Chapter 513: The Puppetry

Chapter 513: The Puppetry

Early the next morning, Yu Sheng did nothing else but go to the valley.

All over the hills, Irene was running around in the valley.

Well, this is a bit of an exaggeration. After all, the valley is now huge and contains a large number of spatial subsets generated by the "fairy tale" alien realm. Even if there are four groups of mass-produced dolls, there are actually not many of them after they are scattered everywhere. But it should be said that in the places where mass-produced dolls are most densely populated - such as the teleportation hub and the fairy tale town area, there are really Irene everywhere.

Some of them were being chased around the town by dollheads, some were helping to clean the streets, some were helping to look after facilities like generators and water pumps, and there were even a large number of dolls without any tasks at the moment wandering around everywhere, on rooftops, treetops, and in the wilderness. Yu Sheng also saw several who got lost and got stuck in an endless loop, banging their heads against the wall near the castle, and after being knocked unconscious, they were carried back to restart by other mass-produced dolls passing by...

Yu Sheng sat on the steps in front of the castle with Little Red Riding Hood, watching a line of mass-produced Irenes, each carrying a small shovel, walk through the open space not far away. He had no idea where they were going. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a small puppet helping to lay tiles on the roof slip, fall off the roof, and get caught in the treetop. Seconds later, other puppets came running over with bamboo poles and started poking their trapped companions down from the tree...

"These puppets running around have become part of the town's scenery, and everyone has adapted to them quite well," Little Red Riding Hood said with a smile. "Although they are very small, they can still help a lot. Simple things can be understood after just one explanation, and complex tasks can be mastered after a few demonstrations - without Irene having to control them herself."

Yu Sheng heaved a sigh of relief after hearing this: "That's not bad. I was worried at first that the sudden increase in the number of these dolls would cause trouble for you."

"That's not the case—these mass-produced dolls are actually much less worrying than their 'real bodies,'" Little Red Riding Hood waved her hand. "It's just that due to their small size and simple minds, they occasionally get stuck in strange places, like falling into a pit or getting caught in a tree. But if they really get trapped, they'll scream for help, and the mass-produced dolls will also provide simple mutual assistance, so there's no need to worry too much."

She paused, then added, "Uncle Yun also likes them very much. He's going to build an alchemy room in the east of town soon, and he's invited a lot of puppets to help. He said that these mass-produced Irenes are very spiritual and have innate spiritual bones, which are far beyond the reach of ordinary mechanical puppets. With time, they may even awaken their spiritual roots. Anyway, I don't quite understand it, but he seems to be trying to teach these puppets how to build their foundation..."

Yu Sheng was stunned when he heard this, and the scene of the immortal-looking Yun Qingzi preaching in front of a group of three-point puppets emerged in his mind. Then, because the scene was too humorous, he could not imagine it anymore. When he came to his senses, he saw a passing mass-produced Irene walking towards him leisurely - the little guy stopped a few steps away, staring at him and Little Red Riding Hood with his dead fish eyes without highlights, and stood there motionless.

Mass-produced dolls would often approach like this, mostly simply because they were curious about the "large human-shaped objects" that appeared within their field of vision. So Yu Sheng didn't pay much attention to it, just muttering casually, "...Looks silly."

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw the puppet's eyes turn, and a bright light quickly appeared in its pupils. Then it ran over and said, "You are the idiot! I was curious about what you were doing and came to take a look, but you are here saying bad things about me!"

Yu Sheng was amused when he heard this. He picked up the little thing and placed it beside him, quickly changing the subject: "Are you really okay with this? There are almost ten thousand 'clones' here, right? Can you control them even if it's just to maintain their most basic mobility?"

Irene nodded as a matter of course: "Yes."

Yu Sheng stroked his chin thoughtfully: "...This seems to be different from what I thought at first."

"That's different from what I initially thought," Irene, who had temporarily logged in as a mass-produced body, also looked thoughtful, swaying back and forth. "At first, I always thought that with so many bodies to control, my brain wouldn't be able to handle it. I was also worried that so many unplanned 'clones' would hinder my thinking, like a C-shaped buckle... But I don't know why, since the number of these mass-produced bodies exceeded three regiments, I feel the opposite..."

She paused, tilting her head back to organize her words. "Do you feel a lot more relaxed? Or perhaps a little more enlightened?"

Yu Sheng looked at the little doll in confusion: "Huh?"

"Haven't you noticed?" Irene puffed out her chest confidently. "Haven't you noticed that I've been so smart and quick-witted lately?"

