Chapter 18 Competition

Only three seconds later, another blinding white light swept across the entire open area.

The young man was eager to try, and Broken Star behind him counted the seconds. When he reached a certain number, he patted the young man on the back of the head. Almost instantly, the young man was like a replica of Long Bone, following his example and climbing over the snow slope, rolling twice in the snow, and then stumbling and quickly following Long Bone's path across the open field.

Li Wenjia was worried about him, as the white light almost brushed his butt.

"It's your turn. Remember. Keep your mouth shut when you leave. Don't breathe."

Is this also the lesson they have learned?

Li Wenjia took a deep breath and then moved one foot to a stress point.

"Hey. Don't be nervous. Relax."

As soon as Suixing finished speaking, Li Wenjia felt a hand tap his shoulder. Nerve signals instantly spread throughout his body, a massive burst of energy erupted from his mitochondria, and his muscles began to contract. Blood, carrying nutrients, was delivered to every organ in his body.

The next moment, Li Wenjia jumped out of a pit like an arrow from a bow at an extremely fast speed, flew over the snow slope, and then took two steps at a time and sped across the open ground.

His strong reaction ability allowed him to control his posture precisely, which made his movements appear very light. His feet were like a dragonfly skimming the water, and hardly a trace of snow foam was kicked into the air by him.

He finally rushed into the shelter, and just as he was about to take a breath, he heard Changgu's voice to stop him.

"Don't exhale, use this."

Long Bones handed over a metal tube that looked like an empty water pipe.

The air currents carrying water vapor pass through the pipes, are cooled by the accumulated snow, and by the time they emerge from the far end, they are already at the same temperature as the surrounding air, a bit like the smokeless earth stoves of the past.

Li Wenjia blew into the water pipe several times and finally controlled his heartbeat back to normal.

"You're using too much strength. This kid is better than you in this regard."

"But he's really fast! By the way, my name is Goodnight."

Good night, hello, have a good night... What kind of weird name is this?

Li Wenjia gave an awkward but polite smile, then leaned out, looked at the last person in the distance, and asked Changgu, "How did you find out?"

"The Thunderfire is very similar to the Pteranodon to the north. We barely have to put in any effort. As long as we figure out their territory and go a little deeper, they won't be able to find us."

"Is it that simple?" Li Wenjia was a little surprised.

“It will get easier in the future.”

After a while, the four of them reunited. They emerged from the other end of the bunker and found themselves in an alley.

The alleys were covered with various sheets of snow, which were then covered with a layer of snow several centimeters thick. This snow was enough to block their infrared radiation, making it difficult for the drones in the air to find them.

The crowd crouched as they made their way through the alleys, which were interconnected and had a guerrilla feel.

"Remember the blizzard a while ago? That's when we built this place. Thunderfires may be abnormal, but they are not omnipotent. At least they can't compare to Pteranodons. Some Pteranodons can even go out to hunt for food during storms."

"Sometimes you have to thank nature. You can't fight the power of nature. But you can adapt. But those thunder and fire. They won't adapt."

"Why do you think they won't adapt?"

"I know they're good at learning." Changgu shook his head. He observed the situation above through the gap in the thin sheet above his head. "Their reaction speed is far beyond that of ordinary people. It's called 'calculation power', right? They will constantly change themselves based on the existing intelligence, and finally ruthlessly destroy everything. Am I right?"

Changgu took the longbow from his back, put an arrow on it, and then suddenly moved a cover away.

The drone in mid-air noticed the anomaly almost instantly. It seemed to want to call its companions, but it was a step too late.

The next moment, sparks erupted from the drone as its high-energy battery was pierced by the arrow, the massive stopping power igniting the electrode material. A blue-purple flame erupted, and the swirling flames engulfed its sensors.

“Bang!”

There was an explosion in the air, and scattered parts fell from all directions with thick smoke.

Changgu moved the cover back to its original position, and then led everyone to move their position at a leisurely pace.

"They lack a sense of the bigger picture. Whenever intelligence is disorganized, they become foolish. They will rigidly combine the various pieces of information they find and draw conclusions that are completely unrealistic. How should I put it?"

"Poisoned. They can't tell if the information is poisoned or not."

"What do you think they're thinking right now?"

"They might think: The enemy has used a new type of weapon, so we must prioritize eliminating them!" Changgu pulled an arrow from his quiver and replied in an exaggerated tone, "Oh, what kind of new weapon is it? It's a kinetic weapon over 40 centimeters long, without a tail flame, and without explosion."

He handed the longbow and arrow to Shattered Star, then took small steps back to the side, leaving space for one person to pass through.

Broken Star was good at straddle shooting. He found a target far away, placed the longbow horizontally, and slowly adjusted the angle.

Goodnight was helping him, and when Broken Star was ready, Goodnight pushed the cover open a crack.

Li Wenjia only heard a "whoosh" sound.

The arrow drew an arc in the air, its arrowhead deliberately painted black so as not to reflect any light, until it hit its target.
