In the alley.
After being tripped, Magna felt only a wave of pain, but she couldn't care less at the moment. Her heart was filled with anxiety and panic. She ignored the pain of falling and turned her head sharply, her eyes wide, eager to see what had tripped her.
Then, she saw a half-dead zombie, clinging to her left leather boot with its remaining upper limbs. The corpse's severed limbs were bloody and emitting a nauseating stench of decay. It roared repeatedly, "Ugh! Ugh!"
Seeing this scene, a flash of panic flashed across Magna's face, followed by uncontrollable anger. She gritted her teeth, raised her other leg, and kicked the half-dead corpse with all her strength. At the same time, her eyes were fixed on the crowbar not far away, and she stretched out her hand desperately to reach it.
However, the crowbar was too far away. She stretched out her arm with all her might, but only the tips of her fingers could barely touch the crowbar. What was worse was that the crowbar was pushed further away by her fingertips. At this moment, trying to retrieve the crowbar was simply impossible!
"Damn it!" Magna cursed, her face flushing red with anger, her eyes filled with regret and resentment. At the same time, she turned her head and looked behind her, a hint of fear in her eyes.
The zombie that had been tugging at her was surprisingly resilient. Even after being kicked several times, it still clung to her boots. Furthermore, it twisted its mutilated body, attempting to open its mouth, brimming with rotting flesh, to bite her leg. And most importantly, the zombies behind her had also caught up, now only four or five meters away. Their claws and fangs were bared, and their chilling roars were almost in her ears, as if death were approaching.
Glancing at the half-dead corpse, then at the approaching horde, Magna's anxiety was so intense she couldn't think straight. She gritted her teeth, quickly reached for the pistol at her waist, and with a bang, the bullet blasted into the half-dead corpse, killing it instantly. Then, with all her might, she kicked the corpse away from her boot.
At this time, the zombies also surged up like a tide. The nearest zombies came in front of her in the blink of an eye, stretched out their dry arms, and were about to pounce on her.
Although Magna was panicking, she managed to remain calm. She quickly rolled over, facing upwards, her hands tightly gripping the pistol. Without hesitation, she aimed at the approaching zombies and pulled the trigger, killing them one by one. Then, without even taking a breath, she immediately climbed to her feet and ran desperately towards the alley's exit. Her eyes were filled with a desperate desire to survive, and each step was quick and urgent, as if the alley's exit was her last straw.
"There are only less than twenty meters left, as long as I can reach that place!" Magna ran wildly, looking at the exit of the alley not far away. Suddenly, a strong motivation surged in her heart, as if she saw the hope of life.
"Ten meters!" Seeing that the exit was so close, Magna couldn't help but reveal an expression of joy on her face, her eyes flashed with excitement, and her pace became faster.
However, before she could rejoice for long, just three or four meters from the alley's exit, the four or five corpses that had been sitting against the wall suddenly stood up without warning. They swayed their bodies, slowly turned around, and stared at Magna with empty eyes, looking like demons crawling out of hell.
Seeing this scene, Magna's heart instantly sank to the bottom, as if being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and she felt a moment of suffocation. She knew clearly that she only had one bullet left in her pistol. If there was only one zombie, she might be able to rely on this last bullet and her own skills to deal with it. But now there were four or five zombies at once. Her mind was blank, and she had no idea how to kill them.
What made her even more desperate was that the group of zombies behind her also caught up with her. The densely packed figures were like a dark wave that was about to completely drown her.
The way ahead was blocked by zombies, and hundreds of zombies were pressing in from behind. On both sides were tall, smooth walls that were impossible to climb, like two ruthless barriers that trapped her in this desperate situation.
"It's really over now." Magna smiled bitterly, her eyes filled with despair and helplessness. She slowly grasped the pistol, pointed the muzzle at her temple, her finger on the trigger, trembling slightly.
She only had one bullet left. Since she couldn't escape with it, she would rather commit suicide than be eaten alive by these monsters and suffer endless pain.
Magna took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and pulled the trigger without hesitation. However, the gun did not fire, and the bullet jammed. She widened her eyes in disbelief, and a sense of foreboding surged in her heart.
She was a little unconvinced, gritted her teeth, and then pulled the trigger several times in succession, but the expected gunshot still did not come from the cold muzzle.
"You won't even give me a chance to commit suicide?" After pulling the trigger repeatedly, there was still no sound of gunfire coming from the muzzle. Magna felt even more bitter in her heart, her eyes were red, and tears were rolling in her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to fall.
The zombies in front of her had already come to her, stretching out their hands covered with rotten flesh, and were about to grab her. The zombies behind her also caught up with her again, and the stench of decay almost drowned her.
