Chapter 441 Ascension, Rainy Season
What happened to Shuji? What happened to the surface?
The people stationed on the orbital platform looked at the mother planet beneath their feet in horror. They saw that it had undergone earth-shaking changes in the past period of time. They saw that a strange pale substance covered the surface of the planet like a nightmare overflowing, until the heavy rain clouds near the equator could not hide the horrific distortion of the entire planet - this distortion had occurred hundreds of years ago, but it had only come into their sight now.
The cognitive barrier shrouded in silence is collapsing. This powerful cognitive interference once extended from the surface of the planet to space, and even pulled the garrison personnel in high orbit into a dream of "everything is normal". But now, the dream is over.
But this is not because the "stellar body" has stopped its activities - but because the "angel" parasitic inside the planet is ready to ascend.
The ascending body is severing the connection with the metamorphosis nest. As the huge nervous systems buried deep underground and the crystal branch structures spread all over the world are disconnected one by one, the cognitive interference field that has been running in silence for hundreds of years naturally shuts down as well.
The Star-Deriving Body has decided to abandon this nest in advance - the many abnormal situations occurring in the nest made Him feel extremely dangerous.
Mo Ran looked palely at the Lingxi mirror brought by his subordinates, and at the image projected in the mirror.
That was the scene of Shuji observed from space, which had just been sent by the orbital platform.
A strange pale substance was wriggling and undulating on the surface of the planet. From the polar regions to the equator, all the surface structures were changing. A terrifying "face" that covered almost one-third of the planet's surface had taken shape. It looked like some kind of complex nest structure, but it also looked like a face fused together from humans and insects. And at the center of this face was... that "mountain".
Mo Ran raised her head and looked towards the end of the plain with a feeling of suffocation. She saw that the geological structure rising from the distance had surpassed the highest mountain near Mo City. Something seemed to be slowly "squeezing" out of the earth's crust in the mountain made entirely of crystal material, and hot magma was overflowing from around the crystalline cliffs. As this process continued, the "tentacles" that had grown from the ground before seemed to have entered some kind of terrible state of out of control.
The army outside the city fell into chaos. The monks led by Yunshan Jun were fleeing from the clouds. Some seemed to be trying to restore order, while others rushed towards the living jungle as if committing suicide.
But at this moment Mo Ran had no time to care about what was happening outside the city.
Under her feet, the planet where she was born and raised was gradually coming alive.
My hometown has become a living planet full of murderous intent, and the city... seems to have become an unwelcome bruise on the body of this terrifying giant creature.
The whole city was shaking, and the underground protective structure of Mo City was in danger.
Amid a roar that almost shattered his heart and liver, Mo Ran saw an ominous flash of light in the rain in the distance, followed by a huge structure falling from the clouds. Continuous explosions and huge collapsed debris hit the crumbling city defense formation.
"Refining Tower No. 6 collapsed...something came out from underground!"
Someone shouted, and then everyone saw that from the place where the refining tower collapsed, a huge crystal tentacle pierced out from the ground and crushed the last shield on the edge of Mo City.
Amid the flash of the shield that almost covered half of the city, the tentacle shattered, and the crystal debris fell from the sky, but before it hit the ground, it turned into countless crystalline creatures, rushing towards the Mo City Guards who had begun to waver on the ground like a swarm of insects.
“Don’t retreat!” Mo Ran shouted loudly, and then he jumped down from the No. 4 refining tower without hesitation. In the wind and rain, he rushed directly to the defense line with his personal guards, “Block the gap!”
They are everywhere.
As far as the eye can see, there are swarms of crystallized insects transformed from the remains of tentacles in all directions. The ground has countless cracks, and small tentacles shining with a strange luster emerge from the cracks. There are also black-clothed figures that come from nowhere like ghosts, passing through the wind and rain. They wear withered and twisted black masks, and their bodies are like humans. After being killed, there is no blood at all, and there are only pale gray-black crystals in the wounds.
The city guards did not retreat after all. With the city lord personally going to the front line, the soldiers once again gained a foothold and engaged in a fierce battle with the endless monsters.
The strong wind brought with it heavy rain, and the rain curtain was almost like the sea hanging upside down. Mo Ran was gasping for breath violently, and he even felt that the rain was choking his chest, and that even breathing was becoming a burden.
A strange crystalline creature broke through the rain, leaped up silently behind her, and stabbed down fiercely with its blade-like limbs.
Mo Ran sensed the danger coming from behind her, she turned around hurriedly, the flying sword flew out of her hand, and a streak of light slashed towards the monster.
