Chapter 241 Liu'er's Identity

Just a few hours ago, Jian Yang stared blankly at the tonics that Liu'er had brought.

She smelled it carefully, then took a small sip. This tonic was clearly meant to help women conceive.

This is in line with the Empress Dowager's personality. Why did Liu'er emphasize that she should not think wildly?

"This palace maid is probably suspicious," Jian Yang thought to herself.

When Zhou Jingzhi came to see her in the evening, she deliberately acted as if she was furious and questioned him.

Jian Yang felt increasingly uneasy as she listened. It seemed that Zhou Jingzhi had explicitly forbidden her from revealing this matter to her, and even the Empress Dowager was unaware of it, let alone instructing Liu'er to tell her those words.

After driving Zhou Jingzhi away, she came up with a plan and deliberately started packing her bags while loudly hinting to Xiqiu.

Xiqiu understood her intention and went to invite the emperor over.

Upon seeing Zhou Jingzhi appear outside the palace, Jian Yang then picked up her bundle and made a move to leave.

"Stop me." Jian Yang whispered as she passed Zhou Jingzhi.

The emperor was already very worried when he heard that she was going to the border alone. When he saw Jian Yang wink at him, he immediately understood.

The two deliberately made a lot of noise, and then they started fighting.

Taking the opportunity, Jian Yang whispered in Zhou Jingzhi's ear, "There's something wrong with Liu'er. Send someone to follow me later."

Zhou Jingzhi nodded slightly, feigning anger as he locked Jian Yang in Weiyang Palace before leaving.

He was reluctant to leave, so he went to a side hall to change his clothes and summoned his guards.

"Stay around Weiyang Palace. If you see anyone suspicious going in, don't stop them," Zhou Jingzhi instructed.

After waiting for a while, they saw Liu'er sneaking in furtively.

Zhou Jingzhi held his breath and waited quietly.

Soon, Liu'er came out with a person dressed as a palace maid. The palace maid initially kept her head down, but after leaving the palace gate, she looked around as if she was looking for someone.

The palace maid was Jian Yang. She was searching anxiously when she saw someone wink at her in the darkness, which put her at ease.

It seems Zhou Jingzhi is acting quickly, Jian Yang thought to herself.

Zhou Jingzhi and his guards followed them, and as they walked further and further into the remote area, his heart sank.

Sure enough, the two stopped in a small alley, where a group of men in black suddenly appeared and surrounded Jian Yang.

One of the men in black swung his sword, ready to slash at Jian Yang.

Zhou Jingzhi's heart nearly stopped as he watched this scene unfold. He hurriedly led his guards over and stood in front of Jian Yang.

Looking at everything before her, Liu'er thought to herself, "Oh no, we've fallen into a trap."

For a moment, the men in black and the guards were locked in a stalemate, neither making the first move.

"When did you realize it?" Liu'er squinted at Jian Yang.

She believed she hadn't given anything away, but she was very suspicious.

Jian Yang looked at the palace maid in front of her and sneered, "I started to suspect you from the words you said when you brought me the tonic."

"Have you been acting since then?" Liu'er asked.

Jian Yang didn't say anything, which seemed to be her tacit agreement.

Liu'er was silent for a moment, then ordered, "Quickly, retreat! Get out of here!"

Knowing that her plan had been exposed and that she absolutely could not fall into the emperor's hands, she hurriedly tried to escape.

Seeing this, Zhou Jingzhi couldn't help but sneer inwardly. For Jian Yang's safety, he had brought only the elite troops with him this time. How could these men in black possibly escape?

"Take them all down for me!" Zhou Jingzhi said coldly.

The guards responded and engaged the group of men in black in a fierce battle.

Jian Yang stood beside Zhou Jingzhi, her eyes fixed on Liu'er. The more she looked at her, the more familiar she felt with the person in front of her.

Liu'er tried to escape in the chaos, but was pinned to the ground and unable to move the next second.

Her gaze fell on Jian Yang, filled with resentment.

Jian Yang was a little confused. Even if it was Zhou Jing'an's people, they wouldn't look at her like that.

In a short while, the group of men in black were all captured. Liu'er looked at the pile of men lying on the ground and her face turned dejected.

"Take all the living ones back, and lock this woman up in a separate place." After saying that, Zhou Jingzhi took Jian Yang back to the palace.

The man remained silent the entire way, and Jian Yang could clearly feel the icy aura emanating from him.

"Hehe, I didn't mean to kick you today, you should have realized that, right?" Jian Yang said with a smile.

Zhou Jingzhi didn't speak. Actually, he wasn't angry about these things, but rather because today's events were far too dangerous.

He couldn't even imagine what the situation would be like if he hadn't brought so many elite troops with him.

Jian Yang scratched his head and said, "This matter was indeed a bit rushed. But in urgent situations, one must act expediently. I promise there won't be a next time."

Looking at the woman's sincere face, Zhou Jingzhi sighed.

There's just no way to deal with her.

The next day, Jian Yang went to the prison early in the morning. Liu'er was sitting in the corner, her eyes half-closed, seemingly still asleep.

Jian Yang ordered the guards to open the door.

Hearing the sound, Liu'er opened her eyes. Her hands and feet were chained together, and they rattled as she moved.

"What are you doing here?" Liu'er snorted coldly, then turned her head away.

“Tell me, what is your purpose in doing this?” Jian Yang asked.

Liu'er didn't answer, nor did she even look at Jian Yang. In the dim light of the cell, Jian Yang suddenly noticed something like a scar behind her ear.

She walked closer and took a look. She recognized it all too well. Wasn't this the human skin mask?

Taking advantage of Liu'er's inattention, Jian Yang reached out and ripped the mask off.

"Jade Consort? Is that you?" Jian Yang exclaimed in surprise.

The woman before him was stunningly beautiful, her phoenix eyes glaring at Jian Yang. Gone was the timid and cowering Liu'er. Wasn't she the Jade Consort who had been punished to go to the imperial mausoleum?

No wonder she looked familiar; I never imagined she was the disguised Consort Yu.

"Didn't you die at the hands of bandits? How did you manage to sneak into the palace?" Jian Yang's face darkened.

Consort Yu laughed out loud, reverting to her arrogant and domineering demeanor.

“You’re the one who’s dead, Jian Yang. Don’t even think about getting any information from me,” she said, raising her eyebrows.

At this moment, Zhou Jingzhi, having finished his morning court session, also rushed over.

Upon recognizing the person as Consort Yu, Zhou Jingzhi's expression grew even colder.

"It was you? This must have been the work of my dear brother, the Emperor."

Consort Yu glared at Zhou Jingzhi and said, "So what if it was me? This was all my doing. What does it have to do with His Highness Prince Chen?"

"Is that so? You're just a criminal, where would you get the manpower?" Zhou Jingzhi looked at Yu Fei with a cold smile.

Upon hearing this, Jian Yang looked on with a mocking expression. This Consort Yu was truly incredibly stupid; she didn't even know how to lie properly.

"What business is it of yours where I get my manpower?" Consort Yu said through gritted teeth.
