Chapter 5 Namimori Daily Life (Part 5)
With Yamamoto Takeshi seizing the initiative, Gokudera Hayato, who was eager to make a good impression, naturally refused to be outdone and eagerly expressed his desire to do something as well.
Sawada Nana, however, suggested that they find Tsuna to play with. This usually easily fooled mother may have sensed that her son was lonely, and now that Sawada Tsunayoshi has brought his friends home, she only hopes that they can keep him company, even if it's just for a little while longer.
She smiled and said to the two eager children, "Go find Tsuna and the others. It would be too impolite of you to ask for their help on your first visit. Don't worry, Bianchi will help me."
Bianchi, a pink-haired girl, came to the Sawada family home with Lambo the cow. Sawada Nana warmly welcomed them to stay, and in return, Bianchi offered to help with the cooking.
Although Gokudera Hayato wanted to say something like it was his honor to do things for the Tenth Generation's mother without being impolite, he could only clutch his stomach and call out "older sister" when he saw Bianchi come out of the room.
Yamamoto Takeshi didn't press the issue, or rather, his personality rarely put others in a difficult position. Just like now, he showed no disappointment, cheerfully recommending bamboo sushi to Sawada Nana, hoping she would have the chance to try it and offering her a discount.
Nana Sawada had heard of this famous sushi restaurant and said she would definitely go there if she had the chance.
"Long time no see, Hayato."
Bianchi closed the door and smiled affectionately at her half-brother. The siblings, reunited after so long, probably had a lot to say, but Bianchi's attention was more focused on Reborn.
"Reborn~ I'm so glad to see you again~"
She clasped her hands together, leaned closer to Reborn, and looked at him with eyes full of adoration.
Reborn is the world's number one assassin, with fans all over the globe, the Italians being number one, and Bianchi being the number one among number one.
Reborn calmly greeted his fans: "Ciao, Bianchi."
At this crucial moment when the Ninth Vongola is entrusted with teaching the future successor, Bianchi, the scorpion from Italy, suddenly appears in the small town of Namimori, making people wonder if there is some kind of conspiracy.
He asked coldly, "What are you doing here?"
"Of course..."
Undeterred by her idol's indifference, Bianchi smiled mysteriously, glancing around as if to retrieve her deadly poisonous dish. However, her gaze fell upon the smiling Nana Sawada, causing her to pause, and the words she was about to say changed.
"For Reborn's freedom!"
Saying he would kill someone's son in front of their mother, Scorpion, who has the purest Mafia blood flowing through his veins, has done even more outrageous things.
The world of the mafia is cruel.
But the other person was Nana's mother, who had kindly taken her in and was innocent and naive, so she couldn't bring herself to say it.
Perhaps it was the warmth she received from the other person, like the motherly love she never had.
Deep down, the underage girl longed for this warmth.
Even after she was kicked out of the kitchen by Nana Sawada and made to eat in the seat furthest away from Hayato Gokudera, she did not change her mind about saving her idol from his predicament.
She won't give up!
Bianchi glared at Sawada Tsunayoshi. Sawada Tsunayoshi, a middle school student who hadn't yet been trained by Reborn to be a proper Vongola successor, trembled with fear.
However, Yao Chuanling and Lan Bo's relationship improved. It was because their tastes were so similar that they felt like kindred spirits. Eventually, the two were even able to go out for takoyaki together.
"I knew she ate very childish food."
Sawada Tsunayoshi retorted.
But the friendship between the elf and the calf, which lasted less than an hour, broke down when Lambo brazenly climbed onto Yao Chuanling's head and boldly declared that Yao Chuanling was his little brother.
A competitive elf would never be someone's underling.
She retorted earnestly, "No, you are my little brother."
She had just been arguing with Gokudera Hayato about who was the best, and then she was debating with Lambo about who was the boss and who was the underling. Sawada Tsunayoshi had complained about her acting like a child countless times.
"He's even more like a child than Ribourne."
That was his exact quote.
What followed was a brutal kick from Reborn.
After dinner, seeing that it was getting late, everyone said their goodbyes. Sawada Nana warmly invited them to come again next time.
Gokudera Hayato was going in a different direction, while Sasagawa Kyoko was going shopping. The only companions she had were Yokawa Rei and Yamamoto Takeshi.
The boys and girls, dressed in their school uniforms, walked together, one tall and one short. No one spoke, yet the atmosphere was strangely harmonious.
Yao Chuanling secretly glanced at him, sensing that he had something to say.
Sure enough, the next second Yamamoto Takeshi casually began to accuse her, his voice tinged with a hint of grievance.
“Sasagawa, Kurokawa, even Tsuna and Hayato, you say they are the best in the world, even though we’ve known each other for much longer.”
