Chapter 99 (Information)

Chapter 99 (Information)

Luo Hong and Zhou Weifang have been friends since they were little kids; sometimes they can tell what the other is thinking with just a glance.

Zhou Weifang kept laughing like that. Although Luo Hong couldn't guess his intentions, he felt that there was probably something going on, so he simply sent his sister to buy some late-night snacks.

Luo Yan was writing her book when she asked in confusion, "Where should I go?"

Luo Hong: "Your back is slumped from doing your homework. Get up and move around."

His suggestion made Luo Yan feel a little uncomfortable, and she stood up and stretched: "Then what should I buy?"

It was late at night, and Luo Hong didn't dare let her go too far, saying, "Anything around here will do."

Luo Yan agreed and confidently asked her brother for money.

Luo Hong patted her on the shoulder: "I'll give it to you when I get back."

Okay, Luo Yan smoothed her hair as she walked out, then suddenly turned back to get her lunchbox, dangled it in her hand for a bit, and left again.

The two people in the shop watched Luo Yan walk across the street without blinking. Luo Hongcai then asked, "What have you been holding back all night?"

Zhou Weifang: "Didn't you just hear that Yanyan said she'd treat me to dinner?"

Luo Hong poured cold water on the idea: "The premise is that you get first place in the exam."

Zhou Weifang: "I hope I can do something good for you."

He then asked, "Can we discuss something?"

Luo Hong said decisively, "No."

Ignoring his refusal, Zhou Weifang continued, "You're not going to dinner that day, are you?"

Luo Hong pretended not to know: "You're the one who's being invited, not me. What would I do there?"

Zhou Weifang: "How could I not call you when I went?"

Everyone knows the logic, Luo Hong said: "Anyway, if they ask me, I'll definitely go."

Zhou Weifang sighed, "Then I have no other choice."

No, Luo Hong: "You said you had no solution without even trying. I don't think you're being sincere."

His childhood friend was too devoted to his sister, and he was afraid that she would become too attached to him later. If he didn't put in the effort, he would be unhappy.

Zhou Weifang: "Then what should I do? Tie you up so you can't leave the house? That would be fine too."

He certainly wanted to have dinner alone with Luo Yan, but he knew his childhood friend wouldn't agree. There were many more sophisticated ways to "deal with" him, but none of them were suitable.

Luo Hong, on the other hand, looked at him with an air of "If you're so capable, then do it," and stretched out both hands: "Tie it up, you tie it up."

Zhou Weifang gave him the middle finger: "I wanted you to help me test whether Luo Yan would be willing to come out alone. If she is, you have no complaints, right?"

"Do we even need to try?" Luo Hong didn't immediately refuse, still willing to help his childhood friend go through the motions, and said, "Okay, I'll tell you tomorrow."

Zhou Weifang's tone became earnest: "Please be sure to ask around for me."

Luo Hong thought to himself, what difference does it make whether I ask or not? He nodded helplessly.

Zhou Weifang bowed in thanks, and Luo Hong returned the bow; the two looked as if they were bowing to each other.

Luo Yan hesitated before asking, "What are you two doing?"

Both men stood up straight and asked her, "What did you buy?"

Luo Yan: "They only have meat pies, big meat ones."

The pancake was still warm; it steamed as soon as I took a bite.

Luo Yan winced as she was burned, threw the food back into her lunchbox, and shook her hand. Seeing that only she was making a fuss, she said, "Aren't you two burned?"

Luo Hong showed his sister the calluses on his hands: "Did you think everyone had delicate skin like you?"

When he went to the countryside, he worked from sunrise to sunset, doing farm work from morning till night. Zhou Weifang was no exception, but he didn't show her his hands.

Let alone a freshly baked pancake, to exaggerate a bit, they could take chestnuts out of a fire as easily as taking something out of a bag.

But when Luo Yan remembered her brother saying that Zhou Weifang was applying face cream, her gaze involuntarily fell on his hands.

Zhou Weifang noticed that he slightly extended his hand forward and joked, "It's a bit like when I was a kid and the teacher checked the hygiene in the after-school care class."

Luo Yan: "Anyway, neither of you are qualified."

He dares to catch any snake, insect, or rodent, and leaves home clean every morning, but can pour half a pound of ash out of his pocket when he gets home at night.

Zhou Weifang looked at the sky and the ground uncomfortably: "When I was a child, that was all in the past."

He even knew how to spell the word "awkward," but Luo Hong had no such concept, his greasy hands rubbing everywhere.

Luo Yan looked at her brother with disdain, blew on her hands, picked up the cake again, and ate it carefully, touching it with her teeth bit by bit.

Like a rabbit, Luo Hong asked, "Aren't you afraid of getting your precious teeth burned?"

Luo Yan's only useful asset now was her feet. She used them to kick him a couple of times, but for some reason, she lost her balance and swayed to the other side.

Zhou Weifang quickly caught her and asked, "Be careful, are you alright?"

Luo Yanren was alright, but her gaze lingered on the arm he had just touched, and she hesitated to speak.

Zhou Weifang also noticed several greasy fingerprints and realized that he had just finished eating. He was very sorry and said, "I'm so sorry."

Luo Yan wasn't actually angry; she even smiled and said, "It's okay."

When she smiles, her eyes crinkle and her cheeks puff out slightly, making you want to pinch them.

Zhou Weifang held down his restless hand, suddenly unsure of what to do with it, and could only chuckle awkwardly.

That's incredibly stupid.

Luo Hong rarely saw his childhood friend like this, because he had always acted as the leader among his peers since childhood, and even now, everyone would consult him first when they had something to say.

The more this was the case, the more uneasy Luo Hong became.

