The next day, Jian Yang set off for the Prime Minister's residence early in the morning.
The people in the Prime Minister's residence received the news early in the morning that the Empress was returning to visit her family.
Apart from the wife who was "bedridden" and Prime Minister Jian who was attending court, everyone else was waiting at the door to welcome her arrival.
Although she was not favored in the Prime Minister's residence in her early years, now that she is the Empress, no one dares to neglect her.
Of course, except for Jane.
Although Jian Fei had to go to the door to greet her out of courtesy, she didn't smile once after Jian Yang appeared.
She even rolls her eyes from time to time!
They're incredibly arrogant.
Jian Yang had actually noticed her younger sister's little tricks a long time ago.
But she couldn't be bothered to argue.
Otherwise, it would make her, the empress, seem petty and narrow-minded.
But Jian Fei, for some inexplicable reason, actually went and provoked her!
"Wow, what a big ego."
As Jian Yang stepped into the Prime Minister's residence, she heard her sarcastic tone.
The servants from the Prime Minister's residence who were accompanying the group were all terrified.
"Is my sister talking about me?" Jian Yang asked with a nonchalant smile.
Jian Fei didn't mince words, "That's right. The letter was sent to the palace the day before yesterday. I thought my sister would come back to visit our mother yesterday, but she waited all day for nothing. She really has quite the airs."
Jian Yang remained noncommittal, but simply shrugged and said, "Does my sister know my identity?"
Upon hearing this, Jian Fei retorted sarcastically, as if she had heard an incredible joke, "Everyone in the manor knows you are the Empress, there's no need to flaunt it anymore, is there?"
Jian Yang immediately raised her hand and patted her chest as if she were in great shock.
"Oh dear, you startled me! So you know I'm the Empress, little sister. I thought you were just forgetful."
Jian Fei frowned: "What do you mean by this?"
Jian Yang suddenly frowned and said in a firm voice, "As the Empress, I symbolize the face of the royal family. I strictly follow the etiquette and regulations required by the royal family. But in your eyes, I am just showing off and putting on airs? It seems that my sister is very dissatisfied with the royal family!"
When such a huge hat was placed on her, Jian Fei was so frightened that her face turned pale, and she immediately knelt down without thinking!
"This humble woman would never dare to disrespect the imperial majesty, and I beg Your Majesty the Empress to forgive me."
After watching her kowtow several times thoroughly, Jian Yang slowly lifted her eyelids. "Alright, we're all sisters, so I won't make things difficult for you. Get up."
After saying that, he walked towards the main hall.
With the help of her maid, Jian Fei stood up and glared fiercely at the departing figure.
They dared to be angry but dared not speak out.
The maid said cautiously, "Second Miss, your forehead is all scraped. Let me help you back to rest."
Upon hearing that her face was disfigured, Jian Fei lost all interest in anything else and quickly ran back to her room to look in the mirror.
She breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that it was just a slight scratch and wouldn't leave a scar.
"Has Father returned?" Jian Fei asked.
The maid nodded: "I just heard from Xiao Wu that Master will be leaving court early today. Judging by the time, it should be time."
"Okay, let's go find Father!"
She can't handle Jian Yang, but she refuses to believe that her father can't handle her!
Sure enough, a moment later, Jian Yang saw her adoptive father, with a dark face, walk into the main hall accompanied by Jian Fei.
Before she could even speak, Prime Minister Jian launched into a tirade!
“As the eldest sister, you not only fail to protect your younger sister, but you also punish her in public. Where does that leave your father’s dignity?”
Jian Yang: "..."
"Look at the scar on your sister's forehead. I had hoped that you two sisters could support each other after I passed away, but now it seems that you are being merciful by not killing your sister!"
Jian Yang: "..."
"The nation values filial piety, but do you even know what filial piety and brotherly love mean? You've forgotten your roots just because you became empress. I, Jian Xiude, am ashamed to have given birth to a daughter like you!"
Jian Yang: "That's enough!"
She slammed her hand on the table with great force.
She didn't want to argue, but this old bastard came up and started lecturing her!
It could drive her crazy.
Very well, since you've angered her, don't blame her...
That's utter nonsense!
"Father, do you think I was punishing my sister? I was protecting your career, and more importantly, protecting our Jian family!"
Prime Minister Jian and Jian Fei were both taken aback.
It's clearly a fight between women, how did it escalate to such a high level?
Jian Yang sighed and said earnestly, "Father, what my sister did in front of everyone just now seemed to be an insult to me as the Empress, but in reality, it was a contempt for the royal authority. If this matter is reported back to the palace, what do you think the Emperor will think?"
“I didn’t!” Jane protested.
Prime Minister Jian looked at her in disbelief.
"What did you just say to your sister?!"
Jianfei had no choice but to recount the events that had just transpired.
After hearing this, Prime Minister Jian frowned deeply and rebuked, "Foolish!"
Admittedly, his second daughter's words were not as serious as Jian Yang had made them out to be, but rumors are as fierce as tigers, and he knew all too well the dangers of officialdom.
Often, it is just a careless remark that can cause an official to fall from grace and never recover.
If Jian Fei's words are used by someone with ulterior motives, there will surely be trouble later!
Jian Fei, who was being scolded, was stunned. She never expected that her father, who had always doted on her, would turn out like this.
She stomped her foot in anger and ran away!
Prime Minister Jian shook his head helplessly.
Upon seeing this, Jian Yang immediately felt much better.
“Father, so I must punish my sister in public! Only by doing so can others realize that it may have been my sister’s unintentional remark, and not the result of your teachings.”
