I get food now?"
Looking at the shabby house he was in, which was bare, Lu Qing smiled bitterly.
Others traveled through time while he did, but he couldn't even fill his stomach. What was this?
He has been lying in bed for two days.
Two days ago, Lu Qing opened his eyes and found himself in this inexplicable world.
His clothes were ragged, he was skinny, and even his body had changed into a teenager.
After some time, Lu Qing figured out his situation.
He traveled through time.
He was reborn as a young boy whose parents had just passed away. After selling his property and burying his parents, he was too weak and too sad to survive a cold night.
Perhaps, for the original owner, this is a relief.
This was Lu Qing’s first thought after receiving the memory in his mind.
It is very difficult for a teenager to survive in this world.
Death is not necessarily a bad thing.
only……
"Brother, you're awake!"
Lu Qing's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a surprised shout.
He turned around and saw a little girl about five or six years old, holding a gray object in her hand, standing at the door and looking at him with surprise on her face.
The little girl ran to Lu Qing and asked, "Brother, are you well now?"
"Well, that's okay, Xiaoyan, don't worry anymore." Lu Qing said with a smile.
"That's great, brother, you're finally fine." Hearing Lu Qing say that everything was fine, the little girl's eyes suddenly turned red, and tears kept falling down, "Your face has been very red and hot these past two days, and you kept saying you were cold. I didn't know what to do. No matter how I called you, you didn't respond. I thought you were going to abandon Xiaoyan like your father and mother did!"
Looking at the little girl crying, Lu Qing felt heartbroken.
He has been integrating the memories in his mind for the past two days, and he seems to be in a coma. Although he can barely sense the movements of the outside world, his consciousness is not always clear.
Except for waking up briefly a few times, he soon fell into coma again.
He vaguely heard the little girl's cry, but he could not respond.
Lu Qing stretched out his hand and rubbed the little girl's dry yellow hair: "It's my fault, brother. I promise you that I will never get sick again and make Xiaoyan worry, okay?"
"Okay." Xiaoyan smiled and stretched out her hand, "Then let's make a pinky promise."
Lu Qing stretched out his little finger and hooked it with Xiaoyan.
"Hang on, don't change for a hundred years. Whoever changes will be a puppy!"
After making the pinky promise, Xiaoyan immediately became happy.
In her little head, since the promise has been made, things will not change and her brother will never get sick again.
"Xiaoyan, what are you holding in your hand?"
At this time, Lu Qing noticed what the little girl was holding in her hand.
"It's a steamed bun, brother, don't you recognize it?" Xiaoyan held the gray thing in both hands and handed it to Lu Qing, saying happily, "This was given to me by Grandpa Zhang next door. Xiaoyan couldn't bear to eat it alone, so she wanted to bring it back to eat with brother. I didn't expect that when I came back, I saw that my brother had recovered from his illness."
"Steamed bun?"
Lu Qing looked at the gray thing and found it quite different from the steamed bun he had in mind.
But when he thought that he was now in another world, he felt relieved.
Even the world has changed, so it’s nothing strange that steamed buns have changed.
Thinking this in his mind, Lu Qing's gaze stayed on the gray steamed bun for a few seconds, and suddenly, a line of words appeared.
[Multi-grain steamed bread: Made from a mixture of rice bran, wheat flour and wild vegetables, it has limited nutrition.]
At the same time, the steamed bun also emitted a layer of gray light.
What's this?
Lu Qing was stunned. He blinked and found that the line of words was still on the gray steamed bun and had not disappeared.
It doesn't seem to be an illusion...
Before Lu Qing could continue to explore, Xiaoyan held the gray steamed bun and handed it to his mouth.
"Brother, I'll give it to you. You've just recovered from your illness. Grandpa Chen said that after a sick person recovers, he needs to eat to nourish his body."
Lu Qing smelled the grain smell coming from the gray steamed buns. He was already very hungry, and the feeling of hunger swept through his body again.
He didn't act pretentiously. After taking it, he tore off half of it and put it back in Xiaoyan's hand.
"Yes, Xiaoyan will eat with us too."
He did not forget that the little girl had just said that the steamed bun was given to her by someone else and she wanted to come back to share it with him.
Unexpectedly, the little girl shook her head and stuffed the half of the bun back into Lu Qing's hand: "Brother, eat it. Xiaoyan is not hungry. Brother has just recovered from his illness. Eat more so that your body can get better quickly."
Although he said this, Lu Qing clearly saw that when the little guy handed the steamed bun back, he swallowed his saliva unconsciously.
He looked at the dry and yellow hair on the little girl's head, felt pity in his heart, and put half of the steamed bun back into her hand.
"Brother has just recovered from his illness. He can't eat too much at once, otherwise his stomach won't be able to handle it. So Xiaoyan should eat this half."
"Is that so?" The little guy asked, holding half a steamed bun and tilting his head, "But this seems different from what Grandpa Chen said."
"People who have just recovered from a serious illness should not overeat. If you don't believe me, go ask Grandpa Chen next time and see if it's true." Lu Qing said.
"Okay." The little guy nodded, not quite understanding.
But they never realized that a mere multi-grain steamed bun has nothing to do with overeating.
Lu Qing took the opportunity to continue fooling him: "Since brother can't finish it, Xiaoyan should eat it with brother, otherwise the steamed buns will get cold and won't taste good."
"Yes!" Xiaoyan nodded heavily, "Since brother can't finish it, Xiaoyan will help him eat it."
The brother and sister each held half of the steamed bun and ate it happily.
Soon, Lu Qing finished his half steamed bun. His empty stomach finally had something to fill it. A sense of warmth rose from his abdomen, making him feel much more energetic.
To be fair, the taste of this steamed bun is not that good, but it is solid and large in size.
So even if it was only half, Lu Qing's hunger was slightly reduced. He was no longer as hungry as before, feeling dizzy and weak in his hands and feet.
Seeing Xiaoyan still chewing the steamed bun diligently, Lu Qing didn't disturb her and began to focus on another thing.
He remembered the line of words that had appeared on the steamed bun earlier.
After thinking about it, Lu Qing stood up, walked to the table, and picked up a bowl with a missing corner.
Place it in front of you and look at it quietly.
Then, after a few seconds, he saw a layer of gray light appear on the bowl and a line of words appeared.
[Broken pottery bowl: A broken pottery bowl that doesn't look very clean.]
As expected, a smile appeared on Lu Qing's face.
