Chapter 124 Arrested for Cheating!
Inside the warehouse, the man felt a blur before his eyes, followed by a sharp pain in his forehead, and then everything went black. He was thrown forward uncontrollably.
"Clang!"
A dull, loud bang.
He groaned, his forehead slamming heavily against the shelf again, drawing blood immediately.
He turned around, dizzy and disoriented, his eyes filled with disbelief. Just as he was about to burst into curses, he was met with that dark, lumpy iron lump again.
"Bang!"
It hit him squarely on the bridge of his nose.
"Ouch—" This time the man's scream was genuine, his face instantly covered in blood and tears.
At this moment, Jiang Wanqiu was tightly gripping a palm-sized cast iron counterweight and slamming it down on the man again and again without any hesitation!
He was completely stunned and terrified. The woman in front of him was no delicate young lady at all; she was clearly a deadly demon!
"Grandma! I was wrong! I was wrong! Please forgive me!" He covered his face and scrambled backward, his voice trembling with tears. "I didn't do anything! I was just joking with you!"
Jiang Wanqiu looked at him coldly, tossed the heavy iron block in her hand, and narrowed her charming eyes slightly, revealing a ruthless edge.
Seeing that the man was about to attack, he trembled with fear, scrambled to his feet, clutched his bleeding head, and stumbled out of the small wooden door.
As soon as the man ran away, the entire warehouse fell silent, with only Jiang Wanqiu's slightly rapid breathing remaining.
Once the person had disappeared from sight, she finally relaxed, leaned against the shelf, and slowly calmed her wildly beating heart, her palms covered in cold sweat.
After she calmed down, she put the iron block back in its place, found the bottle of turpentine she wanted on a nearby shelf, tightened the cap, and walked out.
In the corridor, Bai Weiwei had just gotten up from the ground, patting the dust off her bottom and cursing under her breath. Before she could even stand up straight, a dark figure rushed out from the small wooden door.
The man looked like he'd seen a ghost, clutching his blood-soaked head and charging forward with his head down.
Bai Weiwei cried out "Ouch!" and, unable to dodge in time, was hit hard again, falling back to the ground with a thud.
This time the fall was even harder; my tailbone almost cracked.
The man didn't even glance at her, and disappeared in a flash.
Bai Weiwei winced in pain, but a thought flashed through her mind like lightning.
First, there was He Xiaoman, disheveled, and then there was this wild man with a bloody head; both of them ran out of the small warehouse that Jiang Wanqiu went into!
These three people are definitely up to something!
As she was thinking, she saw Jiang Wanqiu gracefully walk out of the warehouse.
Seeing the woman about to leave with a bottle of turpentine in her hand, as if nothing had happened,
Bai Weiwei leaped up from the ground in an instant, rushed over in three steps, and grabbed Jiang Wanqiu's wrist.
"Jiang Wanqiu! You're really something! Fighting in a logistics warehouse like this, do you have any respect for the military region's discipline?" Bai Weiwei's voice was loud, as if she wanted everyone to hear her. "Our military region has repeatedly issued orders strictly prohibiting fighting and causing trouble! And you, you're acting like a lawless person, aren't you? I'm going to report this! Someone as disorganized and undisciplined as you shouldn't even be on the list for the military region's performance!"
She gripped Jiang Wanqiu tightly, spitting almost onto her face, feeling incredibly smug.
Good, she's finally caught us red-handed. If she exposes this, all of Jiang Wanqiu's violin playing will be for nothing!
Jiang Wanqiu frowned slightly, a hint of impatience appearing on her fair face. With a gentle twist of her wrist, she broke free from Bai Weiwei's grasp.
"Go ahead and report it." Her voice was cold and indifferent. "Perfect timing, I also have something to report to my superiors."
After saying that, she walked past the stunned Bai Weiwei and went straight away.
When Jiang Wanqiu got home, she noticed that her right little finger was scraped, with tiny beads of blood oozing out, and it stung painfully. She must have accidentally scratched it while swinging that piece of iron.
Jiang Wanqiu thought she should tell Zhao Wenchang about this.
Before she could even find a man, an officer from the military region's discipline department came knocking on her door, politely but seriously asking her to come to his office.
In the office, Bai Weiwei was standing smugly to one side. When she saw Jiang Wanqiu come in, she raised her chin at her provocatively.
Behind the desk sat a square-faced manager with a serious expression.
"Comrade Jiang Wanqiu, we have received a report that you were involved in a fight at the logistics warehouse today, resulting in a head injury to the other party. Is this true?"
Jiang Wanqiu stood ramrod straight, glanced calmly at Bai Weiwei, and then turned to the person in charge: "Reporting to the person in charge, I did not fight. After I caught Comrade He Xiaoman having an affair, that man attempted to molest me. I acted in self-defense to protect myself."
Upon hearing this, the person in charge gasped in disbelief.
