Chapter 14 Osmanthus Cake... Is it considered a kind of "cake"?
Chu Xuanyi returned to the Imperial Master's Mansion. He felt as if his soul had been taken away from him. He threw himself into the armchair with unsteady steps and it took him a long time to recover.
He finally understood that Ah Jiu was simply beyond his control. Her train of thought was so peculiar that it could confuse the entire Imperial Hospital, her ability to "get into trouble" was enough to make the Minister of Justice bow down to her inferiority, and her "shitty luck"... oh no, "good fortune" was so profound that even the Empress Dowager could be coaxed into a smile and receive endless rewards.
What else could he do? He was desperate too!
"Forget it, forget it!" Chu Xuanyi sighed and waved his hand weakly at the housekeeper who rushed over after hearing the news. "From today on, Miss Jiu can do whatever she wants in the mansion. As long as she doesn't set the house on fire and doesn't burn the ancestral tablets as firewood, then... let her do whatever she wants."
The butler opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but seeing his master's expression of despair and hopelessness, he swallowed his words silently. He bowed in response, but inwardly he groaned: "Master, have you completely given up on treatment?" I'm afraid the future of this Imperial Master's Mansion will be a restless one.
For Ajiu, Chu Xuanyi's "delegation of power" is like a fish returning to the sea and a bird flying back to the blue sky.
Holding the candied fruits and bracelets awarded by the empress dowager, she "inspected" the mansion. She ran to the kitchen and instructed the cook, Aunt Wang, that today's vegetables should be fried with "love" to make them more flavorful; then she strolled to the stable and discussed with the servant in charge of feeding the horses which horse had a rounder butt so that it would run more vigorously; she even tried to teach the old woman in charge of sweeping the floor that she should silently recite "Dust to dust, earth to earth, all worries are swept away" when sweeping the floor, so that she could sweep more thoroughly and feel better.
The servants at the Imperial Preceptor's residence were initially amused by the "little fortune teller's" comments, but seeing her seriousness and lack of malice, and her popularity with the Empress Dowager, the Imperial Preceptor tacitly approved of her antics and gradually let her go. For a time, the Imperial Preceptor's residence was filled with a certain... well... "chaos" and "laughter" that hadn't been there before.
On the other side, the Regent's Palace.
Ever since Xiao Yu heard Ah Jiu's rant about his "romantic luck" in front of the Empress Dowager, he'd ordered that all news related to the little girl from the Imperial Master's residence be completely cut off. He needed peace and quiet, and he needed to completely clear his mind of those ridiculous thoughts like "little pink flowers," "self-entanglements," and "pie in the sky."
That afternoon, Xiao Yu had a rare moment of leisure, so he read in the pavilion in the palace's back garden. The gentle breeze and the fragrance of flowers made him quite pleasant.
He had just turned a page of the book and was about to take a sip of the freshly brewed Rain-Predawn Longjing tea when suddenly, there was a light "click" sound above his head and an unidentified object fell down, landing right on the page of the book spread out in front of him.
Xiao Yu frowned and looked carefully.
It was a piece of... half-eaten osmanthus cake.
The pastry was still a little warm, and there were even a few small, clear... bird claw marks left on it.
Xiao Yu: “…”
He slowly raised his head and saw a fat sparrow standing on the beam at the top of the pavilion. It tilted its head and looked at him innocently with its small black bean eyes. It was holding another half piece of osmanthus cake in its mouth, as if showing off its "trophy".
Changfeng and several guards heard the noise and rushed over. When they saw the "horrible" osmanthus cake on the page and their master's face as black as the bottom of a pot, they dared not breathe.
"Master..." Changfeng spoke cautiously, preparing to step forward to clean up the mess.
Xiao Yu raised his hand to stop him.
His eyes were fixed on the piece of osmanthus cake that had been gnawed by the bird. In his mind, he could not help but think of Ah Jiu's innocent little face and the words she said seriously -
"Maybe we have to wait... wait for pie to fall from the sky, then it will come out!"
Osmanthus cake...is it considered a kind of "cake"?
Falling from the sky...isn't this what "falling from the sky" means? !
An absurd thought exploded in his mind like thunder: Could it be that...what that clueless little girl said was true?!
No! Impossible! This is definitely a coincidence! Xiao Yu roared inwardly. How could his future marriage, as the regent, be connected to a bird and a gnawed piece of osmanthus cake?!
He took a deep breath and tried to suppress the turmoil and inexplicable irritability in his heart.
"Clean up this place." He ordered coldly, stood up and left, not even bothering to look at the "contaminated" military book.
Changfeng and the others quickly responded and swiftly cleaned up the scene. However, they all realized that their master's low pressure today was more... violent than ever before.
Xiao Yu quickly walked back to the study, closed the door, and stood alone in front of the window.
He looked at the clear sky outside the window, but his heart was filled with gloom.
"A piece of cake..." He murmured softly, with a hint of hesitation in his tone that he himself hadn't noticed.
He had always thought that Ah Jiu's words were just childish nonsense, a trick taught by Xuanxu Zhenren to fool people. But now...
He suddenly felt that he seemed to need to...re-examine the little fortune teller named Ajiu and her absurd-sounding "prophecies".
What if...what if she really does have some...evil secrets?
As soon as this thought came into his mind, it grew wildly like a vine in his heart, making him feel uneasy.
He even had an urge to grab that little girl and make her explain exactly what kind of flower that "silly little pink flower" was! When would it bear fruit? And... besides "pie in the sky," what other bizarre conditions would be needed for it to "bloom"?
Of course, reason told him that he couldn't do that. How could he, the regent, be led astray by the jokes of a little girl?
But the curiosity and a hint of inexplicable...uneasiness in my heart could not be shaken off.
