Jian Yang: "..."
When did she get an assistant? Why doesn't even she know?
The two looked at each other in silence.
Seeing Jian Yang standing at the door staring at a man for a long time without leaving, the steward of the prince's residence stepped forward with displeasure and urged, "Miss, there are priorities. You can see your lover at any time, but our prince is waiting for you to go and treat his illness!"
Upon hearing this, the emperor's originally cold eyes suddenly softened with a hint of a smile.
Jian Yang immediately denied it awkwardly, saying, "He's not my lover, he's my assistant!"
The smile in the emperor's eyes vanished again.
The butler immediately smiled and apologized, "Please don't be offended, young lady. I'm old and my eyesight is failing. I didn't mean to offend you."
Jian Yang said expressionlessly, "It's nothing, I don't blame you, let's go quickly."
After saying this, Jian Yang got into the prince's carriage, and the emperor naturally followed suit.
The two remained silent, looking at each other.
The cramped space amplified the awkwardness many times over. Jian Yang felt like she couldn't find a suitable place to put her hands and feet, so she could only look out the car window.
She had thought that the emperor's angry departure last time was the last time they would meet, and she was heartbroken for a long time because of it.
But to her utter surprise, only a few days later, the emperor returned.
It's unclear what his purpose is this time.
The steward from the Second Prince's residence was outside the carriage, so she couldn't ask him why.
Although she did not look at the emperor, she knew that he was looking at her.
Even without turning around, she could feel his tangible gaze upon her, as if weighed down by a thousand pounds, making it hard for her to breathe.
In the end, Jian Yang was defeated.
She turned her head, intending to ask the dog emperor what he meant, but inadvertently caught a glimpse of the gauze wrapped around his palm.
His hand had been hidden in his sleeve, so she hadn't noticed, but now that she saw the gauze still bleeding, her heart skipped a beat.
Why was he injured? Where are his bodyguards? Who hurt him?
A series of questions popped into Jian Yang's mind.
When the emperor saw that Jian Yang was staring at his hands, he immediately withdrew them back into his sleeves.
"You're injured," Jian Yang said in a low voice.
The emperor gave a faint "hmm".
"Still bleeding."
The emperor hummed in agreement again.
"Let me re-bandage you," Jian Yang said as she opened her first-aid kit.
The emperor, his face expressionless, said, "No need."
Jian Yang ignored him and grabbed the other hand to start unwrapping the blood-stained gauze.
If a bandaged wound starts bleeding again, it means the wound has torn open and must be treated promptly, otherwise infection could lead to serious problems.
After the bandages were removed, a long and deep wound was seen on the emperor's palm, which appeared to have been caused by a sword.
Jian Yang examined it carefully and saw that it only injured the skin and flesh without damaging the bones and muscles, so she breathed a long sigh of relief.
Fortunately, if his bones and tendons had been injured, his hand would most likely be ruined.
The emperor lowered his eyes to observe Jian Yang's cautious demeanor. His gaze flickered, and then, as if he had just thought of something, his face darkened. He said, "Why do you have to put on such an act?"
Jian Yang was applying medicine to him when she heard this, and she paused for a moment before lowering her voice to ask, "What gesture did I make?"
Why does this person have such an arrogant tone of voice?!
The emperor said coldly, "You clearly said last time that we are not on the same path, so why are you pretending to care about me now?"
If they weren't in a carriage, or if there weren't eavesdroppers, Jian Yang would have loved to punch him twice.
During the days this person has been missing, he probably spent his time trying to squeeze his own head through the palace gates.
She made me laugh in exasperation.
"I am a doctor, so it is natural for me to treat people when I see them sick or injured. Even if it were just a cat or a dog, I would treat it carefully."
The emperor's face immediately darkened.
This woman actually compared him to a cat or dog; she was incredibly audacious.
The butler, who was rushing to catch the carriage, heard the commotion inside and couldn't help but laugh, "Young people are so hot-tempered. Why bother? Don't you understand the saying 'quarrels at the head of the bed are reconciled at the foot of the bed'?"
He knew it! Those two were definitely a couple; he'd figured it out a long time ago!
Upon hearing this, Jian Yang and the Emperor remained silent.
Upon arriving at the Second Prince's residence, the Emperor originally intended to go in with her, but the guards at the gate stopped him.
"His Highness has decreed that no one other than the physician is allowed to enter."
In the past, Jian Yang would have definitely fooled the guard and eventually led the emperor inside.
However, thinking of the emperor's strange and sarcastic manner just now, Jian Yang decided to leave him alone outside to reflect on his mistakes.
So she followed the steward into the mansion without looking back, leaving the emperor standing alone in the cold wind, bewildered.
At this moment, the Second Prince was lying in bed pretending to be sick. As soon as he saw Jian Yang enter, he immediately began to groan in pain.
Jian Yang: "..."
Could it get any more fake?
Even without taking his pulse, she could tell that this person was 100% faking illness, and she had no idea what his purpose was in inviting her here.
The final diagnosis confirmed her suspicions: the person was faking it.
But Jian Yang didn't intend to expose him; instead, she seriously prescribed him several doses of medicine.
Zhou Jing'an took the prescription, a hint of contempt in his eyes.
"I had heard that a miracle doctor had come to Prime Minister Jian's residence. I thought he had some extraordinary skills, but it turns out he couldn't even tell that I was faking illness."
Although Jian Yang was speechless, she still pretended to be panicked and said, "Your Highness misunderstands. I am just a maid serving General Jian Hong, not some kind of divine doctor."
Zhou Jing'an sneered, "The General of Zhenbei has never had any maids by his side. Next time you make up an identity, make it sound more plausible."
Jian Yang's heart skipped a beat.
I have a feeling that this person came with ill intentions today.
Could it be that he already knows her identity?
But she showed no panic, only surprise, and said, "Your Highness, why do you say that? This servant has no reason or motive to deceive Your Highness. The reason I came here today was on Your Highness's orders. Why would Your Highness treat a maid like this?"
Zhou Jing'an raised an eyebrow and revealed a wicked smile.
"Your Majesty, there's no need to pretend anymore. I know it's you."
Jian Yang's legs went weak, and she said in horror, "Your Highness, you are making me feel terrible. How could someone as lowly as me be mistaken for the Empress?"
"Really?" Zhou Jing'an was still not giving up. "Then do you dare let my people examine your face?"
There's no way Jian Yang would agree to that!
However, she has not yet figured out a way to deal with it.
Just then, a servant rushed in.
"Your Highness, Eunuch Zhang, who serves the Emperor, has arrived."
Zhou Jing'an then shifted his gaze from Jian Yang, his eyes full of doubt, and asked, "What is he doing here?"
The servant replied, "I don't know, but I heard that there is something important I need to discuss with you."
Jian Yang almost wanted to burst into song; Eunuch Zhang's arrival was perfectly timed, a true lifesaver for her.
So she seized the opportunity and said, "This servant will take her leave now."
