Chapter 25 Highway

It was approaching dusk.

The afterglow of the setting sun, like a veil, gently spread across the earth, tinting the world with a warm yet slightly melancholic orange-red. Across the horizon, the sunset glow spread freely, like a gorgeous painting slowly unfolding. After safely passing through several small towns, the convoy finally entered a highway.

Like a winding steel dragon, the motorcade slowly entered the highway. The hum of the vehicles' engines intertwined, shattering the long-held silence of the highway. Each vehicle carried people's hopes for the future, moving forward resolutely on this seemingly unknown road. Xu Mo sat in the booth of Dell's RV, peering out the window.

Xu Mo sat quietly in the booth, his posture erect, his eyes etched with concentration and thought. He leaned slightly to the side, his face resting against the window, his fingers unconsciously tapping against it as he gazed through the transparent glass at the world outside. The highway was filled with all manner of old vehicles, parked in a chaotic mess. Some collided with each other, some leaned sideways on the roadside, and some even crashed through the steel guardrails and tumbled into the woods on either side of the highway.

Xu Mo's eyes flickered with surprise and emotion. The scene before him resembled a bleak, apocalyptic scene. Seeing the abandoned vehicles, he felt as if he were witnessing a past of disaster and chaos. He frowned slightly, and his mind involuntarily recalled the panicked crowds of the time. Some of the vehicles had severely deformed front ends, their twisted metal seeming to speak of the horrific impact. Others, covered in dust and rust, resembled elderly people, gradually losing their vitality under the erosion of time. Others had crashed into the woods, half-hidden in the weeds, revealing only their mottled bodies, as if waiting to be forgotten. Xu Mo stared out the window, and images from his past life watching The Walking Dead surfaced.

Xu Mo's eyes grew hazy, as if he'd traveled back to a past life, watching a TV series. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, revealing a faint smile, a memory of the familiar plot. A hint of excitement shone through his eyes, as if he saw a new challenge coming. Yes, this was the road; it looked like it wasn't far from Hershel's farm.

Xu Mo's eyes flashed with certainty and anticipation. His heartbeat quickened slightly, and he felt an irrepressible excitement. The car drove a distance and then stopped because the road ahead was blocked by scrapped vehicles.

A hint of helplessness flashed across Xu Mo's eyes. He sighed softly and shook his head slightly. He knew this was an obstacle in their path, but he wasn't afraid. Instead, it aroused his inner fighting spirit. Seeing that they couldn't move forward, the people in each vehicle of the convoy got out and gathered together.

People opened their doors and emerged from their vehicles, faces filled with confusion and unease. They hurried toward the front of the convoy, their eyes revealing worry about the unknown. Some chatted quietly as they walked, while others wore solemn expressions, silently observing their surroundings. Xu Mo was no exception.

Xu Mo pushed open the car door, his movements steady and powerful. He straightened his back, his eyes scanning the crowd around him with determination, as if conveying a sense of strength. His steps were firm and confident as he walked toward the crowd, each step imbued with the demeanor of a leader. "Xu Mo, what should we do next?" Rick asked Xu Mo.

Rick's eyes were filled with trust and expectation. He walked up to Xu Mo, raised his head slightly, and spoke with a hint of urgency. He knew Xu Mo's wisdom and ability very well, and believed that he would be able to lead everyone out of the predicament. The others also looked at Xu Mo.

Everyone's eyes were focused on Xu Mo, with some eyes filled with trust, some with expectation, and some with a hint of confusion. They were all waiting for Xu Mo's decision, as if Xu Mo was their guiding light in this apocalypse. Xu Mo thought for a moment and quickly made an arrangement:

Xu Mo lowered his head slightly, his eyes filled with concentration and thought. His fingers gently stroked his chin, his mind quickly planning a response plan. After a moment, he raised his head, his eyes full of confidence and decisiveness. "Dale, you go to the roof and monitor the surrounding situation."

Xu Mo's voice was loud and clear, and he looked at Dale with a firm gaze, as if conveying an invisible sense of pressure and responsibility. His eyes revealed his trust in Dale, believing that he could handle this important task. "Rick, Sean, Mor, and Daryl, the four of you will patrol the area around the convoy in teams of two."

Xu Mo's eyes swept over Rick, Sean, Mor, and Daryl in turn, a look of seriousness and earnestness in them. His tone was unquestionable, as if he were issuing a sacred command. He knew these four men's abilities well and trusted them to ensure safety around the convoy. "Glenn, T-boy, Jim, Morales, you two will be responsible for clearing the blocked vehicles."

Xu Mo's eyes revealed a hint of anticipation as he looked at Glenn and the others, his gaze filled with encouragement. He nodded slightly, as if to tell them that they would definitely be able to complete this difficult task. His voice was steady and powerful, giving people a sense of reassurance. "As for the rest of the people in the camp, you are responsible for searching these abandoned vehicles for water, food, and other supplies."

Xu Mo's eyes were filled with concern, and he glanced at the others in the camp, his gaze filled with anticipation. He hoped everyone would work together and contribute to the team's survival. His voice was gentle yet firm, letting everyone feel his care and expectations. "This work must be completed before dark, and after dark, everyone must return to the team immediately!"