But before that, a scorching ray had hit the shell of the crystalline creature - accompanied by a short and violent flash, the crystalline creature seemed to be "illuminated" by the ray, and then exploded into fragments all over the sky.
Mo Ran turned his head in surprise, only to see a small figure with a dull face standing more than ten meters away.
Soon after, similar figures appeared nearby one after another.
"You are..." Mo Ran spoke subconsciously, but she didn't know who to ask at the scene - those short figures that appeared out of thin air had dull expressions, as if they were just summoned mechanical people. She even suspected that they had no ability to communicate at all.
But before she finished speaking, a voice came from nearby: "Come and help!"
A huge nine-tailed silver fox strode in front of Mo Ran, with a proud little figure standing on the fox's head.
Another ghostly figure passed through the rain curtain, and as she spun lightly like a dance, two black-robed monks were killed on the spot by the blade at her fingertips.
Luna turned her head and looked at the scarred Mo Ran with her ever-smiling face.
“It’s almost over.”
She spoke slowly, enunciating each word.
Mo Ran was stunned for a moment and was about to ask something, but out of the corner of his eye he saw another crystal creature leap high and pounce towards the back of the nine-tailed silver fox.
But before she could warn him, the crystal creature suddenly shook its body, then abruptly withdrew its attack, landed, turned around and rushed towards the man in black who was closest to it.
The man in black was caught off guard. He never expected to be suddenly attacked by the "benefactor and servant", and half of his torso was torn open.
Then several more crystal creatures made chaotic squeaking sounds, and suddenly changed their attack as if they had gone crazy in the rain, pouncing on the "friendly forces" closest to them.
More and more monsters went "crazy", and almost in the blink of an eye, huge chaos spread among those crystalline creatures, as if it was some kind of rapidly spreading "madness", causing the enemies inside and outside the city to fall into frenzy.
The out-of-control crystal "swarm" began to gnaw at the small tentacles that had drilled out of the ground. The affected tentacles began to actively attack the men in black who were still trying to attack the city guards. In the end, even the men in black were in chaos.
Those black-clad "monks" with only human bodies but completely transformed into crystallized creatures inside were struggling in the rain, as if fighting against some invisible enemy. They retreated in panic at first, and then seemed to realize something, and began to scratch their bodies frantically, trying desperately to find a place to cover their heads. They ran towards the nearest building wreckage regardless of anything, even ignoring the swords and knives that were close at hand, but often they lost their last remaining sanity after running a few steps - after a terrible convulsion, they turned around and pounced on the "companion" closest to them like wild beasts.
Mo Ran looked at all this in astonishment, and after a long while, she finally vaguely understood the behavior of those crazy black-clad "people" before they lost control.
They are hiding from the rain.
She raised her hand in a daze, subconsciously wiped the rain off her face, and then raised her head.
The rain was dense, even heavier than normal rain in this season. The extremely dense rain curtain seemed like two rain showers overlapping each other, pouring down in two dimensions at the same time. And in this dense rain curtain... there were traces of blood mixed in.
Mo Ran lowered her head and glanced at the palm of her hand. She saw a substance that looked like blood spreading in the rain. There was also a red line separating from the blood-colored blur. It slowly moved and condensed in her palm like a living thing. It first condensed into a strange triangular emblem, and then gradually condensed into a smiling face...
Mo Ran suddenly let out a scream and shook off the rain in his hands in horror.
This directly resulted in her not being able to see the phone number behind the smiling face and the message "If you have any difficulty finding a hotel, please help."
Then she heard a roar coming from outside the city.
The Mo City guards who stayed on the refining tower looked in the direction where the roar came from, and saw that the mountain that was "raising" at the end of the plain was gradually cracking from the inside.
The mountain collapsed, and pale crystalline matter rushed to the plain like an avalanche. A heat wave surged out of the cracks, followed by a ball of light rising rapidly from deep underground - the large area of crystalline matter surrounding this crystal mountain suddenly became active, but was then washed away by the torrential rain from the sky, and returned to "calm" abruptly.
A chaotic roar came from inside the "mountain". Something that was drilling out from the ground seemed to have sensed the danger. However... the ascension had already begun ahead of time and the process could no longer be reversed.
A huge mass of irregular crystalline material, even larger than the entire Mo City, rose from the collapsed mountain. It squeezed out of the earth's crust and flew into the sky, rising all the way in the storm. Large pieces of crystalline material continued to peel off from its surface, and a dim glow flowed between the torn fragments.
The ascending body is exposed from its "fetal membrane".
Exposed to the desolate and heavy rain.