He made subtle differences in how he addressed people, but that's not the point to focus on right now.
He was clearly hurt by the differential treatment he received from his friends.
Yao Chuanling didn't want him to be sad, so she made a sushi-making motion and said, "Yamamoto was the best when he brought me sushi."
The naturally dark-skinned boy wasn't so easily fooled when he was trying to make things difficult for her; he stared straight into Yao Chuanling's eyes.
Amber and jade met.
The girl saw a cautious assertiveness in it.
His amber eyes curved into a smile, as if his previous assertiveness was merely an illusion.
"Just call me A-Wu. I don't want this first place that everyone has."
Forget it, what's the point of getting angry? Instead of fighting for a title, let's actually build a relationship. At least, let's change the name first.
He had actually been aware of it all along.
Regarding forms of address.
She calls Kyoko and Hana, but politely addresses them as Yamamoto, Sawada, Gokudera, and even Hibari.
She subconsciously distanced herself from them.
Why? They met first.
Takeshi Yamamoto wanted to break down this unsettling sense of alienation.
"Huh? Okay, Takeshi."
Yao Chuanling readily changed his tune.
She used to be confused about how to address people by their names. Her monster friends would call her by her first name, but human society is very polite, and careless addressing can be offensive.
She consulted her teacher.
Abe no Seimei, who was very sociable and had human blood and a human name, patted her head and said, "You have transformed into a woman, so you are naturally close to women and can call them by their names."
Teacher Seimei smiled: "As for human men... it's very impolite to call someone by their name unless they request it. Of course, I'm an exception. Doesn't Seimei sound better than Abe?"
Yao Chuanling regarded this as a guiding principle and always practiced it.
As dusk fell, the boy revealed his usual cheerful and natural smile, and replied, "Xiao Ling."
Oh, Yaochuan Ling remembers now.
He used to call her Yaochuan too.
The peak cherry blossom season has passed, and even the withered flowers have long been buried in the soil.
But it was on this very evening, when the cherry blossoms were like a rosy cloud, that he discovered a cherry blossom fairy.
That day, Takeshi Yamamoto finished baseball practice and was walking home alone.
Cherry blossoms are everywhere in Namimori, and there's even a cherry blossom grove on campus. Takeshi Yamamoto is used to it; he carries his baseball bat, thinking about how to improve his baseball skills.
He heard a melodious and cheerful flute sound, like cherry blossoms gently falling and swirling on the stream, with fish occasionally leaping out and creating ripples.
A young girl sat on a cherry blossom tree, playing a short flute and swinging barefoot.
It must be an elf who has wandered into human society.
Through layers of cherry blossoms and leaves, he seemed to see the pointed ears peeking out from under the other person's long, light-gold curly hair.
"It's a really nice piece of music. What's the name of this song?"
"It doesn't have a name. Think of one."
“Sakura Creek, let’s call you Sakura Creek.” Yamamoto Takeshi opened his arms and asked her with a friendly smile, “Want to get down? I’ll catch you.”
Yao Chuanling tilted her head. She had originally planned to quietly turn into the wind and slip away after he left.
The elf looked at him for a while, and seeing that he kept his arm raised without any sign of impatience, she replied, "Okay."
So Takeshi Yamamoto caught a light, fluttering cherry blossom.
He didn't ask her why she was barefoot in the tree, just as he didn't ask her name.
He simply carried her on his back, took her back to the sushi restaurant, and brought out a spare pair of slippers for her. This is why Yokawa Rei knew about Take Sushi.
The shop owner was Takeshi Yamamoto's father. He made her extra sushi for dinner and greeted her with a smile, inviting her to come often.
"You people are so kind."
Yao Chuan Ling remarked.
Not wanting to owe anyone a favor, the elf secretly left behind a sapphire.
"I'm Takeshi Yamamoto," the boy who had been given the "friend zone" card said earnestly. "If we ever meet again, please tell me your name."
Wearing slippers, Yao Chuanling walked out of the store. Although she didn't understand the other party's intentions, she still nodded in agreement.
Uncle Yamamoto's sushi is so delicious, I'll definitely see it again!
The elf thought happily.
This is the third day since Yao Chuanling came to this world.
Kusakabe Tetsuya earnestly advised her not to climb the tree or go barefoot, worried that she might fall from the tree or catch a cold from being barefoot.
Having no such concerns but unable to tell Kusakabe-san that he shouldn't worry, the Pokémon could only choose to run outside and climb a tree.
Then she met the sushi guy and a delicious sushi restaurant she'd never been to before.
"This trip was profitable."
She spoke indistinctly, chewing on sushi.
