Chapter 246 Her Home Covering 300 Acres

After crossing several more "mountains", they finally arrived at Linjiagou Village.

By this time, it was already dark. A crescent moon hung in the sky, echoing the twinkling stars and illuminating the way for their journey.

In the quiet world, the only sounds were the rolling wheels and the panting breaths of the five people. Even the chirping of insects was much sparser than in previous years. It was as if the whole world consisted of only the five of them.

"Mother? Is that you, Mother?"

The sudden sound from ahead startled the four men who were pulling the cart with the willpower of fifty coins, and they all cried out for their mothers.

"Oh my goodness!"

"Mother! A ghost!"

"Mom! You scared me to death!"

"Ouch! Mom! I've fallen to my death!"

The first three were alright, but I was still quite startled. The last one was a bit of a disaster; he actually fell into the ditch by the roadside.

"Boss?"

Yue Jiuyue was also startled by the sudden sound, but vaguely felt that it was the boss's voice.

"Mother, why are you so late? It's already pitch black outside. You can't come back this late again!"

The fourth brother kept muttering to himself, but quickly ran over and helped Yue Jiuyue walk slowly.

The eldest and third sons took over pulling the cart, following behind Yue Jiuyue and listening to their mother and younger brother chat.

The three young men, who had been pulling for over a hundred miles, were too exhausted to even utter a word of thanks. After walking for a while, they realized that one of them was missing and had to turn back to look for him.

Unexpectedly, the young man fell asleep right there in the ditch.

Luckily, he snores so loudly that they found him without any trouble.

Once home, they parked the car against the wall and left it there. Lin Chaodong and the others led everyone to their room to rest. Yue Jiuyue asked Liu Shi to cook more food. She was so tired that she didn't even wash up before lying on the bed, not wanting to move.

Today, she walked back and forth on her own two feet, step by step. She must have gotten several blisters on the soles of her feet, at least four of them broke. It must have hurt her terribly!

But she was too tired to move. So what if it hurt? It wouldn't affect her sleep.

Yue Jiuyue didn't eat dinner, and Liu Shi couldn't wake her up no matter what she did, which made her very distressed.

The next day, Yue Jiuyue slept until late morning, while the four young men slept even longer than her and were woken up by Xiaoman'er's chattering.

After breakfast, Yue Jiuyue paid the remaining ten taels of silver, and the four young men pulled the cart away.

They were all quite embarrassed, after all, this was the first time they had delivered goods and eaten and slept at someone's house. The young man from the carpenter's house even wanted to ask Yue Jiuyue to pay for the two meals.

"It's just two simple home-cooked meals, nothing special. If you feel bad about it, could you help me find some well diggers to come and see if there's any suitable place to dig a well near my house?"

Home……

The four young men stared in disbelief at their "home," which was now enclosed by a wall that seemed to have disappeared into nowhere.

This old lady's "home" is way too big! It's much bigger than the homes of the officials and wealthy businessmen they've visited before. Did they run into a nouveau riche?

There's nothing to be embarrassed about, why bother paying for the meal? They certainly don't need these measly small amounts.

"Okay, I'll have him come over and take a look tomorrow!"

The carpenter's eldest grandson assured him.