"I didn't notice," Yu Sheng said without hesitation, "If I have to say anything, it's that you've been chattering more than usual lately... Hey, let go! Let go! Open your mouth!!"

Irene bit Yu Sheng's arm, her eyes wide open: "Yu Heng Ni Ga Ye Ge (Yu Sheng, your uncle)!"

Yu Sheng struggled to remove the doll from his arm, then held it by the scruff of the neck and placed it at a safe distance. He ignored her movements and observed her carefully for a long time before finally putting her down. "Honestly, do you really feel more 'relaxed' after mass-producing more than a certain number of bodies?"

Irene stood on the ground with her hands on her hips: "Yeah, why would I lie to you?"

Upon hearing this, Yu Sheng frowned tightly.

"Don't try to make any more mass-produced machines during this period—not even one," he suddenly said.

Irene looked at him in surprise: "Why?"

Yu Sheng frowned, unsure how to explain his subtle intuition and caution to the little creature. After learning of the connection between "Irene" and the "Goddess of Omen," he was now extremely sensitive to any changes in the little doll's mind and mental state. However, this little bit of intangible vigilance was truly unfounded. After struggling to organize his words, he could only reluctantly speak: "I'm worried that the unstable part of your mind is taking advantage of this opportunity to activate..."

He paused again, thinking that this statement was too general and that the little puppet might not be able to understand it. But just as he was thinking about how to explain it further, Irene suddenly nodded: "Oh, okay."

Yu Sheng looked surprised: "Do you understand?"

"No!" Irene said confidently.

Yu Sheng: “Ah?”

"But you're smarter than me. Last time we agreed that you'd think through complicated issues for me," Irene continued confidently. "This problem seems very complicated, so you must have thought it through for me. Then I'll just do as you say."

Yu Sheng: “…”

He never expected that this little thing would give up thinking under such logic.

But the next second, looking at the righteous and confident look of the little doll, he couldn't help but laugh.

"Okay, then do as I say."

Irene became happy and sat down next to Yu Sheng again, swinging her legs proudly for a while, then suddenly asked, "What do we do next?"

"I don't have any plans for the day, so I'll just rest and recharge my batteries," Yu Sheng squinted his eyes. "In the evening, I'll call the king, and oh, and my nephew—he should be resting by now. Let's go to the Dark Alley again."

Deep inside the Secret Service, on a secret floor.

The long corridor was empty and silent. The light from the ceiling revealed a strange chill. A tall figure walked slowly in the corridor, and the sound of heels tapping on the ground echoed between the walls on both sides.

Baili Qing raised her head and looked at the connected section in front of her which was marked with various danger levels and authority warning signs.

Except for the warning sign ahead, the entire corridor is pure white.

Dressed in a white dress and with light hair, Baili Qing seemed to blend into the corridor. She gazed calmly ahead, the exit reflected in her faded eyes. After a long moment, she averted her gaze and muttered to herself, "The Archives seems quite peaceful today."

"It was really bustling around here when Ankaela fell," Baili Xue's voice echoed from the side, her eyes floating on the left wall. "...the whole building was bustling."

Baili Qing nodded and continued walking forward. She passed the warning signs of the connecting section, completed the authority authentication in front of an access control gate, and then pushed open the seemingly ordinary door at the end of the corridor.

With a "creak", the sound of the door opening seemed to echo in an extremely vast space, and a space of black and white appeared in Baili Qing's eyes.

It was clearly the first floor of the Secret Service building, but opposite the door was a vast void!

The dark and chaotic space seemed endless, with only countless gray-white boulders of varying sizes floating in front of the gate that stood in the air. On each of these boulders stood countless pale and enormous bookshelves—countless classics and scrolls lay quietly on the shelves. Each shelf was extremely tall and large, and the upper halves of many shelves were shattered, with large and small fragments extending all the way to the end of the darkness.

Beyond the towering bookshelves are fragmented white walls and massive pillars floating in the air after being broken. Gorgeous and intricate relief patterns can be seen on all these broken architectural structures, vaguely revealing a kind of bygone glorious time.

The entire space is like a shattered pure white library, floating in a vanished space and time.

Baili Qing was obviously very familiar with this place. She stepped directly onto a gray-white boulder floating in the air, and then walked along a continuous floating path to the center of the bookshelves.

Countless low and vague whispers came from the nearby bookshelves, as if they were discussing, mixed with greetings.

Then, a hoarse, old voice came from the end of the path:

"Ah, Colorless Descendant—there you go again."
