In the waters northeast of Dongdao, the battle, or rather the one-sided massacre, is still going on.
Beneath a crisscross of stars, the shattered ice, mingled with dark red blood and black seawater, resembled a pot of black tea left steeped overnight outdoors in winter. Tidal ripples induced by the moon's gravity accelerated the convection of heat within the waters. From time to time, corpses rose from the seabed, breaking through the tranquil surface and bringing new changes to the once-silent world.
These corpses, with an average length of 300 meters, were incomplete. Their causes of death were similar, with large pieces of organ tissue usually missing from the head, torso, and respiratory holes, as if they had been gnawed by some evil monster.
The clouds were blown away by high-altitude air currents, and the silvery rivers above the night sky reflected the next day's sunlight early, illuminating these lifeless giants. If anyone were here, they would be able to see these mysterious beasts that are rarely seen in normal times.
They look similar to fish, only much larger. Their heads are disproportionately large, and if you translate them to two-spined salamanders, each one is a cute illustration of two heads on a single body. These outlandish creatures are closely related to land mammals, so even after two mutations, their basic appearance hasn't changed much. Like their other relatives, you can instantly recognize their original form: the sperm whale.
However, compared to the complete information before the war, people today still know very little about these mutants.
Some lucky people who have seen them in the sea and survived may call them "Stormbringers." Nicknames are usually true, and the reason for this remains a mystery. The appearance of these behemoths is often accompanied by extratropical storms. Although those storms are weak now, they will inevitably affect some marine operations.
As for those unfortunate enough, they likely view these whales as the Grim Reaper, the reaping ones. These Grim Reapers are extremely xenophobic and easily angered, and will attack anything that might pose a threat. They'll attack anything from drones roaming the ocean to shipyards located offshore. Even a passing dog will get a slap if they're angered.
Of course, evildoers will be punished by their own evildoers. If they do too much evil, they will eventually hit a wall.
Isn't that right? Another corpse floated to the surface, its empty eyes staring up at the sky, its brain artificially emptied, its bright red intestines flowing out of the hole in its back, its muscles stimulated by the cold seawater, triggering a bizarre paranormal reaction.
A black, humanoid figure, carrying an egg-shaped object nearly as tall as itself, followed closely behind, leaping out of the sea, bringing with it a large amount of foul-smelling water. It leaped onto the corpse and stomped on a reddish-gray raised area. A circular depression immediately appeared, and the unidentified creature beneath it transformed into mist, scattering in all directions. Then, as if completing its mission, the black humanoid stopped and lowered the "egg" from its back, or rather, its chest.
The battle started and ended suddenly. Jiang Ling had originally planned to leave a few survivors, but these guys seemed to be controlled by someone, fearless and unafraid of death, with no free will at all.
With her exoskeleton completely destroyed, she completed her transformation at the bottom of the ocean, under hundreds of atmospheres of pressure. Seawater rushed into her nostrils, but she felt no sense of drowning. Countless sonic attacks pierced her body, but she ignored their feeble attacks and employed the new psychic techniques she had experimented with. Her telekinesis was powerful enough to crush seawater into ice, let alone a mere flesh and blood body.
