Chapter 35 Second Trial (End)

He didn't know how the dog next to him controlled the drones. From the looks of it, the drones seemed to have received some kind of signal and the system was forced to restart.

There were too many things that Li Wenjia didn't know, and he was indeed not good at analyzing those things. Fortunately, he now had a very good memory. He relied on his instinct to record the information collected by his five senses.

The scenery changed rapidly. After turning several bends and dodging two fallen machines, he reached a ridge when he heard the last explosion ahead.

That was the typical sound of a suicide drone explosion. They were usually no bigger than a palm, and whenever they appeared, they would appear in swarms, obscuring the sky like a locust plague. Their cylindrical magazines held about a hundred grams of high-energy explosives in the form of round cakes. When combined with a shaped charge shell, they could easily penetrate an old tank.

Li Wenjia drove the car directly to the center of the battlefield to ensure that all the modified fighters were within the coverage of the dog's signal. He finally breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that there were still some survivors here.

"Anyone who can still move, come out and help! We don't have much time, there might be someone else ahead!"

He jumped out of the car with a roar, lifted up a flipped fighter, and pulled out a soldier trapped underneath. This was a lucky unlucky guy. Although his whole body was blackened, it seemed that only his buttocks were injured.

He was holding half of his body in his arms, which made Li Wenjia look at him twice.

"Are you still able to move? We are leaving, take your comrades with you quickly." Li Wenjia comforted.

"But he only has the upper half of his body left."

"What are you afraid of? As long as we can get back, the team doctor will be able to cure him! So hurry up!"

"Yeah." He tried to stand up. "Do me a favor. Give me a hand."

Li Wenjia extended an arm, palms clasped, and pulled him up from the ground. Honestly, they were heavy, one and a half men, including the exoskeleton, weighing several hundred pounds. They looked familiar, but Li Wenjia didn't say much. They all needed time, but they all lacked it.

The roars around them gradually became clearer, but those who had the strength to scream were already lucky. The pain brought pain, but at the same time, it also reminded them that only by being alive can one feel pain.

After a busy period, the survivors here got into two fighters and continued to move forward.

Several cars were following closely, but the road ahead was no longer dangerous. Li Wenjia didn't feel much pride in saving his comrades; he simply felt a little regretful for not foreseeing this less-than-optimistic future.

After a while, the dark clouds in the sky dissipated again, and the afterglow of the sun that was blocked by the clouds shone back on the earth. They returned to their starting point before sunset.
