Chapter 192: Bonus Extra Chapter 3
In 1992, Luo Yuanyuan was seven years old and started first grade.
She was quite looking forward to it. She got up early in the morning, brushed her teeth and washed her face, then sat in the living room with her schoolbag and watched TV in silence.
The daughter had already started sleeping in a separate bed from her parents, and Zhou Weifang was surprised to find her up so early. As she rubbed her face to make breakfast, she exclaimed, "Honey, when did you get up?"
Luo Yuanyuan looked up at him and asked, "Daddy, are we going out?"
This child has truly inherited her mother's excellent genes.
Zhou Weifang, with his good temper, said, "You still have to eat breakfast. There are no snacks at the primary school. If you don't eat, you'll go to school hungry."
Luo Yuanyuan had made ample preparations in every aspect, and opened her schoolbag to show her father: "I brought some snacks."
Zhou Weifang chuckled and said, "You still need to eat breakfast. There's no one at school now."
Luo Yuanyuan pouted and said "Oh!" before running into the room to find her mother.
Luo Yan opened her eyes and pinched her daughter's round face: "Our baby looks like a motivated and good student."
Luo Yuanyuan feels she's already a big girl: "I'm not a baby anymore."
Okay, okay, no, no.
Luo Yan threw off the covers and sat up: "Mom is wrong. Our Yuanyuan is obviously a good student."
Luo Yuanyuan nodded her little head and echoed, "I'm the best behaved."
How should I put this?
Luo Yan could only say, "Mom believes you will do very well."
Luo Yuanyuan also believed in herself and followed behind her mother.
Looking at the little tail that had grown out, Luo Yan brushed her teeth and washed her face, then said, "Mommy needs to go to the toilet."
Luo Yuanyuan then abandoned her mother and went to find her father.
Zhou Weifang was frying eggs when she saw her run in and said, "Don't come any closer, there's oil in here, you'll burn yourself."
Luo Yuanyuan cautiously took two steps back and tugged at the kitchen door: "Daddy, can I sprinkle sugar on the eggs?"
Sprinkling candy? Zhou Weifang said with a straight face, "I've already told your grandparents and uncle that you're not allowed to eat candy anymore because of this tooth."
No, why not?
Luo Yuanyuan squirmed and pouted, saying, "I could have eaten just a little bit."
Zhou Weifang remained unmoved and simply said, "Wash your hands, it's time to eat."
Luo Yuanyuan looked dejected and even tried to "complain" to her mother: "Dad won't let me eat candy anymore."
Luo Yan and her husband were of the same mind: "That's right, you ate too much during the summer vacation."
Luo Yuanyuan tried to argue her point: "My grandparents said it's okay to eat."
Luo Yan: "They said it's okay to eat, but they didn't say you can eat half a box of candy a day."
"Is there half a box?" Luo Yuanyuan couldn't remember, her big, round eyes darting around.
Luo Yan knew her well enough to say, "We've already put away all the candy at home, so don't even think about it."
Luo Yuanyuan slumped over the dining table, her shoulders drooping: "How does Mom know everything?"
Just then, Zhou Weifang brought breakfast to the table and said, "Your father couldn't figure this out either."
Luo Yan glanced at the father and daughter and said, "Don't talk, eat quickly."
This sentence was too difficult for Luo Yuanyuan.
She can't even have a quiet breakfast; she keeps asking, "Will the teacher hit me?" and "Can you bring me an ice pop when school is over?"
Luo Yan has always been very patient, especially when it comes to her daughter's affairs, answering every question carefully.
Zhou Weifang felt that if they continued talking, they would be late, so he couldn't help but interrupt: "Eat quickly, everyone."
Luo Yuanyuan then ate heartily, wiped her mouth, and urged, "Mom and Dad, hurry up!"
When she was in kindergarten, her mother usually took her there and her father picked her up. But today is a different day, so the three of them should be together.
After the couple put on their shoes, they reminded her, "Don't you feel like you've forgotten something?"
Luo Yuanyuan paused for two seconds, then ran inside to get her schoolbag, holding it in her arms like a precious treasure.
Zhou Weifang whispered to his wife, "I swear, what she treasures most are those pastries inside."
Luo Yan teased him, "Can't our girl love learning?"
Zhou Weifang reflected on his actions, saying, "It's still my genes that are holding me back."
Luo Yan took his hand: "There are good genes too, at least she won't be bullied at school."
There's absolutely no need to worry about that, Zhou Weifang patted his chest and said, "We'll be thanking our lucky stars if we don't get our parents called in."
He thanked her all morning, but when he went to pick up his daughter at noon, he noticed her hair was messy and asked, "What happened to you?"
Luo Yuanyuan declared triumphantly, "Let's fight!"
Zhou Weifang wouldn't immediately scold the child; instead, she helped her fix her hair while asking, "Why?"
Luo Yuanyuan was still angry when she brought it up: "He Xin wouldn't let me sit down."
The little boy, He Xin, who was standing nearby, rushed over and protested, "I didn't!"
The two children looked like fighting cocks, which embarrassed their parents.
Mrs. He repeatedly said, "I'm so sorry, Xinxin, who taught you to bully girls!"
He Xin also felt wronged: "She was the one who hit me."
As she spoke, she lifted the hem of her shirt to show everyone.
Luo Yuanyuan wasn't ashamed at all, and even said to him, "You're shameless."
He Xin was furious and shouted, "You stepped on my foot first!"
Luo Yuanyuan retorted, "I didn't!"
The two argued back and forth for a while before their parents finally understood—Luo Yuanyuan had accidentally stepped on He Xin while lining up in the morning, but she didn't realize it. Later, the teacher assigned them to be deskmates, and He Xin was unhappy, refusing to let her sit next to her. Luo Yuanyuan, however, was not one to be easily manipulated; she slammed her hand on the table and instantly rose up, scratching at He Xin with her claws.
The two got into a fight during break time. Probably because their parents had repeatedly warned them, they stopped fighting as soon as the bell rang. However, they continued to fight each other openly and secretly in private.
Zhou Weifang listened and first said to his daughter, "Yuanyuan, now you know what to say if you step on someone?"
Luo Yuanyuan wasn't the type of child who wouldn't admit her mistakes, but the resentment had run deep, so she said rather reluctantly, "I'm sorry."
Mother He also taught her child: "Xinxin, you stepped on it, but you can tell Yuanyuan, is it right not to let others sit on it?"
He Xin was also unconvinced. After all, he was a child raised by reasonable parents. He reluctantly lowered his head and said, "I'm sorry."
The parents breathed a sigh of relief, exchanged a few more pleasantries, and then went home.
When Zhou Weifang led his daughter to his in-laws' house, he saw that everyone was there in the living room, and he knew that his daughter would be very excited.
Sure enough, Luo Yuanyuan spoke with great enthusiasm, making it seem to anyone who didn't know better that she was telling the story of the Three Heroes battling Lü Bu.
Luo Yan smiled helplessly: "First day of school, little Luo Yuanyuan."
Luo Yuanyuan sat quietly between her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Since this is the only child in the family, Liu Yinfeng and Luo Xinmin inevitably took sides and tried to smooth things over, saying, "Let's eat, let's eat."
Luo Hong also made a sarcastic remark: "He's more successful than your mother."
Luo Yan had to teach someone a lesson, so she kicked her brother while he was down: "Teach him something good."
Luo Hong gasped, then retorted, "Isn't this better than when you were in first grade?"
More than twenty years have passed in the blink of an eye. Luo Yan thought about it and chuckled, "Time flies."
The family reminisced about the past together, and felt that time had flown by.
