After bandaging the wound with gauze, Han Yao tried to stand up but Xiao Wen Ning held his shoulders. He raised his eyes and asked, "What do you want to take? I'll help you."
Han Yao said nonchalantly, "It's okay, just a minor injury."
Xiao Wen Ning quickly stood up and said with some guilt: "You were injured because of me, I have to take good care of you."
For dinner, Xiao Wen Ning specifically ordered a nourishing soup. After the takeout arrived, he took it to the kitchen to heat it up. After dinner, Xiao Wen Ning took the initiative to clean up. Han Yao went upstairs to give his calves a quick waterproofing treatment and opened the bathroom door to clean himself up.
After finding a basin and filling it with water, he heard the bathroom door being pushed open. Xiao Wen Ning tiptoed in. He took a towel and smiled at Han Yao twice: "Let me help you wipe it."
Han Yao raised his eyebrows and looked at him, took off his shirt without hesitation, and then sat on a low stool waiting for him to serve him.
Xiao Wen Ning soaked the towel and wrung out the water. He sat on the edge of the bathtub, ready to help Han Yao wipe his back.
Han Yao had broad shoulders and a thick back, with well-defined muscles. Xiao Wen Ning was about to sigh in admiration when he discovered countless scars of varying depths on his back.
Han Yao waited for a while and saw that Xiao Wen Ning didn't move. He turned around and asked, "What's wrong?"
Xiao Wen Ning took the towel and gently wiped his back: "How did it happen?"
"What?"
"The wound on your back."
"Oh," Han Yao thought for a moment and said, "I used to have a lot of missions, so bumps and bruises are inevitable." Han Yao said it casually, but some of the scars on his back didn't look too casual. Xiao Wen Ning raised a finger and gently pressed on a spot and asked, "How did you get this injury?"
Han Yao felt the soft touch of his fingertips and recalled, "I went to rescue some kidnapped children, and one of them was stabbed with a dagger while not paying attention."
"What about here?" His finger slid lightly and moved to another place.
"This was also caused by a short weapon. We were not allowed to carry guns and ammunition that time. The enemy group hid in a small village. In order not to alert the villagers, we chose to launch a sneak attack in the middle of the night. The short knife was sharp. I was a rookie at that time and didn't take any protective measures. Later, I was stabbed a few times, and I learned my lesson." After saying this, he seemed to recall something and laughed twice.
Xiao Wen Ning was a little distracted staring at the scars when he suddenly thought Han Yao's laughter was hearty and beautiful. He snapped back to his senses and hurriedly moved his hand to another place: "Isn't this a knife wound?"
Han Yao was quiet for a few seconds, then nodded and said, "I was shot, but I managed to survive. The mission is confidential, so I won't tell you."
Seeing that he didn't say anything more, Xiao Wen Ning picked up the towel and continued to wipe his back: "You seem to like your previous life very much."
Han Yao looked at the corner of the bathroom with a longing look in his eyes: "Yes."
"Then why did you come back? People like you... can't you choose to stay?"
Han Yao answered bluntly, "Yes, if I were alone and had no worries, I might stay there forever."
"care?"
"Yes, some people live for themselves, but some people can't live for themselves. I've already lived for myself once in the first twenty years. In the next few decades, I want to live for my family and my unknown lover. Although I don't know where my lover is yet, I have to be fully prepared to welcome his arrival."
Xiao Wen Ning's eyes were somewhat empty: "Do you... yearn for these?"
Han Yao said without hesitation, "I do. Who doesn't yearn for love? I've never been in love before."
After saying that, Han Yao paused for a few seconds and asked, "You are not serious about me, are you?"
Xiao Wen Ning suddenly stopped what he was doing. If Han Yao had asked him this a day ago, he might have been able to give a correct answer, but now, he suddenly didn't know how to answer.
He looked at the deep and shallow marks on Han Yao's back and changed the subject: "Don't you feel regretful about leaving your previous life?"
Seeing that he didn't answer, Han Yao didn't care and continued to answer his question: "I feel that there are too many things I regret, but how can I live with regrets all my life? I have to move forward to discover more and better things. I have experienced the life I want most at my best age, so next I should do something else."
Xiao Wen Ning stared at the back of his head in a daze: "You live a very free and easy life."
Han Yao kept smiling: "Not bad."
Xiao Wen Ning continued what he was doing: "After you left there, did you find anything better?"
Han Yao raised the corner of his mouth: "There is no good thing, but there is one interesting person."
"Who is it?"
"You."
Xiao Wen Ning finally smiled: "Am I funny?"
"Well, you have a lot of little secrets."
"You want to know?"
"You'll tell me?"
"I won't tell you."
After finally helping Han Yao wipe, Xiao Wen Ning washed the towel and looked up at him: "Han Yao, I'll take you to experience it. How about you never felt it before?"
Han Yao put on his clothes and agreed casually: "Okay."
After resting for two days and seeing that Han Yao's calf was not seriously injured, Xiao Wen Ning took him to a place mysteriously early in the morning.
It was a weekday, and even though the weather was nice, there were still few tourists in the area. Han Yao's eyes twitched slightly as he looked at Xiao Wen Ning, who had gone alone to buy a ticket.
The line wasn't very long. A few minutes later, the two of them passed through ticket inspection. Xiao Wen Ning looked at the park map for a long time, then moved closer to Han Yao and asked, "Which attraction should we try first?"
Although Han Yao thought it was a bit strange for two men, who were fifty years old in total, to come to the amusement park together, since they were already there, he decided not to be shy and was ready to have fun. He had longed for this place when he was a child. At that time, his entertainment activity was to watch the elderly cadres playing chess with the guards.
After growing up, he was busy preparing to join the army and had long forgotten about places like this. Today, he finally had the opportunity to come in. He looked at the surrounding facilities and said to Xiao Wen Ning, "I've never been here. Which one do you think is more fun?"
Xiao Wen Ning's face was blank: "I haven't been here either."
Han Yao felt cheated: "Didn't you say you would take me to experience something fun?"
Xiao Wen Ning grinned: "Yeah, it just so happens that I can experience it too."
"So what if it's not fun?"
"If it's not fun, I'll just compensate you."