Fighting is a disciplinary issue, but infidelity and molestation in military marriages are crimes! They will be recorded in your file, and serious cases can lead to discharge from the military and imprisonment!
Bai Weiwei was also taken aback. Although she had some guesses, she was not sure yet.
If that's the case, Jiang Wanqiu will not only not be punished, but will also be rewarded for her whistleblowing.
She was determined not to let that happen and quickly said, "Don't make things up without evidence! Do you know that spreading rumors and slandering soldiers is a crime!"
“If you don’t believe me, the military region can call He Xiaoman and the other person in for questioning,” Jiang Wanqiu said.
The person in charge slammed his hand on the table, his face turning ashen: "Quiet down, all of you!"
He frowned and looked at Jiang Wanqiu: "Comrade Jiang Wanqiu, Comrade Bai Weiwei is right. Do you know what you're saying? This is no joke!"
“I know.” Jiang Wanqiu met his gaze without flinching. “Everything I said is true.”
The person in charge was silent for a moment, then picked up the phone and dialed: "Get He Xiaoman over here! Also, urge the medical team to finish bandaging Du Wenxiu and get her over here right now!"
Not long after, Du Wenxiu came in, clutching her head, which was wrapped in thick gauze, and her face was deathly pale.
Shortly after, He Xiaoman arrived. She had changed into clean clothes and looked at the people in the room with a blank expression. She asked timidly, "Boss, is there something you need from me?"
The person in charge's gaze swept across the three people's faces one by one, finally landing on Du Wenxiu.
"Du Wenxiu, what happened to the injury on your head?"
Bai Weiwei waited gleefully for Du Wenxiu to identify Jiang Wanqiu.
However, to everyone's astonishment, Du Wenxiu trembled, lowered her head, and whispered, "Reporting to the leader, it was my...it was my own carelessness. Today, while decorating the auditorium, I fell off the ladder while hanging ribbons and hit...hit the corner of a table."
The person in charge frowned and turned to He Xiaoman: "Comrade He Xiaoman, where have you been all day? What have you been doing?"
He Xiaoman twisted the hem of her clothes, looking like a frightened little rabbit, and answered softly, "I...I've been at home all day, embroidering insoles for my man. I haven't gone anywhere."
The person in charge tapped the table and said sternly, "I have received a report from Comrade Jiang Wanqiu that you two have an improper relationship! I would like to ask if this is true!"
Upon hearing this, He Xiaoman's face flushed red, and tears welled up and started falling.
"You...you're spouting nonsense!" She pointed at Jiang Wanqiu, her fingers trembling. Then she looked anxiously at the person in charge. "Boss, don't believe her lies! How could a woman with a man do such a shameless thing! If you don't believe me, come home with me now and see my insoles. I...I still embroidered half of them!"
She spoke through tears, breathless, as if she had suffered a tremendous injustice.
Hearing this, Du Wenxiu glared fiercely at Jiang Wanqiu, gritting her teeth and saying, "Comrade Jiang Wanqiu! You need to provide evidence! Have you thought about how much damage your baseless accusations will do to my reputation?"
Seeing the situation, Bai Weiwei felt she had the upper hand and quickly stepped forward to chime in, "That's right! Jiang Wanqiu, don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're pretty and slander good comrades! In our military compound, the most taboo thing is someone like you who stirs up trouble and spreads rumors!"
Jiang Wanqiu completely ignored the two guilty-looking people and slowly turned to Bai Weiwei: "Comrade Bai Weiwei, I'm a little confused by what you're saying."
"What do you mean?" Bai Weiwei was momentarily speechless when asked the question.
Jiang Wanqiu continued, "Didn't you just come here and confidently complain to the leaders that I hit Comrade Du Wenxiu?"
She paused, then said, "But now, Comrade Du Wenxiu himself has said that he fell from the ladder. Can't you tell that something's not right?"
At this point, Jiang Wanqiu revealed a half-smile on her face: "If we're talking about spreading rumors, shouldn't you be the one who started it?"
Bai Weiwei was stumped by the question. She opened her mouth, but couldn't utter a single word. She was completely dumbfounded.
Jiang Wanqiu looked at the person in charge behind the desk and said calmly, "Sir, you've seen it too. There's definitely someone among us who's lying."
The person in charge had a somber expression, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the table.
He certainly sensed the contradiction in the statement.
If someone could admit to having an affair so easily, that would be truly bizarre.
His gaze swept over He Xiaoman and Du Wenxiu again: "You two, when you were doing things today, who can prove that you weren't together?"
Upon hearing this, He Xiaoman cried even harder, almost collapsing to the ground: "I was just doing some needlework at home by myself, who could have seen me! Leaders, if you suspect me like this, I might as well just kill myself here and prove my innocence with my death!"
As she spoke, she actually pretended to bang her head against the wall.
Du Wenxiu, however, remained defiant and said defiantly, "When I fell off the ladder, Minister Du from the Logistics Department happened to come looking for me. He can testify for me!"
