Chapter 34 News from the First Day

Night slowly fell, and darkness, like a huge curtain, gradually enveloped the entire world.

The teams that had gone out also returned to the camp one after another in the dark night.

In Hershel's room, warm yellow light gently sprinkled down, illuminating every corner of the room.

Everyone sat neatly at the table in Hershel's restaurant.

After a simple dinner, Xu Mo cleared his throat and solemnly explained the news of Hershel's joining to the others who had just returned. Then, he glanced around and asked Rick and the others about the search situation.

Rick and Sean looked at each other and shook their heads helplessly. Rick said, "We didn't find anything."

Daryl curled his lips, and Maul shrugged. Daryl continued, "Same with us."

Morales and Jim looked at each other, looking a little frustrated.

“We haven’t found the prison,” Morales said.

Jim then added, "But we found a group of survivors. They were camped on a road about 20 kilometers away from us. Their car was full of stuff, and judging by their living habits, it seemed like they lived in it."

After hearing the reports from Morales and Jim, Xu Mo's brows frowned instantly, and a hint of worry appeared in his eyes.

He knew in his heart that the group of survivors that Morales and Jim's team discovered should be the group that Rick, Hershel and Glenn met in the tavern in the original series, that is, the Autobots.

This group of people are not good people. They all live in cars and have no fixed place to live. They change their location every once in a while.

The most important thing is that in terms of ruthlessness, the Autobots are no less than the Governor and Negan, but their strength is far behind that of the Governor and Negan.

"Have you contacted them?" Xu Mo stared at Morales and Jim and asked seriously.

Morales quickly shook his head, a look of relief in his eyes, and said, "No, we observed them for a while and then rushed back."

Hearing this, Xu Mo's brows relaxed slightly, and his expression eased a lot. He said, "That's good. In today's world, we need to try to avoid contact with survivors from other groups."

After saying that, Xu Mo turned his gaze to Glenn and T Zai and asked gently, "How were your results today?"

Glenn and T-boy exchanged a look of helplessness. Glenn said, "We didn't find the prison either. And we have some bad news. While we were searching for the prison, we discovered a large group of zombies on the highway near where we came from. There were quite a few of them, probably over two hundred."

Listening to Glenn and T's answers, Xu Mo nodded slightly, with a hint of understanding in his eyes.

The news Glenn brought was within his expectations, and this was just a small zombie tide, so there was no need to worry too much. The real large-scale zombie tide was still to come.

Xu Mo lowered his head slightly, thought for a while, then raised his head and spoke with a firm look in his eyes:

"If you didn't find it today, there's no need to get discouraged. Just keep looking tomorrow."

"Rick, Daryl, Glenn, the three of you teams will continue in the original direction to expand the distance and range."

"As for Morales and Jim, you don't need to continue looking for them tomorrow. You have a new mission. Take the other young men in the camp and monitor the actions of the survivors. Remember not to come into contact with them."

"If you accidentally come into contact with them for some other reason, remember to contact me immediately by radio."

"I'll be on guard tonight. We'll discuss the detailed plan tomorrow morning. You're all exhausted, so go back and get some rest."

After hearing Xu Mo's words, the others nodded and gradually dispersed and left.

Soon, only Xu Mo, Amy, Andrea, and Hershel were left in the restaurant.

Seeing that most people had left, Xu Mo stood up gently, patted the non-existent dust on his body, and planned to leave with Amy and Andrea.

At this moment, Hershel suddenly raised his voice and called him: "Xu Mo, we need to talk to you alone."

Hearing Hershel's words, Xu Mo was slightly stunned, then nodded to Amy and Andrea, his eyes conveying a comforting message.

Amy and Andrea understood and walked out of Hershel's house with light steps.

After seeing Amy and Andrea walk out of the house, Xu Mo sat back in his chair, leaned forward slightly, looked at Hershel and his group and said, "Just tell me what you want to say."

Hershel looked at Xu Mo with a hesitant expression on his face and a hint of struggle in his eyes. This expression lasted for about two seconds before Hershel took a deep breath and said in a somewhat heavy tone:

"There are a lot of walkers in that barn in our front yard."

"My wife Annette, my son Shane, and my neighbors."

"We've been feeding them all these days."

"We originally thought they were just patients and there was an antidote to cure them."

"But today, when I saw you shoot the zombie's heart and other vital organs with a gun by the well, and it was still moving, I realized how stupid I was. Annette was already dead, and we have been feeding the rotting corpse."

"I was already feeling a bit hopeless, thinking that everything was hopeless."

"However, after hearing what you said this afternoon, I am willing to trust you this time. I will entrust myself, my daughter, and everyone else to you, hoping that you can bring us hope for the future."
