Chapter 157, first update of 157.
Zhou Weifang drank quite a bit at noon, and even though he was a little dizzy after the meal, he still remembered to help wash the dishes and wipe the table.
Liu Yinfeng couldn't let him do such a job, so she said, "No need, no need, you sit down and rest. Yanyan, get them both some milk."
The couple cleaned it up themselves.
The Luo family's folk remedy is to drink milk to relieve hangovers, although Luo Yan still doesn't understand the scientific reason behind it.
But perhaps it was just psychological, she felt that her brother felt better after drinking milk each time.
Luo Hong wasn't actually that drunk today. He leaned back on the sofa, glanced at his childhood friend, and could still make sarcastic remarks: "Serves you right for showing off."
Zhou Weifang drank quite a bit, his eyes half-closed and silent, almost falling asleep.
Luo Yan stirred the milk powder in the cup, then handed it forward with both hands. Luo Hong took it and gently blew on it, while Zhou Weifang remained motionless.
Luo Yan simply brought it to his lips: "Take a sip, it'll make you feel better."
Zhou Weifang responded to her voice, slightly opening his eyes to call her name, and reaching out with his other hand to take her hand.
Luo Yan poked his forehead: "If you're not going to drink, I'll give it to Huang Laishun."
Huang Laishun was also a gluttonous dog. He had been circling around Luo Yan's feet for a while after smelling the aroma, and jumped three feet high when he heard his name called.
Zhou Weifang looked down and said, "No wonder I felt someone pulling down my pants."
"Where did this person come from?" Luo Yan said with a smile, "Hurry up and drink."
Zhou Weifang now thinks every glass he holds is wine, and he gulps it down. Luckily it's not that hot, or his tongue would definitely get blisters.
Seeing his expression, Luo Yan said, "Why don't you go to my brother's room and sleep for a while?"
Luo Hong also said, "Lie down, I have a big bed now."
Zhou Weifang was about to say no when his partner pulled him away.
Luo Yan knew he was a bit more particular than his brother, so she said, "Just lie down. We'll be changing the sheets and blankets tonight anyway. My mom said we have to sleep on the new ones on the first day in the new house."
Zhou Weifang reluctantly agreed.
He really didn't have the brains to say anything more; the only thing he could remember was lying sideways with his feet still on the ground.
Luo Yan covered him with a blanket, then half-closed the door, watching Huang Laishun wander around his brother with his own bowl in his mouth.
Luo Hong teased the puppy, and only when it was almost getting impatient did he give it half a cup of milk, saying, "It's only because we don't need tickets anymore, otherwise you wouldn't even have enough to drink."
Huang Laishun had no idea what was going on; he only knew he had eaten a delicious meal, and then the next second he vomited all over the place.
Luo Yan called out anxiously, "Mom, Mom, Mom."
The couple thought it was nothing, but when they came out to take a look, they realized, "It doesn't know when it's full; it must have eaten too much."
Liu Yinfeng didn't take it seriously and went back to the kitchen, ordering her husband to crush the used coal briquettes and cover them up.
While sweeping the floor, Luo Xinmin said, "No more food for Lai Shun today."
Luo Yan thought to herself, "How could I dare?" She dampened a towel and wiped the puppy's face, saying, "Did you hear me? I told you not to be greedy again."
Putting aside whether he was tempted or not, Luo Hong glared at his sister and asked, "Did you take my towel?"
Luo Yan looked closely and hid her hands behind her back: "I... I accidentally took the wrong one."
Luo Hong sneered: "This is brand new, you have to compensate me."
"I'll pay you back," Luo Yan said, negotiating with her brother. "Final exams are coming up soon. I should still be in the top ten this semester and get a dollar. I'll give you fifty cents then."
"Wow," Luo Hong exclaimed, "I can actually make money from this."
"Why are you turning around?" Luo Yan smiled at him. "If you want to do a good job, you must first have the right tools. Why don't you buy me a pair of shoes first?"
As expected, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Luo Hong crossed his arms and said, "Wait, what does buying shoes have to do with grades?"
Luo Yan has a twisted logic: "I feel good when I wear new shoes, and when I'm in a good mood, I perform well."
Luo Hong described it as "unreasonable," but he didn't refuse his sister's request. He was just puzzled: "Why do you suddenly want to buy shoes?"
Luo Yan rarely spends money on her clothes and appearance throughout the year, saying, "It's fine if you don't buy shoes, I just want to rip you off a little."
Well, it's better not to ask at all.
Luo Hong ignored her and twisted his neck, saying, "Go get it from your bag yourself."
Luo Yan waved five yuan in front of her brother: "I'm being soft-hearted, aren't I? This is definitely cheaper than the shoes."
Luo Hong's lips twitched as he thanked her. Seeing his parents still busy in the kitchen, he asked, "Mom, are you and Dad going out?"
Liu Yinfeng: "Go to the local temple."
Moving is a big event, and people always ask for some blessings, so the couple took a few offerings with them and went out.
Luo Hong was watching TV in the living room, while Luo Yan went back to her room to do her homework.
It seems that all the furniture in her room was moved over exactly as it was, giving me the surreal feeling that she hadn't moved at all.
Even the things they do are fixed and unchanging.
She had only written a few words when someone in the courtyard called out her brother's name.
Luo Hong opened the door, glanced inside, and greeted, "You're all here! Come in, come in."
His childhood friends said to him, "You didn't even ask us to help you move. What kind of person are you?"
Luo Hong: "This place is so small, if you squeeze in, will I even have room to stand?"
Everyone chatted and laughed as they sat down in the living room.
Luo Yan poked her head out to greet him, thinking to herself: Zhou Weifang is probably about to wake up.
She guessed correctly. Zhou Weifang vaguely heard a noise outside, rubbed her hair to wake herself up, suddenly threw off the covers, sat up, yawned, and opened the door.
