Is it refreshing and appetizing to eat something cold in summer?
Some people felt wronged because it meant their families weren't waiting for them to come home for dinner; others, however, thought it was really delicious and wanted another bowl after finishing one.
Yue Jiuyue is the latter.
At midday, one serving of cold noodles wasn't enough for Yue Jiuyue, but she didn't buy a second serving, fearing that the smell in the house would be too strong and be detected by Lin Chaobei, who has a nose like a dog.
Today's lunch was the same as usual: blanched wild vegetables cut into sections, plus shredded pickled vegetables, which made a simple cold dish, along with a bowl of wild vegetable and egg soup. We usually eat wild vegetable steamed buns, but the wild vegetable steamed buns now have more flour than the ones Liu made, so they taste much better.
Yue Jiuyue didn't eat much as always. Sometimes she wasn't hungry at all, and sometimes she would secretly have a snack after returning to her room if she wasn't full. In any case, she would never mistreat herself.
With nothing to do in the afternoon, Yue Jiuyue slept at home all afternoon. After dinner, she naturally couldn't fall asleep and started thinking about her paradise again. She wondered if she should go to the county town in the next couple of days.
Their Chaoyang County is by the sea, but their village is inland, about four or five hundred miles from the county seat. If she were to walk there on foot, it would take her from before dawn until dark.
I'm starting to regret not just buying a horse-drawn carriage yesterday.
Otherwise, I'll go to the county town tomorrow to get my transportation ready, and then go to the prefectural city the day after tomorrow.
Anyway, going to the county town wasn't in a particularly urgent situation. She just suddenly wanted to go and see if there was any seafood there, or even fruit trees. She really wanted to build the orchard as soon as possible. Not only would she have fruit to eat, but she could also make fruit wine and dry fruit. That way, she would have something to eat in winter, and more importantly, she could make money!
Money can make the devil turn the millstone; there are so many things that money can solve. Without money, you can't do anything. For example, even though she has more than two hundred taels of silver on the surface, she still has to eat wild vegetables in different ways every day.
This wasn't because she wanted to improve her taste by eating wild vegetables, but because she had to eat them to save food; the two situations have different implications.
"Mom! Wake up! Time to eat!"
Lin Chaobei's wake-up call startled Yue Jiuyue so much that she sat up abruptly. She hurriedly put on her clothes, quickly washed up, and then gulped down the wild vegetable porridge in her bowl before picking up her basket and heading outside.
She remembered that she had decided to go to the county town last night, but she had gone to bed too late and overslept this morning.
You should know that she planned to get up at around 4 a.m., and had even set her alarm in advance.
Unfortunately, the alarm clock couldn't be kept in the room, so it was turned off, and it really felt like it never went off.
"Mother, where can we go?"
Lin Chaobei asked curiously.
He had been 100% curious from the very beginning. It was just that his mother was so stubborn; if there was nothing important, he wouldn't wake her up no matter how many times he tried. But today, she suddenly got up quickly, and now that she was about to go out, he wondered if she was going to the county town again.
"Huh? Going to the county seat!"
After saying that, Yue Jiuyue suddenly came to her senses. She hadn't bought a carriage yet, so she had to go to the county town to buy one first.
So she changed her tune:
"Go to the county town and buy a horse-drawn carriage."
Lin Chaobei: (*?◇?)
His mother's really getting cocky!
But he likes it!
