Just as Yu Fei was about to point out what was unreasonable, Jian Yang interrupted her.

"I'm afraid the palace can't afford to keep up with the expenses of these furnishings in Consort Yu's palace."

Consort Yu said smugly, "These are just some small subsidies from my grandfather, who was worried that I wouldn't be used to living in the palace. They're nothing special."

Jian Yang picked up her teacup and took a sip of tea.

"Right now, everyone in the palace is worried about the drought in the north, and the Emperor has lost his appetite. If word gets out that Consort Yu is using such extravagant items, what will the people think?"

She set aside her airs and affectionately took Consort Yu's hand: "If you, my sister, could donate it all now, His Majesty would surely be delighted."
