Li Wenjia did not tell them the latter sentence. Rationality does not mean safety. Rationality only means controllability.
But these people have their own way of relieving stress, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to get all the way here.
Now that this difficult time has been overcome, these experienced veterans quickly recovered from their tension and returned to a state of balance.
"Let's go. I want to see what medicine is hidden in this gourd!"
The wolf king gathered his wolf cubs, and everyone formed a sparse skirmish line and continued to advance deeper into the tunnel.
The guides seemed to have finally calmed down. They led the group in front, occasionally signaling them in a low voice to hurry up and follow.
"Hey, Lao Li, is the guide you mentioned really useful? This tunnel doesn't have any winding paths or forks. It's just this straight one. No one can get lost, right?"
Li Wenjia narrowed his eyes, watching the two guides walk faster and farther away, then replied on the public channel: "Just wait, the bait struggling in the water will only attract more big fish."
As they continued deeper, the tunnel brightened. Switching their visors to dim mode, they saw fluorescent plants gradually appearing on both sides of the tunnel. These plants weren't growing well, and the fluorescence they emitted was rather weak. Perhaps some sunlight would normally penetrate this area, but it certainly wouldn't be a large amount.
With the light, even though it was very weak, everyone's movements became faster.
The two guides obviously didn't expect that everyone could come and go freely in the dark. They had to temporarily give up their escape plan, stopped by a garbage dump, and waved behind them.
"Look here!" A guide pointed to the wall on the left. "Further ahead is the tribe's territory. They say they'll kill you if you come uninvited."
What's on the wall?
No one can see in the darkness.
But this does not pose a problem for the people. Human strength comes first from wisdom, second from courage, and third from tools.
Everyone formed a circle around the wall. After confirming that there were no other living creatures around, one of them turned around and briefly shone a tactical flashlight at the wall for 0.00005 seconds - this was the exposure time of the flash, and almost no mutants could react.
"It's a simple scarecrow. There's nothing else on the wall."
"Interesting~" the wolf king chuckled.
This is another proof that only farmers would make scarecrows to ward off wild animals, while real predators would use a pile of bones and blood to prove their danger.
The wolf king was no longer nervous and began to be curious about the two guides. Their performance was actually quite poor, and everyone present had noticed it long ago, but they had never said it out loud.
He approached Li Wenjia with great interest. Gradually, everyone slowed down and stayed far behind the guide.
"How long do you think they can endure this?"
"How about we make a bet?"
"Then you better be careful." Li Wenjia pushed the Wolf King away. "I dreamed of the God of Wealth yesterday. I bet two dollars. I bet they can do it within half a minute."
"That's it? I thought you would give half of it..." Before the Wolf King finished speaking, the two guides suddenly flashed into a shadow and then disappeared.
"Fuck! Do you mean what you say?"
Everyone immediately quickened their pace. After a clatter of footsteps, they arrived at the spot where the guide had disappeared. They saw a pile of abandoned vehicles, most of which had been stripped down to their skeletons, with a few deflated tires still lying around. The lighting was poor, so they could only flash their cameras a few times.
There were almost no broken glass around, which meant that these cars must have been intact before arriving here. It was obvious that these cars were towed here.
"Did you hear any noise just now?" Li Wenjia looked up along the pile of scrapped car frames. A ventilation duct stretched across everyone's heads, with a large hole in it, big enough for an adult to fit through.
"No, they disappeared suddenly. There was no sound at all."
"Well, did you find anything?"
"No, it's nothing. Let's move on. They're not here."
"Which two relay stations are the next? You guys stay here. If you see them, don't talk nonsense."
Leaving the garbage dump, the crowd didn't become more alert. This wasn't a sign of complacency; there simply wasn't any need to. This wasn't near the entrance anymore. The tunnel's interior was actually quite simple. Ignoring the tightly closed blast-proof doors on either side, the vast expanse was enough to reveal any living creature.
The surroundings became brighter and brighter, and there were more and more luminous grasses on both sides of the tunnel.
They walked in the darkness for another half an hour, and finally, a ray of light shone on everyone's faces.
This is a skylight with a reflective cover. From the vicinity of the wellhead, you can see the dark clouds in the sky. It should be the luminous grass farm that Xiao Ba mentioned. The surrounding fluorescence is reflected by several mirrors and transmitted to the depths of the tunnel.
"It's spectacular! Are those the missing windshields? I never thought they'd use glass here. But how did they make the glass reflect light? Have the tribesmen mastered the silver mirror reaction?"
"Of course they didn't." Li Wenjia looked up. "Look closely, that's aluminum foil they recycled. Don't forget there's a city nearby. They're not afraid of that little bit of radiation."
"Do you have any extra canisters? The ambient radiation here is level three. They definitely haven't cleaned off the topsoil."