Even if he tells his sister that his relationship with his childhood friend will not be affected by anything, there is nothing in this world that is certain to remain unchanged.

The more Zhou Weifang likes Luo Yan, the more he can accept being rejected today. But if he has another love interest in the future, she may not be without resentment.

Thinking of this, Luo Hong sighed inwardly, but did not show it on his face.

He hid it well, so others naturally couldn't tell.

Luo Yan didn't notice that after finishing the pancake, she washed her hands and wanted to sit down and do her homework for a while, but she felt that her neck was really sore. She shook her arms and legs in place and spun around like a windmill. After a few spins, she felt dizzy and had to stand up by holding onto the wall.

Luo Hong: "You should be more careful. I have all sorts of random things here. I'm afraid it will get bumped or scratched again."

Luo Yan was still in shock. With her free hand, she tried to grab something in the air, but without looking closely, she grabbed whatever she could reach. It took her three seconds to realize that it was Zhou Weifang's hand.

Her eyes widened, and she pulled her hands back behind her back.

Zhou Weifang simply said, "You get carsick, so you shouldn't do this."

Luo Yan nodded, but lowered her eyes somewhat embarrassed.

The young girl was shy, so Zhou Weifang didn't dare tease her and calmly said, "I'll go back first and come again tomorrow."

Actually, after riding the bike a few steps, he got so excited that he punched the air several times, almost falling off the bike and himself.

The brother and sister, of course, were unaware of this and were still talking in the shop.

Luo Hong was honest and directly told his sister about having dinner alone.

Luo Yan had been trying to figure out when and where to let Zhou Weifang know her thoughts, but now she thought that having dinner was a good opportunity to distance herself from her brother.

She said, "Then let's go together."

Huh? This was unexpected for Luo Hong: "Are you sure? Don't worry about me."

Luo Yan sneered deliberately: "Do you have that much influence? Anyway, don't worry about it. I'm an adult now and I can handle it."

Adults don't keep shouting that they're adults now, so Luo Hong replied perfunctorily, "Yes, yes, you are."

"What kind of tone is that?" Luo Yan glanced at her brother and said seriously, "Just pretend you don't know."

There was also a hint of apology in his words.

Luo Hong pushed her to walk out: "I know, stop worrying."

But he was thinking about how to tell his childhood friend in a way that didn't sound like he was about to die.

Unfortunately, these preparations were largely useless. Zhou Weifang was overjoyed upon hearing the news, and was so dizzy from standing in circles that he had to calm down before asking, "What did you tell her?"

Luo Hong: "I brought up the topic of eating and mentioned that the restaurant was busy, and she immediately chimed in."

Luo Yan has always been very considerate of her brother; this is the kind of thing she would say.

Zhou Weifang, unsuspecting, patted his childhood friend on the shoulder twice and said, "Thanks."

Feeling guilty, Luo Hong quickly said, "It was just a meal, an ordinary meal."

Zhou Weifang: "We ate it together."

After saying that, he slapped his thigh and said, "No, I need to look at the book again."

Luo Hong pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling a headache coming on, and hesitated to speak.

Zhou Weifang noticed and, thinking he was still worried, looked around and picked up a screwdriver: "I'll definitely take her out properly and bring her back safely. Otherwise, you can use this thing to stab me to death."

Luo Hong thought to himself that he didn't need to stab him; he would probably have to "get hurt" by then.

He said, "If I can't even trust you, then there's no one in this world I can trust."

Zhou Weifang jokingly said, "You have a big problem with me saying I like Luo Yan."

Luo Hong: "It's not that I have a big problem with it, it's just..."

He gave his childhood friend a heads-up: "To be honest, you know that Yan Yan's personality is the complete opposite of yours. You've met Zhou Xiuhe, and I don't believe you haven't inquired about him."

Zhou Weifang had indeed inquired and knew that Zhou Xiuhe came from a good family, was handsome, had good grades, and was very popular in class; he was quite a prominent figure.

It's not surprising that Luo Yan likes someone like that.

But if everyone knew that she liked Zhou Weifang, there would probably be countless people glancing at her sideways.

Zhou Weifang understood the difference and said, "I know, but you also know me."

Luo Hong knew everything, yet he still had to watch his childhood friend run into a brick wall, and he couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

He suddenly realized that his sister's and his childhood friend's personalities were somehow like a tug-of-war, and he was the center point—both deciding who would win and unable to control who would take the victory.

Since that's the case, there's no point in saying more.

Luo Hong waved his hand helplessly: "Go ahead and learn, at least what you learn will be yours."

Zhou Weifang said, "If I hadn't looked up, I would have thought you were Luo Yan."

Luo Hong was also jolted awake: "I've been infected by her."

What does "infection" mean? Zhou Weifang: "You should use a better word."

Luo Hong sneered: "You intellectuals think you know so much."

Zhou Weifang, who only had half a bucket more books than him, dared not tarnish the word "cultured person," and easily started arguing with him.

The two were arguing loudly. When Luo Yan came home from school, she rolled up her books into a tube and knocked on the door, imitating the teachers, saying, "Our shop is the noisiest on the whole street, it's outrageous!"

She had the air of someone in control, but Luo Hong hadn't really gone to school much, so he just thought his sister was lecturing him again.

Zhou Weifang smiled and called out to her, "Teacher Luo is here."

Luo Yan's idea to learn how to play was a sudden whim. After saying this, he burst out laughing, which puzzled Luo Hong, who looked back and forth between the two of them.

How to put it? This feeling was very subtle to him, and he couldn't find a suitable description in his limited vocabulary, so he had to put it aside for the time being.
