Jiang Ling arrived at the place mentioned in the invitation letter about an hour early.
Last night's catch was truly bountiful. With her superpowers, she caught those rabbit-sized sheep, as if she had activated a cheat program with perspective and automatic aiming. She hired several people to bring back the prey, which was now being sent to the kitchen.
By the way, there was a small incident when transporting back the little animals that she had knocked unconscious.
Before setting off, this person had stored all her belongings in a safe house—to test her speed. So, when the search team found her, she was naked. She had originally been wearing underwear, but after a brief burst of acceleration, the soft fabric was shredded by the wind pressure. Of course, she hadn't broken the sound barrier, and the terrain was still quite rough, so she'd lost some speed trying to avoid the debris.
The search team initially thought she was a hunter from a nearby tribe and insisted on sending her back. Fortunately, Jiang Ling had not forgotten her pass code, and the misunderstanding was finally resolved.
Afterward, the search team followed her, watching her drag her belongings for twenty kilometers. She couldn't find words to describe the embarrassment she felt, only a stern expression. In one hand, she dragged a long string of road signs, in the other, clutching a ferocious pig with its brains smashed. She had made some simple modifications to the road signs, folding up the four edges so they could barely be used to pull the goods. Hundreds of rabbits and sheep were piled on top of the road signs, and she carefully used her telekinesis to steady their center of gravity.
She estimated that she was dragging something weighing seven or eight tons, but sliding on snow offered little resistance, so the actual pulling force required was not much.
The ferocious porpoises needed no further introduction; these tasty but difficult mutants were everywhere in the wilderness. Jiang Ling didn't waste any time; she seized the opportunity and knocked it down with a single punch. The rabbits, on the other hand, were fluffy and quite adorable. Their fur was fine and soft, perhaps even useful for producing expensive natural down blankets, so Jiang Ling planned to pick a few and raise them. She hoped these Level 1 mutants would appreciate the synthetic food; it was all she had to offer in the short term.
So, returning to Jinling East Station for the second time, she finally got what she wanted and caused a commotion. Well, this time, the target wasn't her—she certainly wouldn't run naked in public. What surprised the crowd was the prey following behind her—the prey being carried by a human-powered crane.
The troops sent out on missions from this station usually managed to capture some game, but most of it was consumed internally. Large shipments like this were relatively rare.
Those who couldn't hold back tried to intercept Jiang Ling the moment she entered the station. Their reasons varied, but only one gave her a headache—"Bringing it in requires quarantine!" the epidemic prevention office said. It seemed her pet plan was ruined; the station probably wouldn't give her the chance to raise a mutant.
Life, however, is full of ups and downs. While she was awaiting the quarantine results, another group of people brought her good news. These experts, sent from the experimental area, said they could take a few live individuals back to try domestication. It should have been easy for them to obtain samples of these mutants, but they said these rabbits and sheep were difficult to capture, and the ones others brought back were either dead or maimed. And catching so many like she had was truly unprecedented!
The group had been prepared, having calculated Jiang Ling's agreement. So, after the quarantine results came out, they packed up a dozen or so sheep in plastic incubators and took them away. Of course, there was a price to pay. They sent her an email, saying they could come and adopt two sheep when the results were in.
All in all, the remaining ones have probably been drained of blood and chopped into small pieces by now. Jiang Ling's tears flowed from the corners of her mouth. She hoped that the cooks could make it more delicious.
“Ding ding ding~”
This was a transfer notification—she had sold hundreds of sheepskins for a good price. Of course, the fur traders would profit from those comfortable pelts. But that was no longer her concern. She considered herself a poor trader, and there was no point dwelling on those premium prices. Besides, a career in business wasn't her original intention. Money was an inexhaustible commodity, and too much of it would only lead to its control and slavery.
She was currently wearing a women's army uniform. There was no other way around it; the station didn't offer any custom clothing. It was lent to her by a female soldier at the station, and how could one describe her demeanor? She didn't look like a soldier at first glance. No matter how the women adjusted it, it still felt baggy, like a yukata.
I should have prepared an extra set of clean clothes! She was seated at a long table by someone who had been waiting there for a long time. Under the table, her legs, wrapped in black stockings, rubbed against each other uncomfortably. Jiang Ling felt a chill in her lower body, probably because the bench beneath her butt wasn't warm yet.
However, this guy wasn't shy, but excited. She'd never had the chance to wear women's clothing before, but now she skipped the adjustment period and went to a party dressed as a woman. As a result, her blood rushed to her head, and her lower body naturally felt a little cold.
This openly female-dressing experience was something she'd never experienced before, so it was only natural that she felt a little excited. This was a spiritual excitement, not a physical one! No! She didn't use any props!
Perhaps because she arrived early, most of the seats were empty, giving her a good opportunity to observe the newly arrived guests. She had initially expected the soldiers to arrive in long lines, but in reality, they were much more disorganized. They usually arrived in groups of three or four, and their pace was rather chaotic. This dinner wasn't a formal celebration, it seemed. In a sense, it was more like a consolation meeting.
