Jiang Ling felt like she had penetrated something.
It wasn't like jumping into a swamp, where the mud was continuous, homogeneous, and isotropic, but her point of impact wasn't like that. It was more like cutting through puff pastry with your teeth, layer by layer, like driving a steel bar through a giant leaf-cutter anthill.
When the relative speed dropped to zero, she found herself in a crowded square.
The sunlight at this time penetrated the round hole she had just knocked out, and sprinkled evenly on her head, illuminating the dust around her, so that people could only see a vague black figure floating in the dim and dazzling column.
If they ignore the choking dust and remain rational in the face of such a shocking scene, what will they do?
The imagined chaos did not occur.
Until the smoke and dust cleared, the crowd outside still stood there in a daze, only a few people directly below her knelt down, with their heads lowered, eyes closed, and no word spoken.
[Where is the person in charge?] Psychic induction carried her words to every corner of the place, and everyone could sense her serious tone, as if something big was about to happen.
"I am an elder of this council. May I ask what brings the envoy here?" This reply came from above, several levels away.
[Do you have anyone going on patrol?] Jiang Ling asked.
“Not today, but there was a group of traitors who have now escaped,” the man replied.
[Why did you defect?] Jiang Ling asked again.
"I don't know. I think it's because of inconsistent government policies." The man replied.
[That's fine.] Jiang Ling said, [I wish you a sweet dream!]
With a thought, the heads of several kneeling people exploded simultaneously, spraying the red and white contents onto the surrounding people. Then, those glazed-eyed people immediately began to attack each other, throwing stones, pinching, biting, and using all kinds of extreme means. Their madness was astonishing.
Jiang Ling didn't attempt to control these people, only eliminating the few awakened ones. The remaining ones seemed like manipulated playthings, their personalities and memories programmed, like human-made machines. It was unknown what the person who invented these disgusting biological machines was thinking. These living machines were all programmed with the same basic behavioral logic, and one of the most fundamental ones was self-destruction.
She instinctively loathed everything here, wishing it were gone. As those people entered her range, the knowledge she extracted from their memories about this new society began to challenge her newly formed perspectives. These inhuman creatures, doing inhuman things, transformed normal and abnormal situations into something truly abnormal.
Simply put, in this isolated land, mutants and awakened people have established a slave society with information age technology, large-scale modular mass production industrial capabilities, and a new socialist economy. The rulers and exploiters are all products produced in factories, and individuals with psychic powers treat their brothers and sisters as food and goods.
Jiang Ling realized that the scope of control of this society might be quite large, perhaps covering the entire Australian continent. Otherwise, it would be impossible to maintain a population production capacity that was almost copy-and-paste.
It would be an unrealistic dream for her to destroy this place by herself.