Everyone in the living room turned to look at him, and asked in surprise, "No, if you didn't know better, you'd think this was the Sanfang family's house. How did he come out from the inner room?"
Zhou Weifang's explanation caused a huge uproar.
One of them said, "You've notified all three parties, haven't you?"
One on the right said, "Are you even a buddy?"
Luo Hong's head was buzzing. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Huang Laishun cowering in the corner, scared by so many people. He opened the door and let Huang Laishun out to play in the yard, saying, "Stop talking nonsense, want to play cards or not?"
The card table was set up, and the atmosphere outside became even more lively. Only Zhou Weifang was somewhat absent-minded, secretly glancing at Luo Yan's door.
Luo Yan also wanted to ask him if he was feeling better now.
She closed the book temporarily, imagined it in her mind, and then cautiously opened the door a crack.
Zhou Weifang saw it immediately, pointed towards the door with his hand behind his back, and said first, "I'm going to the restroom."
Luo Yan counted to ten in her mind, pretended to be nonchalant as she opened the door. After meeting her brother's knowing gaze, she felt a little guilty and moved away. She took a few steps outside and saw Zhou Weifang in the woodshed in the corner, only showing half of his face like a thief.
Even though the living room door was closed, Luo Yan still felt guilty and tiptoed into the woodshed to close the door.
Most of the space inside was filled with honeycomb briquettes, leaving only enough room for two people to stand in the already small space.
Luo Yan felt awkward no matter how she stood, and it felt like she had swallowed a mouthful of coal when she opened her mouth. She quickly asked, "Are you feeling any better?"
Zhou Weifang nodded, brushed her hair over her shoulder, touched her face, and opened his arms slightly: "Yanyan, can I have a hug?"
Luo Yan poked his chest and teased, "So polite today?"
Zhou Weifang lowered his head and said, "I'm afraid you'll find the smell of alcohol bothersome."
Luo Yan pressed her face against his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his waist: "Usually I would, but let's make an exception today."
Who wouldn't want to be the special one, the exception? Zhou Weifang placed his hand on her waist and rubbed his chin against her hair: "Yanyan, how can you be so good to me?"
Luo Yan looked up at him and said, "You're quite easily satisfied."
Then he said, "Lower your head."
Zhou Weifang leaned forward, his face flushed, and his gaze towards her underwent an indescribable change.
Luo Yan patted his head and coaxed him, "I'll kiss you again next time."
Zhou Weifang would normally act coquettishly and pitifully several times a day, but now, fueled by alcohol, he's even more "unruly." It's not something that can be coaxed with a few words; he says, "There will be a next time."
Luo Yan went along with him, but by the time she realized she had already promised him several favors, it was too late. She pinched his hand and said, "Behave yourself. I'm not talking to you anymore. I haven't finished my homework yet."
Although the chances of being caught were slim, the two still sneaked away, walking one after the other.
Luo Yan was about to go back to her room, but when she saw Huang Laishun, she squatted down and played with him.
When Zhou Weifang passed by her, he patted her head, smiled, and pushed open the living room door.
When everyone saw him return, they all said, "Why did you take so long? We thought you'd fallen into a pit."
Seeing Luo Yan playing with the puppy in the yard, he remembered and asked, "Luo Bo, when did you get a new dog?"
Luo Hong said meaningfully, "There are no dogs, but there's an extra pig."
Rabbits don't eat the grass near their burrows, but Zhou Weifang certainly knows how to plunder the cabbage.
People assumed he was referring to Huang Laishun's weight and didn't take it seriously. Only Zhou Weifang pressed his hand firmly on his childhood friend's shoulder without saying a word.
Luo Hong took a breath without making a sound, watched his sister slip into the room, shook his head helplessly, and said imperiously, "Go boil some water."
Who else could he be ordering around? Zhou Weifang rubbed his face as he went into the kitchen.
The rest of the people watched the spectacle, shouting, "What's wrong with them? Tell us!"
Luo Hong: "If everyone knows that, can it still be called short?"
He changed the subject by throwing out a card: "How about we have a meal at Hongyang's place tonight?"
Today is Sunday, and everyone who isn't working is here. Everyone responded as soon as I mentioned it, and they even called on their friends to invite a few of the working people over as well.
Just this group of young people, you could hear them standing at the gate of the courtyard.
After burning incense with her husband, Liu Yinfeng came back to see the lively scene and said, "We'll all be eating at home tonight. I'll cook some good dishes."
"How could we possibly accept that?" Some people tried to be polite, but the biological son bluntly said, "We feel more comfortable eating out."
Go ahead, go ahead, be carefree.
Liu Yinfeng only advised, "Drink less."
Admittedly, Luo's parents always welcomed their children's friends, but the elders were still a bit too welcoming, and soon they decided to go to Zhang Hongyang's restaurant instead.
Before leaving, Luo Hong knocked on his sister's door and asked, "Are you coming or not?"
Luo Yan shook her head repeatedly: "I haven't finished my homework yet."
She secretly gave Zhou Weifang a wink, pretending she had already said goodbye, but unexpectedly he came back, claiming he had left something behind, and said goodbye properly again. As soon as he left, Liu Yinfeng teased, "He really did leave something behind, he's lost his soul here."
Luo Yan called out "Mom" in a drawn-out tone, twisting and turning against the door frame.
Liu Yinfeng chuckled and said, "Alright, alright, I won't talk about you anymore. What do you want to eat tonight?"
Luo Yan ate too much at noon and still hasn't digested it. She thought for a moment and said, "Let's have some porridge. I'm not that hungry."
Liu Yinfeng agreed, so they didn't cook much for dinner. The three of them had just congee and pickled vegetables to get by on their first night in their new home.
